  1. Yes your explanation does help along with Gbrads. I will put it in my own holder and call it a strike through error since everyone here agrees to some degree that that’s what it is. It gives me confidence that if I decide to part with it that any collector interested in buying it will be able to tell it’s a true mint error. Although I will look into having it authenticated in the future as they may label it something different like you said. And I do have other coins like my 1942 D over horizontal D and 2000 wide AM penny I’d like to have slabbed at some point.
  2. No that’s exactly my question was if the first pic was what’s considered a spike head. Sorry for confusing you and throwing up the second picture of the same original penny. It’s a different pic and I figured if there was a different view others could give a better analysis. Plating blister seems to be that definitive answer. With my original statement and stating it’s a spike head I didn’t mean to claim it’s a spike head verity with a die crack. I originally thought die gouge so even that wouldn’t be a spike head I guess. Maybe stating “spike in the head but not a spike head” on the title would of been more appropriate.
  3. I also have ones of other years. This is the oddest die clash I have. It’s a double spitting eagle and down between the wing and branch there are two more lines. I noticed on most of my spitting eagles they will have a die clash on its left wing “eagle facing you”. As shown on the photo in the next post is a 1967 with die clash under beak, one from tip of arrows to the eagles right wing and one on its left wing.
  4. It’s a die clash. They come in many years. I to have a 1983P Spitting eagle although the clash goes up and down. I don’t know if you can tell by my photos. I call it the screaming eagle😆 by
  5. Should I get it authenticated or just go by what we believe it to be. I got free coin grading submission through ANA. Is this worth sending in to NGC or is there another place best suited for error coins?
  6. Was a Canadian quarter in that holder and your just seeing imprints on the plastic onto your coin lol?
  7. I haven’t searched through many quarters but in all honesty I don’t see anything showing doubling on this quarter and if there is 9 times out of 10 it’s machine doubling. I did spot a line going from the F in OF through the eagle into the T in QUARTER. But I believe it’s a line in the plastic holder you have it in. I don’t know if you have extra holders but next time you take a picture of a coin for others to inspect and give their opinion on it would be a lot easier to notice these things out of the holders.
  8. Under my scope I can see a tiny line leading into the G. I think it is a die crack with a bubble next to it. Either way just looking at it without a scope it looks to be more of what a spike in the head should look like instead of a crack. Although I do have a die cracked penny. If you can’t see it it starts at the W going down to the top back of Lincoln’s ear. Is this considered what a spike head would be called?
  9. Na not an actual spike head. I wasn’t sure about the die crack or anything that looks like a spike. I think it’s a die gouge only because I’ve never seen blisters on the profile before. I could be wrong this.
  10. Cool spike coming out the back of Lincoln’s head.
  11. I’m sorry there’s so much going on here I can’t rap my head around it. Does any of the 8 combinations of brockage/counterbrockage look like it could be the culprit?
  12. The first photo looks like the same shape of indent in my penny.http://www.error-ref.com/brockage-counterbrockage_combination_8_ways/
  13. Wow that site does have a lot off information about errors. Thanks again..
  14. I know someone who wanted that Nazi coin. I’ll just surprise her and give it to her tomorrow. She probably wants it for her husband and I don’t know the guy lol. If he wants bad mojo then that’s on him. They’re a dime a dozen on eBay. Without the mint mark I can’t tell if it’s the rare 1943 anyway and even something doesn’t feel right about making money off it.
  15. Wow that’s interesting. I know what I know just from seeing a documentary of it along time ago. For some reason the subject of Nazis has come up in my life time quite often. I worked for a moving company and the owner would have me come to his house and clean it while he was away. His place was like a museum. Each room had collectibles of some sort. Of course one was all Nazi era stuff. Helmets, patches and even a couple Nazi Lugers. It sent chills up my spine going in that room. Actually his whole place was uncomfortable because it was big and old but that room I spent the least time cleaning 😂
  16. Yes but isn’t the Buddhist version of the swastika in the opposite direction? Not that it’s right in any form if its mint for evil doings. Do they know why he picked that symbol and altered it?
  17. Agreed and I hope I didn’t say anything to offend you. As for that website I think I got it wrong and it was something like Esty or something lol. Any I see there is inscription on the edge. Is there anyway to get a pic of it or at least tell us what it says. It looks like more then just a date.
  18. Oh and I’d be careful buying anything off that website itzy. People on that website have no clue on what they’re selling. I see a lot of coins which I even as an amateur coin collector wouldn’t fall for as being errors in the least. Machine doubling coins going for thousands of dollars🙄
  19. You said 1999, where is that on this supposed coin, On the edging? Can you get a closer picture of what looks to be the mint mark on the lower left of the captains wheel??
  20. There’s always got to be a profit made some where. If it’s commemorative and the only ones making profit are the ones passing it off as a coin right? Nothing wrong with a company making and selling commemorative pieces as long as they aren’t saying it’s silver or gold when it’s not. They have to make money for making it and I see it as memorializing these people.
  21. The sailing vessel looks like a depiction of the Titanic to me. Just because it’s not sinking doesn’t mean it’s not🤷🏼‍♂️Just saying.
  22. What’s the marking at the captains wheel? Is that a Royal mint mark I believe? I’ve seen it before but not sure.
  23. That’s cool. I definitely would prefer finding an occupation coin. It’s weird but I got this feeling when I seen a swastika on a coin it could be a bad omen.
