  1. I'd be wary of the no return policy.
  2. Check the edge of the coin. In this condition, it is worth 1 dollar. Would be more if it was a high grade mint state example.
  3. I'm pretty sure it's not authentic. Where'd you get it?
  4. I don't know a lot about ancients. But it looks fake.
  5. From the wikipedia page on Sac Dollars: In 1999, the Mint struck a number of Sacagawea dollars in .9167 fine (22-karat) gold.[37] During the initial production of the coins, they were denominated at five dollars in order to help the public distinguish them from their circulating counterparts.[37] The plan was to sell gold versions of the coins to collectors.[37] On March 20, this plan was halted when some Congressmen questioned the authority of Mint officials to strike the coins in a composition different from what had already been authorized.[37] Full-scale coin production never took place even though the Mint maintained that it did have authority to do so, as the coins would be considered numismatic items and not regular-issue coins.[37] Similar gold coins were also struck, this time bearing the denomination of one dollar and a "W" mint mark of the West Point Mint (although they were actually struck at Philadelphia).[38][39] In total, 39 such coins were struck, twelve of which were found to be of adequate quality, while the rest were eventually destroyed.[37] Unlike those denominated at five dollars, the one dollar pieces were "struck to commemorate the historic flight of the Space Shuttle Columbia in July 1999", according to Former Mint Director Ed Moy.[38] The twelve surviving gold dollars were sent into space aboard Columbia on mission STS-93 in July 1999.[38] Following the return of the shuttle, the coins were placed in storage at Fort Knox, where they remained until 2007, when they were exhibited at the American Numismatic Association World's Fair of Money in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.[38] After the event, the coins were returned to Fort Knox; however, the Mint is currently planning to loan the coins to various museums throughout the country.[37]
  6. My top 4 or 5 are all gold coins, and much of their value is just because they're gold, although a couple of them have a significant premium over spot as collectables. Just slightly over 2k for a common Saint Gaudens was actually my biggest purchase. For a non-gold coin, my highest dollar amounts have been $500-$600 for a couple of my Walkers. Edited for spelling.
  7. I could see people in the ancients section maybe trying to steer you away from ebay and towards somewhere like vcoins, for raw ancient coins.
  8. I'm somewhat active on cointalk. I read more than I post. Have been a member for 15 years. And this is flat out false.
  9. Nothing of numismatic value or interest. But it was over $50 bucks worth of change I cashed in at my bank. I call that a win
  10. I was able to figure out how to do it that way. Thanks!
  11. I know there is the public description part. But is there a way for me to have my own private notes on my public registry sets? Maybe to keep track of when I got them and how much I paid..
  12. I was allowed to play an 1836 quarter off an 1836 half. Because of the date. So @ldhair is correct that we are on Bust quarters. My only crime is bad pics
  13. No problem. I got that '41 Jefferson back in change at a convenience store that I frequent. Once, a couple years back at the same store, the cashier asked if I minded getting a half dollar back in change because they were low on quarters. I said that was fine. I have no idea why I just took it and put it in my pocket without looking at the date. It wasn't until I got home that I realized it was a 1964. As I sat down I heard the ring of silver as it collided with keys and other coins in my pocket. I went back to the store since it was so close to home and asked her if she had more halves. She said she had given the remaining 2 away as change in the time since I'd left. Darn the luck. I still wonder if the person or people who got the other ones knew or found out what they'd been given, assuming they were all '64's.
  14. As I said before, FedEx will mark a package delivered without ever even entering my neighborhood. Same zip code is good enough for them. My brother who lives in a different town 45 minutes away says random unmarked vehicles go through their circle drive and chuck the boxes about 12+ feet onto the front porch and then speed away.... FedEx packages I would actually prefer that to the service (Or complete lack thereof) that I get from FedEx.
  15. I read that a while back. I was/am hoping I might be able to request anything BUT FedEx if I speak to a human on the phone about it. If not, NGC will not be an option for me, which sucks because I like NGC. But FedEx's rate of marking my packages delivered without actually delivering them is just shy of 100%. I even filed a complaint through Better Business Bureau, which is the only thing that finally got a human from FedEx on the phone. I haven't tested the waters with them since then, but I don't have any faith in FedEx.
  16. If I ever submit again I will be requesting that FedEx is not allowed to touch my coins at any time. My FedEx delivery guy thinks any house in the same zip code is close enough to throw it in the driveway and mark it as delivered.
