  1. I believe these were actually purchased at the gift shop at the mint. I could be wrong.
  2. It's all cool I'm about to search my solo cup full of chance and the cupholder in my truck for W quarters.
  3. I've seen coins from the west 57th St Collection labelled in different grades. Some have regular numerical grades, some just say something like "Genuine" and I think some may be Details. The fact that this one does not have a numerical grade would give me pause. I have a couple of common Seated Halves from that collection with regular grades like this one, so I'm not sure why the inconsistency.
  4. That would be very cool. I'll let you know if I can make it, though it's doubtful. I'd love to attend one of these bigger national shows. I love Thai food too!
  5. @CoinJockey73 Are you aware that Treashunt has a 15+ page going on CT about trying to get you unbanned? FWIW I've never had a problem with cointalk. But it seems like a lot of members who joined in the last year or two have had unexplained tech problems and/or bans like the OP's. And a lot of the ancient members did leave a while back due to some long stupid argument. But I always thought the ancient section had kind of a weird vibe, very unwelcoming to people who aren't experts on their area of collecting. And 1 or 2 I know were major jerks lol. So the whole thing was just entertainment for me. And there is still plenty of knowledge in the ancients section, just a little less activity.
  6. The motto, "In God We Trust" shouldn't be on an 1847, should it?
  7. MS66+ ? Edit: The more I look at it the more I think MS67.
  8. It's hard to predict how long a coin will sit on a buy it now listing on ebay. A 7-day auction could be a good way to go. But you never know what the outcome is going to be. You'd probably want to set a reserve so someone doesn't get too much of a "steal" on them. Only problem there is you could end up with nothing after a 7 day wait if the reserve isn't met.
  9. I got this and 6 other coins yesterday at the big Missouri Numismatic Society show in St. Louis.
  10. 100% serious. Small world indeed! If there was ever a way to tempt me, it would be a beauty like that from my favorite series I wouldn't want to build my collection through any less than honest means though. My first thought was, "Well, let's get this mess sorted out." I'm glad all parties involved got what they paid for
  11. @Lem E There is a reason I was curious about this one. I admired it in hand for about 10 minutes. Then I started messaging the seller. I had it shipped back to him within 4 hours of receiving it. I can't believe it took so long to get to you!! I got the Lincoln Cent I was supposed to get several weeks ago. I can say from in-hand experience that is a beautiful coin!
  12. "Coin shows should be a place where you can go view coins and buy some if you want and have fun." I agree with this. And I think coin shows are fun and are a great way to buy coins you've examined in person. If you do your homework and look around enough, you can find some great deals on coins too. What I don't understand is why you think shows and grading (especially at a discount) are so linked and that should be expected. I don't even consider grading as a factor in whether or not I attend a show. As Oldhoopster pointed out there are a lot of costs, logistics, etc involved and working on a weekend as well. Why not just mail your coins in? If that is too expensive to you as well, then maybe your coins aren't worth being graded.
