  1. Nice a 65 is a very nice coin, when it comes in you will have to takes some pictures for us and show it off.
  2. Well, Roger would know best, but it looks like you picked the most popular Peace Dollar of the bad guys. I have to ask what grade is it and who is the slab grading company?
  3. I found a new coin shop in Fort Mills S.C. last year so I had to pick up my new 2024 ASE from him and see what kind of stuff he had. A very nice shop, Best Coin's, I do think the mint has cut back on its quality the strike on this 2024 is a bit muddy not as crisp and clean as in past years
  4. Wow that obverse die was stretched to the max. Look at all the lines.
  5. It also could be a lot of years of banging around. I have some bumps I can't explain but there they are.
  6. I have been trying to fill a hole in a cent folder and today I found the filler. I also found a good looking Indian head.
  7. Along with my regular collecting of coins, I roll hunt all the time looking for coins to fill coin folders. Yes, you can buy full sets of coins ready to go but what fun would that be. I have always enjoyed roll hunting and have found some very cool coins through the years. But never have I found a so-called money maker coin in pocket change. I would never discourage someone from roll hunting. I do discourage foolishness, greed and deception. You really have to know what you are looking for and that takes years of experience. Even after 60 years I still learn something new every day. Oh, Just so you know I am roll hunting while reading this thread and typing this reply.
  8. It is a proof set the envelopes are not sealed from the mint. the coins are as good as they get. Just because it is sealed does not mean the coins will be in better shape. It may be sealed to hide the bad coins?
  9. Those are the average prices for old proof sets and mint sets. The proof sets before 1964 in envelopes from the mint were never sealed so if it is someone did it. Almost all the uncirculated mint sets are not perfect coins and never were. You get what they give you in the old mint sets.
  10. Well I found the type 1 in a PCGS holder for a nice price to add to the set
  11. It is still there, I can see it.
  12. It's not very likely to find a FS in any of the 60's nickels.
  13. Just for fun, I think you should check and see how many circulation strike nickels have been graded MS 68, 69, and 70
  14. To me it looks like a grease strike through more than a clash.
  15. It looks like glue left over from scotch tape. Maybe a bath in some acetone would take it off. Just a soak for a bit and then a rinse with water no wiping or rubbing.
  16. No I would not send it in for a reholder ,just try to buff it out.
  17. I have a saying, If it ain't broke don't fix it . I have to ask what is the coin and grade?
  18. It is raised not incuse, so it is more likely to be a die crack than a strike through Henri. No matter what it is it is not a scratch, so it is a variety of one kind or another.
  19. I think it is just the fact that the fields are proof, so that amplifies the raw metal and makes it appear like a matt cameo look.
  20. if you have a question on something it is better to make a new thread than to open an old one. It makes it confusing. About your coin It looks to be damaged and not a mint error. perhaps some better shots in a new thread would help to see the coin better.
  21. You can have Full Steps all the way down to the bottom. (Not likely to be found) but they would count if you did find them.
  22. Or maybe he just has a chip on his shoulder.
