[Quick face-saving edit: NGC & PCGS both authenticate, grade, certify and encapsulate foreign coins. (Now aren't you sorry you threw away all those possibly rare, MS, foreign coins you found in your roll-hunting activities?
🤣
I do save the foreign stuff I find, but I do not send any coins out to be graded. I let others spend their money on that.

Just wanting to warn anyone with an ebay account that within the past week or so your shipping address may have defaulted to a prior address if you have an old one on file. I would immediately check your info and make sure any purchases you have made within the last week are going to the correct address. I am not the only person this has happened to. What a disaster.
Did you get your coin?

I agree this is not a dd,

If you are new to collecting, you may be better off to get a graded coin. The biggest reason is that way you are not taking a chance on authenticity.

That is a nice die crack it looks like this one at Cuds On Coins. Cross reference: RCD-1c-2021-01. JCc-rcd-2021-01. 01/05/2022.

Well on the bright side. I would look at it this way. It does not say Details or Cleaned Like most of the stuff out there.

Very nice coin. A little wear on the high points on both sides. Some minor scratches. Two small hits on the revers rim I would think with some luck would put it at a AU58.But if it is in an old soap bar I might leave it alone.

Powermad, has the best answer. Nothing special, this is common.

There was a craze created by the pandemic and bored people on lockdown getting into coins. They started buying things up and paying more than price guide prices especially for Morgans. It is starting to come back down a bit, but I don't think we will ever see Morgans especially go back to pre-pandemic levels.
Not just Morgans, I think all the coins have gone to high, I go to the auctions all the time and people bid goofy on things. That drives the prices up, but the value is most of the time well below the hammer.

No ill probably go ahead and send this one in to be graded. It's probably not worth much but I think it's neat to know that was the last coin from those 1952 d error don't you?
This is interesting RobertDPG. I roll hunt all the time and like many others here I am more than happy to see a new member and lend a hand to try to save them some money, grief and aggravation on their numismatic adventure. It is important to know the how's and whys of coins before investing in them. Please take the professional advice of the members to help you out. In the end you will have learned a lot...

I will know on June 20. I have toured the Philly mint plenty, and all the past mints that still stand. San Fran and West Point don’t do public tours, but Denver does. And I’m touring that one on 06/20/24 as part of my ANA Summer Seminar trip.
Well, if you think to ask, please let us know.

The date does look a lot like this one . 1942-D DDO-001 (varietyvista.com) Yes Kirt it does not look like the common one 1942 P I agree. I had to look twice. Maybe it is missing markers for proof ?

I work with hydraulic equipment. Not knowing for certain but I would think if all dies were equal at both mints then the pressure and strike speed may play a role. I’m sure there is finesse to getting a good strike regardless of the die used.
Yes, I think the Denver mint has much better or a different type of equipment.

But, today's trends defy my logic on a near daily basis.
Yes Neo, I am looking at gold rising and then I go to check prices on coins, and many are all dropping like crazy. So I wonder why it works this way? Is it to keep the coin market stable?

Sadly my request for reconsideration was declined, and I will have to resubmit with the proper selection on the paperwork; at full expense.
I was afraid this would be the outcome, but at least as duly noted, at least it is a no fee Variety Plus.
I am sorry to see NGC is not willing to fix this if it was an honest mistake. It sounds like it does not matter if it is a free attribution the price is the price.

The hobby has become a pure poop show and is nothing more than a weaponized grading rigged system.. I just don't want to be apart of it.. Everything someone has is garbage until pcgs or ngc says otherwise and that has created a rigged weaponized system.. I just wanted to find unique coins and have fun and share them, not be critiqued and told everything I have is worthless until I pay ngc or pcgs to say otherwise..Grading has ruined coin collecting it's no longer fun,it's become a situation of unless you pay one of two companies than everything is trash...
That statement says a lot. You just joined a month ago? Most members want to help you so they give you honest opinions, no sugar or honey just facts. How long have you been collecting coins. There are many collectors that do not have coins that are graded. This hobby requires many years of dedication and knowledge. It is not like building a model airplane and there is no instant gratification in this hobby unless you can buy anything you like or every coin makes you happy. In the end. It is what makes you and only you happy, not what makes the other guy happy.

No Error the marks are scratches most likely from a coin rolling machine. The rest of the coin could have been subject to chemicals to make the surface look that way. It was not that way when it came off the press, so it is damage.

It is a very bad shot but it could be a cud?
