...dont forget collectability....
Yes. I am not sorry to say I have no Presidential or Sac Dollars. What are those coins made out of Copper Clad? Some of the proofs do look ok but what is the melt value of a regular strike $1 coins compared to a Morgan, Peace or even an Ike.

At one time the Philadelphia mint made all the dies and ship them to Denver so why were they nicer looking coins. Would not all the dies be the same quality or did Denver juice up the dies.

only real difference between old coins and new is their age.
Well maybe the type of metal like nickel, silver and gold help.

I Think that price is average for that coin. With the green label it may be worth a little more but not much.

Is it the 2024 has more of a square edge with very little bevel on it compared to other years., Unless that is a dent on the edge and not just a reflection.

Looks like two drill marks to me, one on each side. You can see where the drill bit or tool walked on the obv and both sides have what appears to be metal displacement. The alignment, meh, who knows. Damage is damage, doesn't really matter how or why.
Correct Mike it does not matter. I will explain my comment. For the OP, There is only one drill mark on the reverse. when you look at the obverse you are seeing the tip of the bit that did not come through. When the OP did an overlay, he aligned two shots over each other at zero tolerance. But we all know it is rare for both dies to be perfectly lined up, so that is why it looks like two drill holes.

It is a large date 82 there are many different types of 1982 cents I think 7 of them

So CK you are saying anything purchased at banks before 1999 will be mostly junk common coins, No BU.
-
There are collectors here like Kurt that buy rolls directly from the mint the year they come out. CK

I know several people who buy such rolls but I'm aware of no specific individual who collects them.
Well from the looks of it, Kurt has some rolls. And Zadok also sees them.

Drill mark for sure, Mike It is not lined up perfect because the dies are not lined up as good as your overlay Tony.

ANACS always put a numerical number grade along with detailed problem on slab …. IMO ANACS was and still is most toughest on cleaned coins I see tons and tons of ANACS coins detailed cleaned while PCGS and NGC will let some slide and straight grade … cleaned coins usually don’t sell very well , unless they are a key date or scarce coin they will exchange and sell …. Sadly there’s a lot cleaned coins out there which is very very common and PCGS alone detected like 16,000+ of them within last 30 days of grading out of 259,000 coins they graded in last 30 days
If these numbers are close than PCGS and NGC on an average grade over 1000 coins an hour. That must be a tough environment to work in and meet a quota.

Good to see you are enjoying the hobby. I advise caution when the time comes to start making purchases. Learn as much as you can and ask questions here before you go down that road. It will save you a lot of grief.

Have just taken for the newest scans and picture images are certainly in the focus mode and those bag mark ever pointed out by one of expert have gone now and the hairs are much clearers can be seen and more shining white appear on the surfaces you are welcome to check and write anything and copy for editing can prove me wrong about these matters remembers let me what you thinks and reply there
I think the skin is more in focus than the coin. I do not think this coin is a good example for grading. But if you have money to spend it is your choice.

My sole regret is, having elected to opt-out of collecting for fifty years,
You are still qualified QA. All the good coins are least fifty years old.

It looks like the reeded edge has been pushed over to the rim. If so not an error just wear and tear.
-
I agree with the others, it must have had a mount for a neckless at one time. It would be better to leave it as is than damage the coin.

Looks like a keeper to me. I would consider having this graded that would help to clarify the authenticity and the value somewhat. In the end it is, will someone want it.

Welcome, As Greenstang said your mint marks look like plating blisters and rot which is common on copper coated zinc cents.
Found an odd quarter today..
