I found this on the back of one whole side of a 82 P copper.. So Mr Watson !!! the Game is afoot.... LoL.. Look close is it Doubling or what metal workers call tinning..... when it gets beat-up on until it disfigures. I have looked at a lot of pennies that are just as banged up without this happening. I see no listing for a copper 82 LD DDR but they may be out there??? Like Me...

1951 D with an almost rim to rim crack on the reverse
Hey Lem.. Question for ya.......Did you buy that coin graded, or have it done and if so is it do they label all coins that have variety's when you send them in? Or do you have to let them know you want it labeled ...??

Nice die crack example Lem E thanks for sharing.
Ya that is way cool. Very nice find . Be careful not to drop it to hard with a crack like that one LoL, Funny you posted about nickels because that is what I am checking this morning for PL FS I have 2 new rolls of 2020 D and I am having a hard time finding any without bag marks... The new nickels are so sharp on the rims that they are cutting each other right out of the shoot at the mint it looks like. Also on the Denver nickel die the steps on the right must be worn out or greased up. they are gone. the first is a D the second is a P

No not worth the cost.
Thanks Coinbuf. I was not sure the return would warrant the cost. Even for a CAM it is not a lot $$$ on places like Ebay and or Heritage

I am just not sure if they want the coins in the case for them to be removed professionally of if you have to remove them. I have a couple of those also Mr. Bill . One of my favorite years for Bicentennials 1975+1976

It looks like something curved forced the metal back into his face his check bone and forehead looks extra high.

So now the big question please ,to you members that have sent coins in for grading is. Should I send one of these old CAM sets in and have the coins graded individually. Does NGC break the set for grading or grade a whole set the way it is.
I am guessing it will cost around $300 for 6 coins and would it be worth it. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.
Thanks Jim.

Check the 1972’s (Philly) for the Type I, II, and III varieties. The Type II is the “good one”.
Thank you for your suggestion. I know the Bank don't want them back LoL...they are to big for them...The 1976 Ike's I put with my crazy 1776 /1976 collection I did put aside the 1972 Ike's for further investigation of the planet Earth in the background. I need a better reference than the one PCGS shows on there site it is hard to see and of course the coins always seem to wear more in that area.

It looks like the one advertised about, hard to say it is real scratchy maybe to cover up being tooled

Okay, so, while looking through quarters on my quest for an infamous "W", I came across this little diddy. I really didn't even want to post this because my eyes see all kinds of things that aren't there on occasion, but I didn't have anyone else at home to tell me whether or not this is the error for the 2005 Kansas State Quarter. Yes, I looked it up and it APPEARS to be, but I can't be too sure of anything these days. 😂😊
It looks like the one advertised about, hard to say it is real scratchy maybe to cover up being tooled. But thats a lot of work to go through for something not worth big bucks.

Yes, I'm hoping someone here would be able to tell me why it was in a sealed enclosure in the first place. They all have a lot of bag marks I guess they were transported in bags before being placed in the packaging. I took the pics with a DSLR but I do plan on getting a USB Microscope. I have one in my shopping cart. Thanks!
I have some mint sets that some of the coins have marks on them and they are in sealed plastic flat packs. So they don't pick the cream of the crop at the mint some members here have told me and the bigger coins are the worst for marks.

Some fun facts I looked up. So you see I bought 2 of the 1979 sets . Well in 79 and 81 they had 2 types of mint marks the 79 box S mint die went bad after half the year so half way through they made a new die with a bolder looking S they started putting that on the lower denomination coins first then moved up to the bigger coins later on. So each of the 1979 sets are different one has the box S and one has the bold S on the small coins. Oh also the cameo backs are black on the 1979 coins except for one of the Susan's is blue on the back. You can see them here

Cool! I just bought a bicentennial proof set(1976) for $10. Seems to be the way to go.
Ya I got to thinking about it last night. The guy at the antique shop I go to is a old coin collector and what if he got the set I bought along with the other 3 years in the Susan B Anthony years 1979 1980 and 1981 and what if they were all CAM What a set of coins that would be. LOL ....... Well Guess what.....................They are so I bought what was left...

There is a really nice one that I would really love to get if they still have it by time I scratch the money up. NGC recognized it on the label and it looks like it could possibly be a later stage of one of them I already have. It's in the same spot and got the same shape. May be a different one but it sure fooled me. Would be neat to own 2 coins with the same crack.
Yes many reasons, One I think many of the breaks are from a deep cutout in the die to close to the edge and after a while it just gives out.

Somewhere between 2017 and 2019 Roosevelt developed both acne and cold sores pretty badly. Seems a mint die lives a pretty rough life.
Ya Woods020 take a peek at my Chery pickers post .I got a whole bag of dime variety's and some die breaks . I sure am enjoying all the stuff you guys share. I hope you guys been liking my shots.

Hello Everyone. I just joined as I am interested in getting more familiar with how to grade coins and maybe even see if I can afford to collect some, LOL. I guess I'll just jump into the most active thread
I currently have an interesting find. It is some kind of promo package that contained 12 1972 Eisenhower Dollars in uncirculated condition and am wondering if anyone out there has heard of anything like this around that time. I am attaching pictures of one of the coins front and back as well as a picture of the sealed enclosure that the coins were in. I would like to know about grading the coin (ninjagrades welcome) as well as any information regarding their origins.
I also have a few of what I think are errors that I will be uploading as well for comments. Thank you.
Welcome to the forum. I am not a expert like some of the other members here and there are some really good people to ask. The coins were nice at one time but it looks like it has a lot of bag marks. Nice picture. Was that with a phone or a USB microscope.

I thought I would stop by my favorite cheap spot for coin sets and see what I could dig up today. I grabbed this 1971 set ,sorry it does not have a s dime but it was nice and a little CAM looking and for only $5 what the Heck.
But then I saw this 1985 and every coin was CAM on both sides for $5 also. I am no big fan of Susan B Coins but when you look at this girl she is sweet and the eagle on the back with the black color looking space background is real cool.
Let me know what ya think of the CAM please .
