  1. The lady's at the bank were in a good mood today when I went in to get my rolls ,One asked me if I wanted this 1964 if I saved any old coins like this or if I just roll hunted the new stuff
  2. Oh and that $80 a day was 22 years ago. I cant imagine how much it would be nowadays 4 packs of smokes a 30 pack of beer after the 3 hour bar tab and I probably wouldn't be here to talk about it anyway.
  3. I know it is not worth anything but melt. I mostly wanted the 1909 VDB so I bought the other stuff in hopes that looking at them under the USB Magnifier it may yield one keeper. I look at it this way in the old days I used to spend $80 or more a day on smokes, booze and scratch tickets So when I buy junk off and on for 2,5 or $10 whenI am out looking for the good stuff, it is not that big a deal. And yes I do put money aside for the good stuff Woods. That's why I am out there looking.
  4. No not really . But a 1945 Mercury G4 is $4 on the price guide and a 62 Roosevelt is $2.20 and 1904 G4 Penny is $ 2 .So I am close Not that anyone would want any of these
  5. Looks like a bad Die on the new 2021. They did some polishing to try to fix The R + E on Delaware
  6. The coin looks like it was stored in a can or jar with other change stacked on top of it and it discolored in areas, I see lots of half circles. but no die break or error
  7. Thanks for the heads up on the slab Then the coin could have been changed out at one time. Or it could be the real deal but why change the case
  8. Thanks ,That's what I was hoping to hear, The coin is ok but I was thinking at 50 a bit high it was a mirror background in it's day but it has fogged a bit. Not sure if it would cross over unless cleaned up buy NGC conservation. MS 66 is a high grade for a Ben most are worth $400 but again Proof and BS are two different things.
  9. I was looking at this 1963 proof and wanted to see if we have any Franklin collectors here ? I have been told FBL is for BS strikes and suppose to cancel out if it is a proof coin. So my question is would this be worth the $50 ? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks ..JP
  10. Well you just gota take a ride down 81 and go and get some grits, or you can go to the local paint store and get some wallpaper paste. It will be a close second to grits
  11. Oh come on now you must have been on 81 S and hit a Cracker-barrel everything you order comes with Biscuits and gravy and grits
  12. I have one milk spot coin so far out of my whole 36 coin set of ASE's and I may replace that one if no others get spots. I heard somewhere if they don't get spots after a few years they most likely don't have the imperfections in the metal that brings the spots out. We will see
  13. Thank you for looking at the penny DW. No others from NGC have yet to comment on the ask NGC post. I will most likely be sending this in anyway I just wanted to know if it would be labeled as a Ragged Fissure or just bad planchet. As far as the strike you mentioned I don't think the hub would have tilted to make a uneven strike. I think the planchet was whole until after the strike keeping the hub even and then the piece fell out afterwards . I like the fact that it has been kicking around for 40 years and we are just finding it now.
  14. I hate to type, I am from the old school of just say what you have to and get back to work. I can be long winded some times but try to be quick and to the point. I do read the new members post they need the support when just starting out.
  15. Yes it is a bit off the wall. I paid $40 for a regular strike type 2 coin and I think that was only because the dealer I go to paid $38 He only buys a small amount of bullion just to keep his regular coin customers happy. I can see maybe paying $75 to $100 for a proof slab coin but that would be my max. I know a lot of you guys had to pay more when the mint did there on-line thing but that was a different situation. I am not paying a dealer who (pe-orderd) coins for the regular price and is just trying to take advantage of the hype. They are also selling the old ASE type 1 for the same price 239.99 if you get them together you get a deal of $475.00 can you imagine how many nice Morgan's I can get for that price.
  16. Here's a good deal , I got this price in a E-Mail from a coin place I have used in the past.... Sorry not this time.....NGC Graded Proof 70 Silver EaglesLimited Sale Price of $239.99
  17. I think the OP is saying it has been graded 66 then cracked and graded somewhere else at 67, now there are two stats for the same coin the first TPG did not delete it from there list because they think it is still out there. So it is now on the higher list but not subtracted from the lower list>>>>>this is way to deep for me..
  18. I keep all my coins in a coffee can in the back yard under the old oak tree. No I actually do the wooden oak cigar box in a dry safe also. I keep the mint sets in there cardboard boxes in small paper bags in the safe. If you are not going to sell it then do not grade a coin unless you want to show it off. I would do as Coinbuf said with the 70 and later sets but there are a hand full of proof sets that have a good resale so check the price chart on those before you break the good ones up for books. Also there is no rush the coins wont go bad right away so take your time and have fun with it. and welcome to the forum. JP
