1881 O Morgan grading assistance
Mr.Bill347 replied to B.L.21's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I agree, the toning of authentic toning usually runs off the coin doesnât it? As if another similar coin laid on top of it for a long time. There are scratches on the toning at 10 and 11 oâclock, plus bag marks and scratches in the field and whatâs going on in front of libertys nose? Scratches behind the braid. Thatâs just the obverse . The reverse has deep scratches under the arrows and what are those tick marks under the motto? Imho, fake toning after cleaning AU -
That coin looks very âpaintedâ pass on that one. Iâm betting you could wipe that right off and the coin would be worth the same amount afterward

Welcome, I have purchased entire sets, partial sets and quarters on ebay. Got an entire set 1964-2020 Kennedyâs all mints in books for $200. Got a set of almost complete Roosevelt Dimes and a set of MS and Proof zlincons in books for a reasonable amount. Kinda like a kick start. Watch for sellers which have sold lots of items and mostly positive feedback. Also check against already sold items to insure you are paying the right price. For individual coins use the NGC coin explorer and finally two words of advice, never clean a coin, use gloves when handling and submit good focused, cropped photos here and you will save your self a lot of money and aggravation. As James stated, you can always get an opinion before you buy. And there are real experts here (not me by a long shot). good luck.

Has Anyone seen or bought this set?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
James they did produce a silver coin version, but Iâm sure the one I bought isnât one of them! I donât care, it is only for a simple display set Iâm building anyway. Thanks Bill -
I read that the 2012 14 coin proof set is one of the highest price proof sets to date, so when I saw this 14 coin set for $70 with free shipping, I thought it was a reasonably good deal. 14 proof coins for $70?

Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
Aww nuts! I went ahead and bought it on EBay for $18.99 . Even if itâs cupronickel, it will sort of complete my anniversary set. I gotta be wacko! -

Mr.Bill347 replied to Mr.Bill347's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
James Iâm not surprised but passed on them since they were cupronickel. I also already have both of the 201 Eagles, waiting for 2021 Morgan cc and 2021 peace dollars as well as having purchased the 2021 Brittania silver and the 2021 Queens 95th birthday coin. So I guess my own set. -
So itâs not really coin but any ideas?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Thomas Beers's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I can tell you this. The One dollar silver certificates are selling between 10-12, the Red Seal two dollar bills 10-15 and the 5 dollar red seal notes are selling for 10-17 on Ebay. -
You lucky dog! I think your paying off someone at the bank on the side :0)

Derick, coin grading is expensive and most of the time you will not be pleased with the result unless you can show some of your cents with good clear, in focus, cropped photos to this of us here. It might save you a lot of money. You can always do as I did, fill some books. For $25 you can buy all the books necessary, and have the enjoyment of filling them. It took me about six months but I have every cent from 1909 to 2021 all mints with the exception of the vaunted 1909 s VDB. It will take a while to get that one. Welcome to the forum and happy collecting. Our rule of thumb is that if a coin is not worth $150, it probably isnât worth grading. Exceptions do apply for rarity.

Very nice JP! What luck you have! I donât know enough to verify your grade but your judgement seems right but certainly a good MS. -
NGC Registry - What new features would you like to see added?
Mr.Bill347 replied to Ali E.'s topic in NGC Registry
I would like to see a photo editor added to the registry. Especially the ability to rotate pictures to the proper orientation. -

Fake Graded Coin ?
Mr.Bill347 replied to LDH Coins & Memorabilia's topic in Newbie Coin Collecting Questions
I agree I think it is a very nice legitimate coin. Doesnât seem to be any slab damage and I donât believe they would bother for this coin. Although your ms66 shows a value of $155 -
