  1. You actually got me looking at starting a type set so I did an autobuild from my collection. I don’t have much in there but it is a good way to start looking at other coins. I did step away from the nickels for a moment and picked this up last night. Have been looking for a nice woodie Lincoln for a while and found this. Can’t wait to see it in hand. Most likely will take the spot in my type set.
  2. That thing looks like it will be a beauty. You are building one heck of a type set Woods. Everything I have seen going into that set looks top notch. Keep it up my friend.
  3. I was surprised to see the chest feather detail. You may very well be right about the weight. It is a nice strike.
  4. The reeding on the edge was even still a little sharp. Thought maybe a mint set had been broken up or something and spent. Who knows. Now it’s in a flip.
  5. Nice finds JP. While not any type of error or anything, I did find this surprisingly crisp clean 1993 P quarter in change the other day. I was shocked how good of shape it was in.
  6. He does that sometimes. You gotta watch ole Mike.
  7. You will have to check your local KFC.
  8. I think it will P*** some people off that have already built their collections without CAC coins and have a newer collector only buying CAC coins and bumping people out of their ranks. There are competitive people out there that are trying to squeeze every point out of their coins by using error coins and such. I think this will definitely change the game a little in registry set building.
  9. Oh boy. This is going to stir the pot for sure. I’ll bet we see very different opinions on this. Some will like it, some will not. I’m glad business strike nickels don’t get beans. BTW Congrats on the beans @dollarfan!
  10. Bonus trivia question. What design element was changed on the 1957 and 1958 nickels, and changed back to the original design in 1959???
  11. I had a coin go from Philadelphia PA to Reno NV and then back to Illinois, but the worst of my experiences was a set of coins that were coming from a place outside of Chicago (only 3 hrs north of me). Went to 5 different states, made it to Champaign (should be in my hands next day), 3 days later it is in Dallas TX. It was shipped on the 4th of December and I received it on January 14th. The seller and I stayed in contact throughout this little trip these coins went through. We talked several times and he kept apologizing and I would say no worries, it is what it is. Finally it made it to Champaign and we both thought its going to make it. It ended up in Texas and we both lost it! He called 2 different postmasters and low and behold, it was at my house in 2 days. If anything I made a new friend out of the deal.
  12. I don’t know but I hope at least there were some free peanuts. It is a business strike 1957 D. If you consider only 4 graded higher then yes it is high(er) grade. It did show up today. I wasn’t really worried about it not showing up or in a hurry to get it. It’s just the fact that it was here and then all of the sudden its in Mississippi. (Sorry @Just Bob).
  13. I can think of several words and “mysterious” was not one of them.
  14. Well I hope you enjoy your 57 nickel Bob.
  15. This kind of stuff from the post office drives me insane. Not the first time I have seen this and I’m sure it won’t be the last, but come on. Usually when it hits Champaign IL it is at my house the next day. Get it together USPS.
  16. Not sure about FBLs, but Proof nickels don’t carry the FS designation at NGC. Only business strikes.
  17. I see it. Nice coin brother. #8 is pretty cool. Nice pick up.
  18. It will be sent out in the morning. We are a highly reputable company that stands by our word.
  19. We here at Lems Guessing Service (LGS) strive to provide our customers with the best guesses we can come up with. We employ some of the TOP guessers in the Tri-County area. Currently our slabs or “sandwich bags” as some people call them use the “?” on the label at the end of the grade, but we are working on the technology to place this emoji as a replacement. An example would be (MS67+). This technology does require the use of 2 D batteries (not included) and some of the people in our test group claim that the slabs were “too cumbersome” and “didn’t like the added expense of the batteries”. We disagreed, and proceeded with the project. Quality guesses are our TOP priority and we look forward to all of your submissions. We thank you, and remember, when you come to Lems, you always get a FREE onion.
  20. Hello and welcome to the forum. A good thing you can do to look for comps would be to go to the different auction houses like Heritage, Great Collections, and ebay and check the active and sold listings for the particular coin you are looking at. I did find one comp for you on ebay. You certainly went for it on your first coin for sure. I like it. Here is a link to that listing if you haven’t already seen it. Hope this helps a little. Welcome to the hobby, and good luck. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-NGC-MS67FBL-Full-Bell-Lines-Franklin-Half-Dollar-Mint-Set-Toned-/233871467455?_trksid=p2349624.m46890.l49286
