no this would be just a waste of money to have this graded. if anything t would come back with a details grade and a very low one at that.

Kat these guys will give you great information. that CoinBuff article is spot on. hopefully they arnt in a sandwich bag clanking together!!
-
I think you will find that most common date gold in conditions other than UNC will go for spot plus a couple of dollars..... Collectors dont really collect gold in grades lower than XF unless they are really special pieces.

time to go to the banl and get yourself some rolls!!!!! we will see you n a couple of days

EBAY pics can be very deceiving you can hide a ton of scratches and uglyness just by the way you turn the coin and the way the light his it.... bst to make sure they have a return policy

if you wanted to try your hand a putting together a set of halves you could go wit hthe Franklin series. it is fun and can be accomploshed without laying out a lot of money. if you want to look at modenrnseries you can get into Ikes, SBAs both of these can be put together pretty easily. if yo are wanting something a little more challenging you could go for the Walking liberty short set.. this is pretty fun putting together and can be challenging to get them to match.

Well this year i got there earlier than normal to browse the 27,000 SqFt of numismatic bliss at the Orange County Convention center. Started on Row 1 working my way left to right making note of the things i want to come back and take a close look at. got to row three where the honerable VKurtB was manning the ANA booth and intorduced myself. he was very friendly and cordial. lost my wife so i went to find her and bring her back. long story found her over by the shipwreck coins onthe other side of the burse. This brings me to my gipe other then all of the guys starting to pack up around 2 in the afternoon. i spotted a 1861 PCGS MS65+ GOLD CAC sticker (you kow how i feel about stickers) i asked the gent if i could take a look at it. amazing lightly toned seated quarter only a couple of issues i have with it... since when did we start giving away gem quality grades to a quarter that the stars are just blobs without any cross hatches? NOT TO MENTION some crappy company approved the grade by putting their best sticker on it?? whats up with that.... so i told the guy that it is not all craked up to what the packaging says. he looked at me confussed like he was well it is CAC and a + and i said i beg to differ and thatn you for your time.
Whew so that was over now i come to this thing that i hadnt been paying much attention too the big fat "+" sign. When on gods green earth did we start with full on onslot of + signs. Everytime i turned around well it is a Plus ... heres your Plus sign... When did this money grab hit us full on? I mean when i firsts started we had UNc, BU, Gem BU.. then we started with the 60, 63, 65. nothing ever got past a 65 unless she was really special and i mean like wife special. now we have 61, 62, 64, 66, 67...... if i keep taking about this they may star implemting half grades.. oh that is a 64 1/2 + * yadd yadda yadda............
All in all it was a gret show and i spent my allowance for the next year and had a good time.

if it is it is pretty valuable even in the low condition you have it there. it is kind of fuzzy looikng thorugh the plastic and you cant get very good details out of the picture but even in that low of a grade if real is still valuable. the reverse does look like it was removed from one of those coin bezels so it would be a detailed graded coin at best.

Fenntucky is absoultly right. just because a coin has a grade of MS 65 doesnt mean that it is flashy and gem looking. This is why you always need to hold a coin before you buy it. Not all 65's are equal. you need to take into account eye appeal and luster as well as the details of the coin. just becasue a coin says 65 on the holder this is only becasue the group of graders that looked it over thought that the "details" of the coins devices rated that level of grade and not the over all coin. trust me i have seen som real dogs out there at higher grades.

I am thinking like most. i have most of the whitman folers for each denomination full back to the mid 1800's. Most would call these collector coins complet sets that most will never want. but i ahve collected them over time. I think my main focus theze days are on Indian Cents and Buffanlo's. then just about any early Proof i can cme across that i can afford......
Worth grading?

WE just didnt want to see someone waste their hard earned money but by all measn if you wish to have it certified then go for it. you will find that that is not an AU Trade dollar. This coin has been harshly cleaned and is damaged as each one here has stated. but we dont write the check you do.
