Hey.... I'm learning here @Woods020! I looked at the op's pics, before I looked at any replies (yours) and thought to myself somewhere around AU55..... I guess an old dog can still learn some new tricks...lol. The obverse and reverse rims are what first got my attention. Looks like they have definitely seen a little circulation wear if I'm seeing this correctly due to their shiny appearance. The cheek looks good but the hair lines and one of the cotton boughs looks slightly smoothed (granted it's not a weak strike on those areas).

Don't want to sound ignorant here nor do I want to change the subject at hand, BUT...... Is Spanish custard anything like Egg Custard??? I absolutely LOVE Egg Custard!!!!

@Woods020 @Mohawk I'm glad to see that at least I'm not losing my mind here regarding my original comment on this thread about what looks like doubling. I know my eyesight ain't the best it's ever been but dang...this one sure would have fooled me. I too appreciate all the feedback regarding this coin and other's perceptions on it.

Aw.... heck.... just get some good ol' Folger's Coffee tin cans and throw your coins in there. They have to be airtight, or at least that's what the commercials always alluded to with the sound of the "pffffff" when the can was opened. Good enough for me!!!

Hey JKK, I am a bit confused on this one.... I know absolutely nothing about Drachma's. I have however been forced to recently start learning about them due to a friend who gave me a 100+ pound bag of coins (definitely keeping me busy.... of which contain numerous foreign coins including Drachma's. I feel pretty well versed in being able to distinguish true doubling from worthless doubling (but then again I've been wrong more than right....) but the op's coin I am on the fence about. If I am seeing the pics correctly, there appears to be clearly defined, rounded and well formed additional devices here. I may be seeing some very minor flow lines but to me, IMHO, I'm not seeing enough die deterioration to have affected the devices in the manner in which to cause this. I'm not seeing any reduction in the devices nor do I see any shelf-like appearance (which I know would be MD) so is there a remote possibility this is a DDO? I don't have a comparable pic of this exact coin to compare the size of the devices to see it they are different but this one would have fooled me if it's not a doubled die based on the op's pics. And lastly, I don't know where to even look up this foreign coin to see if there are any known doubled dies. Thanks.

Have you looked up this coin on the NGC price guide??? If it has been graded by NGC (which I assume it has since you said it is NGC VF35) then I could only assume it would be listed with a price guideline on this website.

With all due respect, how can you mistake your coin as being the same as this one taken from HA? The 1988 DDO FS-101 is unmistakable.

This Nickel appears to have had a hard life as apparent by both the Obverse and Reverse PMD damage, dings, dents, scratches, etc..... on the entire surfaces of the coin. Just curious as to why the 0's look so well formed and unaffected? 🤔

Your other coin is not a doubled die either on the eye. If anything, it appears to be a large die chip.

There are not any known 1976-D Roosevelt DDO or DDR Dimes. As has been said, this appears to be a grease filled die issue which is a common occurrence on pretty much all denominations. Your coin is worth 10 cents and definitely not worth having graded.

Never seen it put this way before (or maybe I'm just old school)..... but I am assuming you mean a DDO or a DDR? Either way...neither way is a winner for your normal 2003 Linc.

Hello @Dejone Maxwell. One word of advice if I may add. When handling coins you should hold them by the edge, not in the manner you are holding this coin or other coins I have seen in your other posts. If you do come across a nice MS valuable coin, and squeeze it between your fingers to take a pic, you are inevitably going to leave fingerprints and oils on it which over time will show themselves. This is especially true on a nice shiny copper Cent. Just FYI friend.

I'm glad we agree on one thing at least, albeit I wish it was the other way around my friend . By no means would I ever attempt to push my religious beliefs on anyone or 'shove it down their throat' as so many people do at times of which I am not a fan. I'm definitely not a politically correct person, never have been, never will be, but that is just me. I respect all walks of life, thoughts and positions. All we can try to do is the old proverbial saying, "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink...". Not trying to do that here but it's just a saying and a thought I try to implement in my daily life. I will no doubt keep you in my thoughts and prayers Mohawk.

@Jaynh, with absolutely all due respect, I was once in your 'shoes' so to speak. In all absolute politeness, there comes a time when a collector HAS to go outside the realm of their comfort zone and begin studying external material be it the internet or books. There are numerous websites in which to compare your coin finds to that will no doubt give you, and supply you with, a tremendous amount and wealth of knowledge and information. That's exactly what I did after starting out here on this NGC forum after numerous posts. We can only "lead you so far" here until you need to get to the point of branching out and learning numismatics on your own. If you have a questionable coin then by all means post it here, we love them!!! A quick look at your profile here on NGC shows me you have a tremendous amount of questions regarding Lincoln errors and/or varieties. Believe me, that is my love too as I absolutely adore Lincoln's Cents!!!!!! There are numerous external websites in which you can learn from, learn about, and compare your Lincoln Cents. I am not trying to push you away from the forum by any stretch of the imagination!!!! I promise you!!! What I am trying to get across here is that the more knowledge you can arm yourself with, and the more personal learning you can aquire about Lincoln varieties and errors, the better informed you will become as a collector and therefore not have to rely on others as you build your bank of knowledge.

Yup!!! I hate the Zincolns and what they have evolved into. Long past are the days of real copper Cents and true doubled dies which is what got me into collecting in the first place. Sad......very sad! But.... our great guberment (what's left of it, if anything at all) I believe is trying to eliminate coinage all together, I'm pretty convinced. If I am breaking a "political rule" here on the forum then SO BE IT! If God loving Americans can't stand behind what is right and correct then to heck with all else!!! Just my 2 cents here!!!!

I will have to say that is one incredibly horrible place for a plating bubble to show up! That would fool a lot of people for sure. I actually found a 2006 Linc just the other day and thought I'd found the DDO ear variety for that year. It looked almost 100% identical to the known variety but I was able to take a toothpick and well..... it was a small blister..... dang it!!!!! You may want to do the same thing to yours and take a toothpick, press straight down on the oddity under the ear of your coin, and see what happens. If it disturbs the 'lump' anyway at all then it is a blister.

Well, my little girl strikes again and touched my heart where it counts. I think at 11 years old, she may be the next numismatist in my household, I'm loving it. I was scrolling through some coin and precious metal dealer's websites yesterday and she was right there with me looking at all the cool bullion and silver rounds that are out there now. Of course..... being a HORSE LOVING FANATIC of a little girl (she will always be my little girl!!!!) this one silver round just happened to show up while her gaze was fixed on all the cool and different designs that are available these days. So....... she say's, "Daddy..... I would love to have 'that 'one.....". What does a loving father do???? I think you all know the answer on that one..... Should be here in a week or so.

I just ran your Cert. Number on NGC verify and it comes back to this coin, no photos for it though on the verification site. Not that this helps but it appears to be a legit slabbed NGC graded coin.

Yup, there's some different names for them for sure. We have sunfish, bream, bluegill, etc..... I was alluding to the pronunciation of Crappie. Southerners call it a "C.r.a.p.-E" (or at least I do). Our northern counterparts tend to call it a "Crop-E". They get pretty big down here and are oh, oh, oh, soooo good to eat!
