Actually just found one more which appears to be from the same die but in a totally separate roll. This one appears to be an earlier die stage compared to the other ones. They hadn't aggressively polished the die yet on this one as compared to the others. Still pretty neat finds to me.

Thought this was pretty cool. I bought a few rolls of Lincoln BU's at the Dalton show of some know dates for doubled dies. The seller I purchase them from said he filled his plastic coin roll holders from bulk bags. Went through rolls of Lincoln: 1980, 1995-D, 1996 and then I had this roll of supposedly all 1995's. All the other rolls were as stated but this roll of '95's was all over the map containing numerous different years. Just happened to find three 1997 Linc's that came from the exact same die. Notice the die chip on the left side of fourth column. Pretty neat to see the progressive die state on these three (in not particular order) and they all have the same markers on the reverse in the way of the polishing and a couple of tiny die dots as well. Just thought I'd share these. Thanks.

I'm clear on SMS of other denominations. @RWB, are you referring to the use of SMS pertaining to these Quarters and that it should not be used?

@James Zyskowski, I am by no means a Peace Dollar person by any stretch of the imagination. Your pics, reference and post shows a 1925 Peace but the OP's coin is a 1922... Just wondering.....

Me neither Mike . I’m a Linc fan and collector myself. I’m speculating too about this one and if it is worthy of submission.

Hello Mohawk. Thank you for your reply. As I commented earlier, I can’t express the beauty of this coin, found in a wrapped bank roll, and I’m not even a Quarter collector. This one stood out like the proverbial saying “A sore thumb….”. I am contemplating about submitting it now that it is believed to be a business strike and not an SMS. Are there any opinions, which I don’t ask about very often concerning grading, if I should have this one graded??? I have looked at previous sales and anything in the business strike MS67+ to 68 look to be worthy of submitting. I don’t think I would lose $$ either way but once again, it would be neat to have a CRH find graded at a possibly higher MS. Edit: heck…. Why not….. I will submit it just to see what it comes back graded as. It’s only money……, right?

If it wasn’t for that reeded edge contact mark I would almost be tempted to send this in to be slabbed. I’m pretty sure it would go at least 67, maybe better. Whatever looks like a ding or mark on this coin, from my pics, is not there (except the reed ding). This thing is spotless, especially the reverse. I don’t think I would lose money. I’ve looked at last auction results and after about a 7 year or so time frame these things really went up in realized price. It would be really neat to have found a coin like this, in the wild, while roll hunting that would slab out at 67 or better…… but then again…. I may be way off base (my wife always says I am way off base….🙄)….. thus one more reason I don’t play the lottery.

The SMS’s of these State Quarters (at least for the one we are discussing) do not seem to bring as much of a premium versus the normal MS version. The SMS’s are considerably lower priced by both NGC and PCGS as opposed to MS.

Just pulled this one out of a random bank roll. I was in awe at the beauty, toning, luster and overall condition of this Quarter despite the reed mark on the obverse under the MM. Also found a Kansas 2020-W 75 Privy in the same roll too. I'm not a Quarter collector but I do enjoy beautiful coins no matter what the denomination. I did some research on Quarters, and this one, and learned that there are MS and SMS (or SP) for the State Quarters. I'm well aware of SMS's in some other denominations but I did not know anything about Quarter SMS's (once again, I don't collect them). Other than the explanation I found that a Quarter SMS has a satin finish, this is all I know at this point. Typically on an SMS, say the 1965-67 Jeffersons for example (I won't mention the controversial 1964...), there are other distinguishing factors than just a 'satin finish'. I just wish I had a better phone these days for better pics as my crappy phone doesn't do this one justice. Any input on this one as to if it appears to just be an extremely nice MS coin or if it is an SMS for this year and mint. Thanks!

This is a pic of the doubling elements you need to look for on a 1995 Lincoln DDO FS-101. The last pic you added is showing either machine doubling or lighting glare, or both.

I agree with both @Coinbuf and @Greenstang. Definitely not a doubled die. But that Cent was either struck with a gnarly overly polished die, maybe some grease thrown in there, or possibly both? Don't think its roller lines..... or is it? A lot of weird stuff going on with this one IMHO. Definitely not a Mint error at all and worth only a Cent.

No sir, not a double die. The 1995 DDO Lincoln is very prominent on LIBERTY and part of IGWT with the date being unaffected. If I remember correctly the 1995 DDO FS-101 is a form of pivot doubling, class 5 if I recall.....

Good info and observation there. I'm not a Dime guy but I just researched your theory, out of curiously, as to when TPG's implemented the FB and FT designation. Both NGC and PCGS started this designation in April of 2003. I also read that NGC takes into account the vertical lines on the torch body as well as the bands themselves. Maybe that's were it was very slightly lacking, on the vertical lines? But then again, I am also not akin to the coin holders and which ones were used for a certain time frame or year period. I've been meaning to educate myself on this topic regarding the holders as there seems to be a lot of discussion and feedback here on the forum regarding the topic of holders. Thanks!

That's all I have ever used, my iPhone. I used to have an iPhone 10 which took great pics but it died and all I have is a 6 now...... junk!!! What I do is take a 10X loupe (I prefer a triplet lens loupe because they have zero distortion by means of their construction) and I place it directly against my phone lens. I then zoom in on my phone to the appropriate level and then move the phone closer or further away and take a pic. You have to be steady, obviously, at higher magnification for close-ups but it shouldn't take you long to get the hang of it. You should be very good to go with an iPhone 12!! Those things I hear take some incredible quality pics. Also, meant to add, 1968 Lincolns are known to look like yours where IGWT is tucked up close to the rim and the L is also tucked close to the rim. Looks normal to me too other than was said earlier about it possibly being a very slight MAD.

Hey Bill, did a quick look up on this one and there is a pretty good spread on past sales for a 32' S. I am by no means a grader but I would put this one somewhere in the F range and to me it looks cleaned but still a nice looking coin. Obviously, this year had a relatively low mintage and I would think they are not that easy to come by. Hey man..... If you need it to fill an album, and have no intentions to get it graded, and don't mind a few bucks here or there on the price, then heck.... go for the $84. If you can offer less, maybe for $65-$70, I would try....But then again, buy the thing if not especially if you need it! You have my blessings!

I agree with ya @Woods020 about @Lem E's photos......I'm wondering if my old Polaroid camera (you have to be a bit older to know what those things were) with a 10x loupe held in front of the lens would take a good picture.......??
