  1. Thank you Coinbuf for your comment. I was actually just moments ago offered a relatively nice amount of $ (close to 4 figures) for this coin (maybe someone has lost their mind... don’t know ..). Not sure if I want to let it go though even though the offer was very tempting. I guess I have been searching long enough now and have simply grown too “fond and close” to these types of coins that I have so luckily found. Thanks!
  2. Thank you for your comment. Found this Cent this morning in a standard ol’ LOOMIS paper wrapped bank roll from my local bank. Pretty neat. The date is still visible as you can see it is a 1998.
  3. So.... I’m roughly 0 for 20 on doubled dies.... (been shot down so many times only to pick myself up, dust off and keep on looking..... haha) but I did find this today and thought I’d post it for some feedback and to see if there’s any significant value to it. Not exactly sure what the exact term is for this strike other than its obviously way off center. I’ll research that soon. Thanks for looking.
  4. I think I’m going to spend more time metal detecting and gold dredging........ I’m definitely much more successful at those hobbies than I am at coin searching...... Other than my REAL 1998 WAM I posted awhile back, my batting average is approaching -.001. 😁 As always, thank you for your replies.
  5. At first glance I thought what looked like an extra earlobe was just a light colored, worn or polished spot on the coin. I gave it a thorough looking over and discovered it was not any of the above. Looking at the cent from a more flat angle from the southwest proved to me it was actually a raised image as you can see in the photo. The coin is in pretty decent condition despite the green grime on it. No pitting at all. Extremely little PMD as far as I can tell and I’m NOT even considering cleaning it...... Do I possibly have something here? Thanks.
  6. Thank you all for your generous input. I am totally clear about this coin. Going to put this thread to rest now. As always, I appreciate everyone’s time. Thank you.
  7. Ok. I guess I get it. Maybe people are “pulling my leg” so to speak by telling me to send it in, not sure..... I took it as being serious but maybe I was mistaken. Obviously NO.... I don’t want to waste money but I took the previous comments at honest face value about sending it in. I’m a little confused.
  8. Not sure where this thread is going. Just wanted to know about my 64’ Kennedy and the possibility of having it graded based on its condition. I can play with the “photo crop” settings all day long and make mine look like a masterpiece but that is NOT the way I operate. My pics are taken on my iPhone WITHOUT ANY effects. Granted, my pics look “grainy” at best but, coin in hand, this thing is absolutely beautiful and I will definitely be sending it in. Thanks!
  9. I know there are some very knowledgeable experts on this forum and value your input. I was going through my Mom’s stash of coins she has collected over the years and lost myself in a bag of 64’ Kennedy’s. Started comparing the grades of my “better looking” coins to those of different grading companies. I actually have several that look as good as the one I have posted. I reviewed numerous auctions for the year and mint of this coin and did get a bit excited. My pictures aren’t the best and they really don’t do this coin justice. Need to work on the lighting aspect..... Would anyone mind giving me their opinion if I should get this coin graded or would I be wasting my time and money. Thank you.
  10. Agreed 👍. I just thought it was a really neat find for pretty much one of the first nickels I happened to pick up and examine. I know it’s not in very good condition and I am fairly certain it is definitely not PMD. It’s just cool to have found a mm error like this right off the bat. Thanks.
  11. Totally new to nickels here.... Pretty ironic in that I picked up a $2 hand rolled roll of nickels at my corner store yesterday after buying a few items with cash and got back some pocket change. I figured I’d start looking and learning about nickel values and varieties this morning before I even opened up this roll of Jefferson’s I got yesterday. One of the first nickels I read about this morning was the 1955 D/S. So, I picked up a nickel from my pocket change from yesterday just to start learning the nomenclature of this respective coin. I was a little bit in disbelief when I looked at the mint mark on this coin. Am I seeing what I think I see? Or is this some type of RPM? I looked on variety vistas and saw numerous varieties of this mint mark. Couldn’t quite narrow it down other than maybe -002?Thanks!
  12. Pretty much been putting aside all the new 2020 Linc’s as I search through regular bank rolled cents. Just wondering if anyone has come across any form of a 2020 Shield error? I did a quick search on this forum but didn’t see anything. I noticed one design element, on the reverse of a 2020, that really stood out at me. Thought I’d throw it out there for any comments. Not sure what to call this small design element on the reverse but the additional “doubled image” is pretty much identical in size and shape. Thanks.
  13. Thank you Coinbuf. That is good knowledge. I have bought and sold on eBay in the past but never anything related to coins. I am all about respect, integrity and truth and want to make a good name for myself if I enter the coin selling arena. Hopefully I won’t “step on my toes”, so to speak, but if I accidentally do, I hope the guys and gals on this forum will overlook my deficiencies and chalk it up to learning. Thank you all. -Greg
  14. Thank you Greenstang! You are always a great help. 👍
  15. Hi Alex. Thank you for your reply. I am sure someone will give me some well guided info on my questions. There have been numerous members on this forum who have literally “bent over backwards” to help me learn and expand my knowledge on numismatics and collecting, all of whom I am very thankful for.
  16. Not sure if this is the correct forum in which to ask this question so please redirect me if needed. I’m looking at selling a few of my Lincoln Cent finds here on the NGC forum. I want to abide by all rules and regulations. I’ve never sold any coins here or elsewhere. My coins that I would like to offer for sale are neither NGC nor PCGS graded. I have posted many photos of my coins on this forum in the past and have had some extremely nice compliments, from seasoned veteran members, about the quality of my photos. In a nutshell, here are my concerns/questions. -Does a coin have to professionally graded/certified to sell on the NGC marketplace? -Should I assign a possible grade to a coin I post for sale (in my opinion based on research from coin grading services by using their designated MS.... photos)? -I am not familiar with the coin marketplace policies even though I have read several older threads concerning the use of that forum. If someone can please direct me to a newer/updated profile or “rules set” for selling here it would be greatly appreciated. I am not an EBay guru (maybe I need to be and learn more about selling there) so any input concerning this would be appreciated. -Lastly, but not least, does this forum have a bidding system or simply a firm set price for purchases? My first coin I would like to put up for sale, or possibly see what it would “bring” (even though I truly do not want to part with it but I am faced with some medical bills I have to cover) is my red 1998 WAM in very good condition. I also have the 199 “TRUS” greaser MAD that I would like to get an offer on. I know this is a lot to ask. If someone could kindly explain the selling process here on the NGC website I would appreciate it. Thank You
  17. I’m perfectly clear now. Good photo Just Bob and I’d like to thank everyone for your input and comments on this thread.
  18. Trying to get around the 4.88MB file size. Here’s some more photos. I don’t see much of anything on the obverse as compared to the reverse.
