  1. Here are a couple more photos of this 1974 S MM. I just now realized the oddity on the 7 in the date. Please advise. Thank you.
  2. Roger that Greenstang. I did some more looking into 1974 s MM’s and their potential for RPM’s on Variety Vista. Granted the pic I supplied was not the best to discern PMD vs. an RPM. What “I” can see under magnification, with coin in hand, is that there is not any flattening on that upper left curve. It’s actually pretty well defined and the underlying “S” is rounded much like a a true DD. This Mint Mark appears to fall into the MMS-008 category best I can tell, not the blob MMS-009 that was introduced later in the year if I understand that correctly. The serifs and overall curvature resemble the 008 as opposed to the 009. The 008 “S” looks much thinner in totality which makes me wonder where the extra material at the top left of the S came from. I will do my best to take a clearer photo and post it. Thank you. -Greg
  3. I’m completely clear Karen. No worries and thank you. Just block or ignore this individual. I also just received Kbbpll’s reply about flagging this guy which I hope we will all do. Take care.
  4. Hello to all. I am very pleased to be associated with this forum and I completely enjoy the very intelligent conversations and posts amongst those who are TRUE learners of numismatics and sincerely want to become EDUCATED coin collectors . Great post Karen by the way (not trying to dim the mood here) two thumbs up to you!! 👍👍. However..... I agree with VKurtB on this “——“ that keeps hacking serious posts and conversations. Can someone in “BLUE” (with ALL due respect) please moderate, or better yet, remove this individual from this forum? I myself, as well as numerous other valuable members, have read more nonsense from this “poster” than should be allowed. I truly see way too much time being spent on frivolous nonsense from this “member” which takes away from the true value of this forum!
  5. I am familiar and clear that there are no known examples of a 74 s RPM. I am trying to learn here on this forum and take all comments, criticism, replies and opinions to heart. In your professional opinion, what could have caused this potential RPM to have occurred?
  6. Been batting about 0 for 8 recently on true DD’s.... but I do check all of my MM’s as well. Here’s one I just found. Looks like a possible RPM due to the decently defined fattening at the upper left curve of the S. Thank you! -Greg
  7. You are correct on the AM spacing as it can be very misleading. I have been fooled a few times myself. There are definitely other things to look for which I am sure you are familiar with but thought I’d add to this post for others to realize. Most importantly the equidistant spacing, for a WAM, between the A and two T’s in states as well as the designer’s initials, FG, being closer to the monument devices on a wide AM and further from the monument on a close AM. It’s totally opposite than you’d think regarding the FG initials. Hope this helps anyone that may be new to the hobby.
  8. Can’t argue with you on that one Greenstang. I’d only read about one somewhere in the past. Never saw the actual coin but it was brought up on some forum at some point I do remember. If someone has found one then, like you said, why is it not more well known. Wasn’t trying to mess with this thread, just thought I’d throw it out there for discussion since you supplied that great CAM and WAM reference chart earlier in this topic.👍. Maybe one might just very well show up in the future. Anything is possible. Take care my friend.
  9. I can’t remember for the life of me where I read that someone had potentially found a 1993 WAM but I do remember seeing something about it awhile back. I am however sure that this time my mind is not experiencing “pareidolia” in having seen this somewhere online in the past, 😂 I do check the back of every 93’ cent though just in case. If I can find where I read that I will let you know.
  10. Correct me if I am wrong Gentlemen but I think there has been found a rare 1993 WAM out there from my research. Can someone verify if this is correct. Thank you.
  11. I’m clear on all the replies. Thank you guys very much for all of your comments and input. I appreciate it. This one was definitely a weird setup, especially not being able to see the letter from “side view” angles and in different lighting. I’m still going to hang onto it in the event I get a better viewing system other than an iPhone, a loupe and a flashlight..... There’s definitely the makings of a T, viewed from overhead, but like you’ve all said it must be something else that would be plausible to make this worth, well... nothing. . Putting this topic to bed now. Thanks again to all! -Greg
  12. I have no idea. When viewed from directly above the coin (as shown in my original photos) the T is clearly visible without any type of external light source or manipulated lighting. Rotating the coin 360 degrees, at various angles with different lighting environments, does not produce any discernible results as to the T being raised or incuse. I understand that without having this coin in hand it is simply impossible to tell what is going on with it. I believe I should send it in for evaluation.
  13. This pic was taken at a slightly different angle and lighting.
  14. I was able to take the following photos of this coin. I have taken the best pics I can with the equipment I have. Please forgive me for the terminology of these photos as I’m not sure whether to call them flipped, reversed or inverted images. I do know that I was able to bring the fields to the forefront while leaving the devices recessed as you can easily tell. I did try seeing if there were any shadows that were projected from the “T”, whether possibly inverse or raised, and there were no shadows at all. Basically, the “T” is only visible from directly overhead and it is flat. Please standby as I have to resize these photos before they will send.
  15. Makes total sense Just Bob. I’ll do that when I have a chance this evening. I will post my results. Thanks.
  16. I have been looking at this coin for an hour now to answer this very good question. Depending on which angle it is viewed from, as well as lighting conditions, I can clearly see a perfect letter T from overhead. If viewed from a much lower angle, meaning looking across the face of the coin to see if there are raised letter, the field where the T is located appears to be smooth with no plate bubbling at all. Not sure if this info helps at this point. Please bear with me on this one until I can take some good photos from different angles and lighting to post. It will be later this afternoon before I am able to return to the forum. Thanks again.
  17. Hello Coinbuf. Yes sir, you have my permission to post my photos on another board. Thank you for asking and I appreciate your offer. I also appreciate everyone else who has commented on, and “liked”, this coin thus far! Thank you all for your input.
  18. Any input is appreciated. Please notice the T on the reverse between the columns. It’s a 97 and I have not found anything online in my researching efforts to figure this one out. Not to mention it is a beautiful 97. Zero damage on the fields and only a few very minor PMD dents on the E and A on the reverse. The only discoloration on this coin, despite the pics, is just below VDB. Thanks.
  19. I stand down..... going to put this one to bed and one day..... HOPEFULLY ONE DAY..... I will find a Doubled Die. 👍
  20. Hey Coinbuf. Sorry for posting over you. I was typing my reply to Kirt while getting some scans done at the hospital and your text just popped up before I realized it as soon as I submitted that last pic. Thanks for your reply.
  21. I was comparing my coin to a photo of a certified 1983 DDR FS-102 I found online. Here’s a partial photo of the coin showing the doubling of the S and O. It just looked to me to be awfully close to the same thing. Not only the doubling but even the overall shape of the O. Thanks!
  22. I’d like to think I’ve learned my lesson on DDO and DDR identification as I have posted a few in the past which I thought may be DD’s but were unfortunately not. No worries because I keep on searching and learning. Here’s one that I found and would appreciate your input. As always, Thanks!
  23. Hello Thompson2. Thank you for your reply. Yes sir, you are correct. What threw me off on this one is the vertical leg on the G of my coin. It appears to have a small serif at the top of the leg but I agree it does not exhibit a full serif at the bottom. Some other things I noticed were the thickness of the initials, the curvature of the G and it’s vertical leg being wet outside the top of the G (on a vertical plane). It looked to me to strongly resemble the 1989. Maybe I found a hybrid.....
