  1. Totally clear on that Ronnie šŸ‘. I can see, and have learned, that these folks on this forum know their stuff and I truly appreciate their input and advice. Iā€™ve said that numerous times before and I really mean it. These guys are true professionals and I would NEVER argue with them. I guess in my learning and coin searching process I can get a bit frustrated when I think Iā€™ve found something but it turns out to be nothing. Iā€™ve come to the realization that ā€œya canā€™t make something out of nothing.......ā€œ. I know that so very well as a retired Detective and need to apply that mentality to my coin searching as well. Thanks again for all the replies, please donā€™t ā€œblacklistā€ me šŸ˜ and I look forward to working with you all in the future on this forum. You folks are a true wealth of knowledge. Have a great Memorial Day, remember our Troops and God Bless!! -Greg
  2. Hello Ronnie and thank you for your response. I will surely take some more pics of the obverse in different light and then some of the reverse just for reference . Itā€™s definitely a ā€œchicken neckā€ as you stated. Itā€™s no doubt an odd coin and nothing that has been tampered with as you can see from the die striations (if Iā€™m saying that correctly) directly in front of the neck. Iā€™ve ran this coin by several numismatic friends, not associated with this forum, and they are clueless on this coin. Just trying to figure out what I have here. I know itā€™s not a ā€œretirement 43 copperā€ but I just need some input. Let me just say that I entirely appreciate everyoneā€™s input on ANYTHING I post!!! I would never ā€œstep on anyoneā€™s toesā€ so to speak. I am open to any and all comments, suggestions, criticism (hopefully not:) regarding this oddity. Thanks.
  3. Hello everyone and thank you for your replies and input. I am no expert and I am still learning here. One question... in the field area below the chin, next to and around the bow tie and neck, there is very good definition if you will notice. Can someone please inform me what these tiny horizontal lines are called? Would all of these line be considered die scratches? Thanks.
  4. I found online one other link about this same type of Cent. However, the guyā€™s 1983 Cent was so badly corroded that it was not easily visible. Fortunately my coin is very clean even though it is brown. Over polishing is definitely a plausible answer. Itā€™s just odd at how defined the neck line is and the bow tie is intact. Just not sure what to think of this one.
  5. Also meant to add that itā€™s a zinc..... wish it was a bronze!!!!
  6. Just found this neat Cent. Thought Iā€™d share it to see what anyone thinks. His neck outline seems well defined but definitely thinner than comparable 83ā€™s.
  7. One other note. The line through the steps on the reverse does not look to be PMD. In addition, several of the ā€œscratchesā€ (in the pics I took) are actually raised die lines or striations. Iā€™m still new to this Cent collecting and truly appreciate any input. Thank very much.
  8. Found this 1964 Lincoln today. The pictures really donā€™t do it justice, wish I had a better camera. After looking on PCGSā€™s photo grade, and then comparing mine, I would appreciate any input. Thank you in advance.
  9. Thank you JKK. I was pretty sure that would be the call. No worries šŸ‘
  10. Went through my momā€™s old coin collection that was full of wheats. This one obviously stood out like a sore thumb. By now I feel I have a fairly good understanding in distinguishing between PMD and Mint errors and DDD. However, Iā€™m a bit stumped on this one. At first glance I was sure it was PMD. However, after looking at both sides of this cent I came to a ā€œsemiā€ conclusion that the ā€œdentsā€ are rather consistent in being in the same location on both the obverse and reverse. It also appears that if you were to draw a line from say 11 oā€™clock and down to 5 oā€™clock on the face of the coin the lines would ā€œconnectā€. This looks to be true on many of the dents around the rim of the coin. I remember reading somewhere about this type of damage that could be caused by some sort of possible die deterioration. Just looking for some input and I wonā€™t be disappointed if the jury is unanimous in calling this PMD. Thanks.
  11. Iā€™m sorry but you are incorrect. This is definitely not a dryer coin. If it was, there would be visible damage to the obverse rim which you can see is in excellent condition. The reverse of the coin has no damage as well.
  12. Thanks Greenstang! I did read about acetone and Iā€™m glad you suggested that. If this coin has value to it I definitely donā€™t want to mess it up.
  13. Hereā€™s one more pic in different lighting.
  14. Found this one in a bank roll last night. Am I correct in calling this a struck thru die cap? Under magnification I believe I can see a very faint partial date of 199 but the fourth number is not visible. It is a zinc coming in at 2.5 on my scale. Just wish it didnā€™t have the ā€œgunkā€ on it.......
  15. Hello all. Greg here. Came across this beautiful coin and the pics just donā€™t do it justice. Just looking for some feedback on this coin. Itā€™s a 1979 P and the entire coin is ā€œgoldā€ colored as you can see. Viewed through my loupe this coin has very high relief on all surfaces (if Iā€™m saying that correctly...). I know there are narrow and wide rim varieties from this year but Iā€™m not sure about this one. Iā€™m leaning more toward a wide rim variety. Not sure if this is a proof or what. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! -Greg
