  1. I don't think it would be possible to file down such a small recess in the face of the die which is ultimately what would cause a cud. I'm leaning toward a file job post mint........ Would still like to see an obverse pic though. Not exactly sure how this would have happened at the mint and I'm thinking PMD. But with that said, however it was done, it did not particularly affect the remaining edge of the coin based on your pics.
  2. @J P Mashoke what does the obverse look like on the same area? Can you post a good pic of that area please?
  3. I actually just clicked on your supplied link and also did go to coppercoins. You hit this one on the head for that DDO listing. Good job and here is the coppercoins listing for your Cent too. http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/diestate.php?date=2019&die_id=2019p1do010&die_state=eds
  4. Hey J P. You definitely have a DDO here, no questions about it. I’m on my phone at the moment or I would look it up on Wexlers or copper coins, etc…. But I do believe it is one of the more “pricey” ones as there are several 2019’s that resemble one another if I correctly recall. No doubt a class 9 doubled die and one of the better ones in this LSC series. Nice find!!
  5. Now we are talking about something totally different here @FTW in relation to the stars on your album page. I’m not going to say the info here is right or wrong speaking solely about the value(s) of the coins listed because I haven’t looked at the current values of IHC’s in quite some time. However, the bulleted and bold print concerning the 1888 Penny is completely valid. We are now talking about known varieties of this coin in which there are several (the printed stars in your album are still only associated with key low mintage dates and nothing else). There is an over date for the year 1888 which I believe is extremely valuable depending on its condition obviously, and very rare. Albums, such as yours, are not designed to hold each of the different errors and/or varieties for each known year. These types of albums only hold each year and their respective mint mark from which a particular series of coins were struck. I think your “chart” is ok from what I can tell without going and researching each of these IHC values. Hope this helps.
  6. @Mr.Bill347, just for the record, we still love you brother (strictly man-love that is)! Regardless of coins, you have a great sense of humor. Quoting your comment on another forum post, "Hell, I can't even get a MS out of the guys here......" made me laugh out loud in a purely friendly and humorous context. I love that you posted this one again in hopes of a better response, shows resilience for sure and I like that trait! Sorry it didn't turn out better this time Bill but I know you will continue to hunt and collect and ultimately I'm sure all of this will not only help you out, as I know it did me in my grading skills, but other collectors as well in what to look for on these Morgans (see there, you contributed more than you ever knew or may have thought about). Good luck buddy!!
  7. Yes, very long chain of beautiful mountains for sure. I'd be hard pressed to ever leave them. However, depending on how you pronounce Georgia, such as Ghaawgha (as some of our lovely Deep Southern ladies do) it could very well contain an h.
  8. And yes Kurt..... please let's do wait until it comes around to our neck of the woods, great proposal! I don't have the means or funds to travel far from my Appalachian Country territory... That is unless a 1974 aluminum LMC were to roll out of one of my bank wrapped rolls..... Hey.... Ya gotta dream big, crazier things have happened!!!! (Yes, I know... keep on a dreaming and dreaming is exactly what that is..)😞
  9. I'm digging it.... (kinda like a dinosaur...) you get it?? (ok.... drumroll please.....🙄)
  10. RWB....... I am in complete disbelief here at your comment which I know was directed towards yours truly! I completely resemble that statement, sir!!!! How dare you liken me to a Georgia hillbilly running a shabby store in GA??? (but I have thought about opening a reputable coin store around here....) just sayin...
  11. I assume you are talking about the printed star on the album page next to 1877. The reason 1877 has a star beside it is because it was the second lowest year of mintage for the Indian Head Cent series. I would be willing to bet there is also a printed star next to the 1909-S slot in your album page because that year was the lowest mintage for the entire Indian Head Cent series. The star is there simply to denote that that year is a 'key' date in the series. The coin itself does not have a star on it, nor should it. In addition, there is nothing special about the year 1888 as there were many millions struck.
  12. Welcome to the forum. I see this coin has already "shipped" based on your pictures. I truly hope you are not the one it is being "shipped to" for the price tag shown. If anything at all..... this coin may be what's called a misaligned die and that is a long shot on my part based on the miniature pictures supplied. This is the best I could come up with from your unclear photos. It's definitely not a double die.
  13. Cool @J P Mashoke, nice coin! I'm glad to see the Chinese are at least handing out some genuine coins these days as opposed to counterfeits.
  14. Welcome to the forum. The 4 on your Cent has taken a hit from another object and has displaced the metal. This is just simply Post Mint Damage (PMD) and is not an error.
  15. @Mohawk, This Cent does have some character after closer examination. The purple circled creature appears to be a TRex eating some other type of creature (yellow circle) which is eating a spalling and decayed slab of who knows what (green circle). Pretty cool I thought.
  16. Can't get the link to open. I would love to read this article.
  17. But hey @Just Bob, at least (and thankfully so) the background of this picture did not disturb you and I as the last post of the op did!!! Phewww!! At least I feel safe eating my dinner now as I peruse the forum.
  18. You were too busy "Goof'n Off"..... sorry.... couldn't resist a little humor here.....
  19. I agree, and pretty beat up at that..... but at least it's a Red!!!!
  20. I can pretty much assure you that your scales are off if they are reading 3.11 grams which is consistent with a copper Lincoln. I can tell by the surfaces of your Lincoln that this is a zinc cored, copper plated Cent. Please look at the mint mark particularly (and not to mention the entirety of the coin). You have split plating and zinc rot around the mm and the date and also on numerous areas throughout the coin's obverse and reverse. Sorry.... this is not a copper Cent.
  21. Not that this is a coin acquisition, but I thought the old schoolers here would appreciate this. I was going through one of my safes tonight and found this magazine tucked away deep in the back and folded up. I can't believe I still had this thing but thought I'd share it with you all as "My latest acquisition, U.S." Heck, for all I know, this thing may be worth something but I highly doubt it. I briefly scanned through it and it is truly amazing where the price of coins have gone since 1997. If anyone wants to know what their coins were valued back 24+ years ago, then shoot me a PM and I will gladly look it up for you for simple info sake. This old magazine is packed full of just about all denominations, years, mm's, etc..... Pretty neat I thought.
  22. Hoghead!!!!!!! I dropped that slabbed Buffalo near where you live in eastern, KY while searching for Wild Ginseng recently and I have been looking for it ever since!!!! I always carried it in my pocket as good luck while Sang hunting...... I demand you return it to me, ASAP!!! PM me and I will give you my address. Thanks buddy!
  23. After reading the much more experienced member's posts here (which I DO NOT fall into that category by any stretch of the imagination regarding Morgans), I am almost embarrassed at my evaluation and guess of the coins's grade. Going from 63/64 to 66 is a huge step as I have learned from the input, and my learning, from such knowledgable numismatists here. As mentioned in numerous threads in the past, the TPG grading process is very subjective and the toning may have bumped it up a grade or two, who knows. One question: Does this mean that I won this coin??? You can ship it straight to my house. My Address is: 90210 Somewhere....... I finally got something correct for once in my life. I'm sorry to my forum friends here if I ruffled any feathers, I just got lucky.
