  1. Thanks. I edited my last reply because I just saw where you had posted the weight and measurements....lol. I think you meant to say the thickness is 2mm and the diameter is 15mm?
  2. Also @GoldBear150, could you also see if it is attracted to a magnet? This may be helpful in determining what you have here.
  3. I photoshopped your picture. I know this "object" has a lot of crustiness on it, which makes it that much more difficult to examine, but to me the area I circled appears to be an eyelet that may have been smashed down and over onto its side and is now laying flat on the surface and this side of the object appears concave due to the look of the outer ring. The other side of this object looks to me to be slightly rounded, or convex/domed, from your pics and the way the light is reflecting off of it. If I had to guess, I would venture to say this may be some type of button and not a coin. Just my thoughts here.
  4. Just an observation here @GoldBear150, but where exactly was this found while metal detecting? I'm going to throw this out there. Could this possibly be a button off of a uniform? Is this thing flat like a coin or does it have any type or resemblance of a domed shape to it? Thanks.
  5. DONE! I will see how this works now. Thanks for the advice Alex and @J P Mashoke. I have also had the same thing pop up on my iPhone numerous times so I will do the same erasing thing here too.
  6. I finally got my feet wet with gold which is completely new to me. Here is my newest pride and joy acquisition, a 1989 $5 Gold American Eagle. I purchased this one from none other than our Coinbuf here on the forum. I couldn't be the slightest bit more happy with this coin and its presentational box and literature. @Coinbuf patiently worked with me and allowed me to take my time in deciding if I was going to pull the trigger or not on this one. I'm so, so, so glad I did. My pics are horridly unclear but I can tell you that this coin is absolutely pristine and 100% immaculate. Thanks Coinbuf!
  7. Can't help but to think of a few 'past members' that may fit the bill.... sad... very sad....
  8. Yeah, I agree with ya there Alex. I wasn't going to install it, no way! Thanks!
  9. Gotcha, thanks. I hate that others are having problems with this too but at the same time I'm glad it's not something solely on my end and a virus or something isn't trying to overtake my laptop.
  10. You're welcome and thanks @Lem E. I posted a beautiful 1967 SMS Jefferson awhile back I purchased raw at the Dalton, GA coin show. I also purchased a 1965 and a 1966 SMS at the same time and have been meaning to post them. I may do that now. Just having problems taking good pics with the phone I currently have. Not sure why, it's an iPhone XR (my second one...) and the last one I had took great pics.
  11. Ok, thank you. Should I post this in the "ask NGC" forum? Or is that a waste of time?
  12. Hey RWB, is there any way to keep this from interrupting my viewing and commenting??? It happens sporadically but often enough that it is very annoying!!!
  13. I just came across a thread VKurt started earlier this month about the "site being broken". Reading up on it now but not sure it relates to this. If only I was in my teens again and knew more about computer software........ ARGH!!!
  14. I keep getting this screen showing up each time I perform an action or switch forums. Is this legit or some type of spam/bug? Thanks.
  15. @TopPopLowMintage I, and I feel confident in saying our members here on the forum, don't need ridiculous and exorbitantly priced coins advertised here that are worth 1/3 of your asking price.
  16. @Deiter First of all I should have welcomed you to the forum, so Welcome! Secondly, believe me.... everyone here (except for maybe two members whom I love and respect them both no doubt) have made mistakes like this in the past. Sometimes it's a BIG mistake, sometimes not. Luckily your purchase wasn't "too" big of a hit in the big scheme of things considering what the seller could have tried to pursue price wise based on the "fake" and misleading slab label for this coin. Water under the bridge so to speak and a valuable, albeit a little costly, learning experience.
  17. Another thing Deiter. This coin IMO is not a DMPL, nor would it straight grade at MS66. Not sure if you, or who, purchased it under the guise of the slab label but I can assure you it is not a Mint State Morgan. The price guide shows this coin at over $2,000 for a MS66 DMPL when in reality it is probably a $50+/- coin if that due solely to the damage. Hopefully you or someone else didn't get taken on this one.
  18. Your Kennedy Half is a Silver Proof. Based on your pics, I would say it is a normal Proof and not a Cameo. Either way, it would have to grade out at MS70, the highest grade to be achieved for any graded coin, to be worth anything. I highly doubt this would be the case based solely on the front (or obverse) of your coin. I too would also suggest placing it back in its case from where it came.
  19. Hey @Lem E.... this Nickel of yours is the Sheot!!! I absolutely love it's beauty and the toning. Absolutely beautiful. I am getting more into Nickels myself. If only I could get away from my Lincoln's (don't tell Coinbuf I said that....) which I highly doubt I will ever do....... I have a love affair with ol' Linc..... Your coin below is awesome! I would have personally graded this at MS71.
  20. Here's my latest 1883 Morgan (a CC). This is #3 out of 4 to round out my very first ever year set (wooohooo , I'm pretty excited (good luck on an S mint though 🙄....). I do need some help/advice on this one please and if I need to post it in the Newbie section please just tell me to do so. You can see there are two decent and noticeable contact marks, one on the nose and one on the chin. I'm just wondering if this would straight grade or not. Your replies and comments are gladly and greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  21. @J P Mashoke I did some digging on this coin for you. I am fairly convinced this is not PMD at this point. There are some factors associated with your coin that simply takes me away from it being damaged after it left the mint. I started thinking that it may have been some type of blanking error, upsetting error, or planchet error or even some type of striking error. I may be way out of line here but I did find this on error-ref.com (link below). I don't think your coin falls into this same exact error category of the supplied reference but possibly something similar. Your coin's grooves do resemble the appearance of the grooves pictured at the bottom of the page so maybe there is a possibility you have an error...... Hopefully we have an error expert here on the forum that has knowledge on uncommon things like this. This is outside of my pay grade and beyond my limit of knowledge on this one...... https://www.error-ref.com/interstrike-damage-page/
  22. I'd go with a scratch there on the edge.
  23. I erased the last comment I made that you quoted.....lol. Here are the areas I am talking about that are odd (circled in green). It's very easy to just write something off as PMD but if you really look at things closely there sometimes comes the question as to "how could this have happened at the mint.... or, did it happen at the mint... or, how was this messed with after it left the mint"? You can see the rim is clearly intact and the grooved damage is within the rim. Not sure how someone could have filed this down without damaging what's left of the rim.
  24. I was thinking PMD for sure but then I got to looking at your pics. Especially your third original pic. The rim is still fully intact and raised above the 'grooved' looking file mark damage at the top and bottom of the pic where the damage is but even so "within" the damaged area, if that makes sense. I'm now thinking this may be something else, possible related to a VERY very minor clipped planchet but not exactly sure. There's no way someone could file this down in this manner yet leave the visible rim intact and free of damage. Very odd and interesting.
