  1. Thanks J P. Yeah, I’m on the fence about this one but it sure looks promising to me. The TPM did cross my mind with the extra metal at the top but I could never be that lucky. These Nickel RPM’s kill me trying to figure them out. I have posted several in the past asking about them but it’s always been a deterioration issue. This one, to me, just doesn’t look like like that issue because it is very “clean” in that area. A Lincoln is much easier for me to see an RPM on than a Nickel for sure.
  2. Did a little research on this one and the only one that remotely resembles this is Wexler's WRPM-003. However, the counterclockwise orientation, location and placement does not appear to match up with Wexler's 003. Fairly minimal flow lines I believe suggest it's not die deterioration doubling. I also don't believe it is MD due to the distinct definition and structure of the MM. I'm also not seeing any other prominent directional MD in this area of the coin which is a bonus. Otherwise, if not an RPM, I think it is a very nice coin for its age. This is just one of the many I got from my "haul" at the antique store several weeks ago. Just curious on your thoughts about this one. Thank you.
  3. I am going to yell here by typing in all caps. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR FORUM FOLKS WINNERS!!!!!!! Major Kudos to you all that have received awards!!!! I love it!!! And @Coinbuf.... that's one of the reasons I love you... EDIT: I mean I admire you .... for loving and collecting Lincolns!!!! My lifelong passion as well. Great job guys!!!
  4. I think this pretty much says it all regardless if it is gossip or speculation Coinbuf.... As I have learned here on this wonderful NGC forum of experts, BUY the COIN..... NOT the STICKER!!!! Just MHO.
  5. One last thing.... If this button wasn't odd enough, without true explanation up to this point (even though I am very appreciative of the info previously supplied!!), the initials atop the reverse are actually the initials of the first names of my wife and I, G and K. Pretty coincidental and very neat I thought. If nothing else, I may just refer to the letter L at the bottom of the reverse as "Love"....... Thanks again to all of you that responded.
  6. Maybe the "G" atop the reverse stands for General...... ha! Wouldn't that be pretty neat. But then again, being a button, there may ultimately be no way of really finding out who this thing belonged to. What gets me is the reeded edge. I have never seen a button of any type with a reeded edge. Very odd to say the least but I will continue to look into this. Thank you very much to all that have responded to my post!
  7. Excellent info there Woods. I am constantly learning of these resources you professionals have here and I will continue to research this item I have. Thank you very much for the link you supplied..
  8. Sorry for just now responding. @Woods020 yes, it does appear to have had something soldered to it at some point in time. I looked at the reverse and the small circle does appear to have had some other type of metal applied to it which would make perfect sense for a loop for a button. Upon further inspection, this thing does have an EVER so slight concave effect to it which makes perfect sense for it to have been a button. My question now is, what do the letters on the reverse mean, or stand for, or possibly who the button was issued to…… Is there any way to look up this information?? If so, I am at a dead end here on my part. Like I said earlier, I came up with nothing especially regarding the initials/letters on the reverse. Thanks!!
  9. Thank you Bill. I appreciate you looking into that for me. I also tried the NGC World Coins site and found nothing that matched the reverse. I just now saw the numerous replies so let me check them out too. Thanks!
  10. I'm currently munching on popcorn and patiently awaiting a pic of this coin Bill.... I think I am falling in love with Nickels these days. Please forgive me @Coinbuf as I will never (I don't think) let another denomination pull me away from my beloved Lincolns and coppers.
  11. Yet another one of my coins (if it even is a coin and not a medal, token or button of some sort) from my antique store purchase a month ago of which I am still sorting through. I have Google Lensed this coin, Google searched the date and markings on it, looked everywhere I could possibly look, and even downloaded a pretty cool app on my phone called "Coinoscope" but all to no avail.. So, here I am here for some guidance from you all to please help me identify exactly what this is. At very first glance using my 10x loupe, while it was still in its flat older style cardboard holder, I almost fell out. The lightly worn golden spots would have fooled anyone into thinking this thing was gold. Unfortunately, after taking it out of its holder that has several other coins in it, it only weighs right at 6.96-6.98 grams so it's definitely not au, darn it. The edge is reeded, just FYI. I have done my best, on my own, to identify this one but I am at a dead-end standstill. Thank you all for your help!!!
  12. Well you do one good job making it look like a Sharpie permanent marker my friend!!! I remember seeing you do this A LONG time ago and my first thought back then was...." What the *&)&%$ is he doing"......It's so convincing that I had to ask!
  13. I figured you did the photo editor thing where you can use "markup" (or something like that) and mark out certain areas in a pic. But hey.... if it is a permanent marker you used..... then BY GOLLIE!!!!!!! No worries at all!!!!! We definitely need to put ol' Slick on our Christmas card list for recommending Goofy stuff that will remove that marker for you!!!!
  14. @J P Mashoke One Question....... how in the world are you ever going to remove the black permanent marker from the certification numbers on the slab????
  15. I heard that, right!!!!! @J P Mashoke seems to have the golden touch finding GREAT deals regularly!!! Kudos to him!!!
  16. Hey Lem E........ You had better watch out my friend!!!!! @J P Mashoke is HOT on your tail for a nice Nickel Set!!!!!
  17. Welcome to the forum first of all. I too am in agreement with the last two comments on this thread from @Just Bob and @Mohawk. Looks like someone had too much time on their hands, had a good vice, a few extra coins, and created a conglomeration of what we are seeing in your pics. No offense at all, just the fact of the matter that this (or these) are not mint errors.
  18. Yes, @Just Bob, I remember this. I think I have found probably 99 of the 100 different finger varieties on those 2009 Lincolns......haha. I do have one of the more recognized ones (can't remember the designated number) that is an absolutely pristine gem I found CRH'ing. I thought about slabbing it because I remember looking up the price when I found it. If I remember correctly, based on the grade I assumed it may get, it would have been very well worth it. Just never got around to it though. Like most things in my life these days..........🙄
  19. Thank you all very much for the congrats, I really appreciate it! After searching through who knows how many coins, and finally finding something worthy of submitting even as minor as it is, it truly is a good feeling. Thanks!!!
  20. That's a pretty good idea J P! Thanks! I wasn't going to actually give the bank my coin..... no way...haha, just allow them to display it until I wanted it back. I thought it might interest some others to maybe get into the hobby. A picture is a great idea though.
  21. Yeah..... there are definitely a lot of DDR's for that year. In all honesty (which I wasn't going to mention) I was convinced this coin was a DDO which would have been a labeled a 001. It's a long story but at least the reverse came through for me.
  22. Thanks Tom. I have been very fortunate and found my fair share of errors and varieties CRH'ing but this is the first of a kind for me having a new attribution.
  23. I will probably send it off to ANACS to have it slabbed as a discovery piece since this is a very first for me. I told my hometown bank about finding it in one of their Nickel rolls and that I had sent it off for attribution. They all thought it was so cool that I found something (as minor as it is....) from their bank. None of them are coin collectors but I think I have a few of the employees wanting to get into collecting since I've found, and shown them, some pretty cool stuff and DD's I've found from their bank rolls. I know them all very well and they know me, very good relationships there. They all know me as the "doubled die dude" or "Triple D".... haha. I thought about putting it in a picture frame after having it slabbed and then having a little plaque engraved explaining what the coin is. I'd enjoy for them to be able to display it on their wall BEHIND the teller counter for obvious reasons. I think that would be pretty cool.
  24. Hey guys and gals, I'm pretty STOKED right now!!! I received confirmation yesterday from Brian Ribar (https://www2.briansvarietycoins.com), Wexler's attributor for Nickels from what I gather based on Wexler's and Brian's respective websites, that a 2020-P Nickel I submitted last month is a legitimate doubled die reverse and the first of its kind. There's more to the story in how this turned out to be a DDR but I'd rather not discuss it.....lol. It is now listed as WDDR-020. I'm just a little bit excited right now, even though it is a minor DDR, but that's totally fine with me. I can't give enough kudos to Brian Ribar for his customer service, timely responses, and utmost attention to my questions I had throughout this process which turned out to be much more streamlined and simple than I had anticipated. This was the first time I have ever submitted a coin for attribution as a first discovery. Thank you for looking!
