  1. @Quintus Arrius you got @RWB all fired up about them Germania coins šŸ¤£ , we all know RWB only loves them boring overrated Morgan dollars of Anna Willess Williams on observe of the coin and the awkward St. Gaudens which was a bad modeling ā€œfigureā€ display on obverse of the coin that canā€™t compare to A.W design of walking liberty half dollar is the probably the ā€œkingā€ of all beautiful US coinage if you really compare beauty in the eyes of the beholder thatā€™s probably the only US coin that is ranked #1 US coin on my list for beauty and craftsmanship (#2 on my list is a Mercury dime) all other US coinage is overrated awkward and ugly as they come Iā€™m just ruffling RWBā€™s feathers šŸ˜‰
  2. Cool find ! Looks in good condition for something you dug up out of the ground definitely a keeper for your personal collection you did a good job doing a delicate cleaning . Iā€™d grade this probably around ā€œupperā€ VF to XF probably worth $50-$60 at most if any collector was to buy it some may even pay a little more $70-$80 to sayā€¦Itā€™s hard to prices these older coins because of the collectorā€™s market and demandsā€¦ I see some online sometimes for sale prices are all over the place doesnā€™t mean that what everyone is willing to pay for a specific coin , If I were you Iā€™d keep it for your own personal collection and good luck with your other finds , I have a guy, I work with that does a lot metal detecting finds all kinds of strange things brings them to work to show me I have no idea what 99% of stuff is , last week he found odd rings that he believes were used on horses to pull plows in fields back in the old days he once found a US civil war belt buckle and dagger that look like it went on gun as well spanish 2 reales KM# 430.2 weight : 6.77g Silver melt value ? $4.55
  3. I would say that looks like carbon spot it doesnā€™t look like PVC damage which is more like a blob or crusty blueish/green to lighter green color on a coin ā€¦ I wouldnā€™t crack that out looks normal to me @J P Mashoke
  4. Ideal temperature range is what your comfortable with in your house even if AC is running store them in like a bedroom closet will do ok , buy yourself plastic bin put all coins inside and throw silica gel packets or even a rechargeable 40gram metal silica gel can for safety measures (you can never use too much silica gel so a lot doesnā€™t hurt) . I keep a lot silica gel canisters in my collection even my slab boxes I put one inside each slab box it takes up a little room youā€™ll lose a few spaces in the slab box ,but it for safety measures (they should make a slab size silica gel canister that slips in the back of slab box for slab collectors)
  5. Coins in that caliber are better off being slabbed and graded with authentication makes much easier to sell makes the buyer comfortable buying as well know it been authenticated , it will also sell for premium more than if it was raw if you want to make the most money off of what you have and if your patience send the coins in have them graded in end youā€™ll make way more money that way having them graded and sold properly You can get good pictures with a basic IPhone about 3-4 feet near a window using natural light . Stack some books up with camera just over the edge about 4ā€-5ā€ above coin use zoom on your phone to get the coin to fill up on your phone screen shoot a picture then crop picture makes the coin look a little bigger save it post pictures on here ā€¦ itā€™s better than magnifying glass thatā€™s you are using
  6. Iā€™m not real good at grading gold nor do I look at a lot of gold . I guess I have to remember gold is softer type of metal shows softer sheen makes it look like weak strike sometimes
  7. @RWB they are silver rounds from a new private mint that opened up a few years back the Germania mint struck for modern collectors , I been collecting them since they first came out on the European market . The proof are hard to find on US market I have get proofs from a dealer in Germany the other regular strikes can be found all over Ebay at wacky prices they are low mintage issues but nothing to write back home about I donā€™t intend sending any in for grading or anything just something different to look at in my collection I seen some graded examples going for crazy prices through bidding wars , itā€™s just dumb ! So easier buy your own and ship it in for grading and save on the cost of someone really wants a graded Germania ā€œsilber rundenā€ šŸ˜‰
  8. Looking in my graded gold coin stash . Forgot I had this little guy took it in on trade while back from another collector .ā€œRestrikeā€ 1945 Mexico 2 Pesos not a real good strike on the reverse of the coin I think it was over graded by a point
  9. Was looking in my gold collection it was that last US coin Iā€™ve bought back in 2017 I been taking break from US coins and working on my world coins since ā€¦ anyways 2016-W gold Mercury dime (I donā€™t like the black core slabs that much they show hairlines on slab to easy, the dealer I got this from must of wiped the slab)
  10. Found in my pocket change West Virginia 2005 with a reverse 4:00 die break and 2020 W Quarter with the privy mark
  11. Agree ! I forgotten about the airtite capsule
  12. Iā€™m not expert on gold coins I would grade the coin out to VF at the most despite all contact marks on obverse of the coin
  13. Iā€™d say that quarter grades out XF at the most only worth silver the pictures are a little blurry it isnā€™t mint state condition it looks circulated
  14. Came across another mint looking old school NGC fatty slab with perfect hologram! 1918D German 1/2 Mark . This coin also show pretty cool die polish lines on the reverse of the coin
  15. @Quintus Arrius be careful with that rooster ā€¦ we gotta start nicknaming you ā€œRoosterā€ thereā€™s even an Alice in chain song ā€œRoosterā€ fits you perfectly for your love of roosters ! šŸ‘
  16. Ouch ! So dark and painful that statement šŸ¤£
  17. Thatā€™s what environmental damage looks like after while starts to getting a crusty corrosion eats away at the coin surface , and a dipped coin left to long in a dipping solution comes out looking like whole surface been lightly sand blasted
  18. I do want get a better camera setup for taking some serious pictures of coin , I have been thinking about opening up an online coin business selling some of the personal coins I have in my collection . An IPhone is great tool it takes decent pictures but a better camera will make a world of difference . @Coinbuf shared a few articles with me other day about coin photography and lighting was a really good educational read thatā€™s worth any coin collectors grain of salt to take some serious pictures of coins
  19. That coin reminds me of a coin that been left in coin dipping solution too long etches the coin have that weird texture look to it almost like environmental damaged coin
  20. A coin collector friend sent me this since I bidding on French live coin auctions for last few weeks I always get an email written in French when I win a coin. Too funny not to share
