No idea....and I don't think you need to be THAT rich to collect error coins.

Your coin is fake.  In fact, your coin is a well documented fake that is in the link that @RWB provided (above).  This is clearly the "vampire" counterfeit.
I know I am stating the obvious, but you are are better off buying these coins previously authenticated by one of the two top TPGs (NGC or PCGS).  Whatever money you think you save in "making the coin", you will waste (10x) buying bad/fake/damaged/cleaned coins.
    Sorry for your loss.

Alex in PA. got a reaction from GoldFinger1969 in The Wells Fargo Hoard .. How did this happen?
Well, here is my 'theory' or W.A.G. as one might call it.  1.  No one living today knows exactly who owned this 'Hoard' or where this amount of coins came from.  I believe, in nother source, RWB mentioned Europe.  2.  Now, no one living today can tell us the 'exact' distribution of the Merkers Mine Hoard of NAZI loot.  The are records 'missing', lost, destroyed, etc. with a closing statement that after some was returned to Allied coutries the 'remainder' was dispersed to 'Displaced Persons'.  Sure it was bcause someone entered that statement into the record.

Yep. The only "conflict" is when I look in the mirror in the morning and wonder who that old fart is looking back.

We been working near Bowling Green and actually staying right in Bowling Green. I looked online and saw they had a few shops. Was wondering if there is anyone on here familiar with the area? Seems like I seen someone on here before from this area. I been thinking about stopping and checking a few out one day if I can get off early enough. This seems like a large town. Alot going on here.

Alex in PA. reacted to GBrad in Thought I'd share a pretty neat 1979 Jefferson I found CRH'ing
I was going through a random bank roll of Nickels a few months ago when this guy showed up.  I had never quite seen anything like this, but I was very confident it was not PSD/PMD, die deterioration doubling or anything else that could have happened to this coin after is was struck (or so I hoped).
I posted it on another coin forum that I had recently joined (my first post there and not ATS just FYI) and all I pretty much got in response was the aforementioned.  I won't go into the specifics, primarily because I did not ask, as to why commenting was turned off on my post there on this other forum only after about a day later.
I then had a gentleman by the name of Mike Diamond, some of you may know him , create his own post on that forum in the attempt to find me since my original post had been shut down and he obviously could not comment.  He respectfully requested to see my coin in hand for further examination. Of course, I sent it off to him.

Mike found it worthy enough and did a write-up in the 'Collector's Clearinghouse' section of Coin World, May 16th edition. I've never had anything like this happen in my coin collecting days so this was completely new to me.  I was humbled (still am) and very honored to say the least that he reached out to me.  I am truly grateful for that.
Here's a few pics of my "odd" Jefferson:

Kurt nailed it....the stock market has been tanking, rates rising, inflation soaring -- and Bitcoin and cryptos, The Great Saviors, are down 30% in a few weeks.

I do not stack metals, at least not the precious type, I stack ammo and guns.    If the world goes so far off the rails that the US dollar is worthless all that silver will be too, it won't do much to stop a bullet.

Roger is correct.  The 'State' of Louisiana and it never changed throughout it's history.  As our friend @Hoghead515said this would make an interesting discussion.

...u need to be careful there my friend, i dont want too many things rattling around in ur head at the same time u need save some thought on being able to blowing out all those bday candles on Sunday....but the 1861-0 liberty seated half does make for interesting discussions n collecting opportunities...minted under 3 different minting authorities; USA, State of LA, CSA...only minted for approx 4 months, 15 known die pairings...lends itself for a mini-collection all by itself...while those coins issued under the CSA garner most of the attention, those issued under the USA r far scarcer...and to further compound the collecting arena there r the 1861-0 coins discovered in the salvage of the SS Republic shipwreck....enuf to make a grown man's head truly rattle....

Maybe more of "A History of the Mints of the United States". I do like how FMTM stays more focused on the mints themselves and not the surrounding events, but a book that combines them could be fantastic... I like the idea Hoghead!

No, it was called the "State of Louisiana." (No one had invented "Peoples' Socialist Republic of Louisiana" or "Slave Owners' Socialist Republic".)

I’m not aware of tell tale markers on a 26-s like the keys. Never heard of a counterfeit one. But it makes sense if you are a counterfeiter to find a better date worth your time but with less scrutiny potentially.

That S does look wrong by the way as everyone has said.

The location does not seem to match other S mintmarks. Irregularities suggest possible alteration of a D to an S, but higher resolution images are necessary for a clearer determination.

I have two 1861 O Half Dollars, graded by NGC, one is 'Louisiana Issue' the other is 'Confederate States Issue'.  Very interesting; was Louisiana considered it's own 'Territory'?

I can only suspect, with common sense as my backup, that when you get into the category that this FB Mercury (The upper bands are iffy but I think there is still enough separation IMHO) would potentially fall into, TPG's really have to scrutinize every minute detail.  The inside top of the S mm looks like it has been pushed slightly sideways and created an unnatural angle of sorts. I don't know, it's just what I can see after copying the pooh and then zooming in. Not sure how that would happen on an otherwise fairly flawless coin. That would be one incredibly unlucky "hit" right there inside the mm if that is the case.  I agree with Alex about maybe getting a second opinion.
