What a cool find. About 40 years ago, I found a 1919 dime in the garden. That's the highlight of my buried treasure finds. Usually it's a rock.

Climate change and projections of impacts are based on real data and reliable thermodynamic calculations. The climactic "cycles" are defined by sets of data points covering a very long time span - at least in human terms. The 26,000 year "wobble" in earth's rotation has little effect because the rotational tilt remains the same. Real changes can be correlated with the earth's orbit; however, all of these are on time scales much longer than those currently being observed. Further, there are direct statistical and anecdotal correlations between use of fossil fuels and both mean temperature increases and effects of weather pattern changes.
For any closed system there is a tipping point beyond which it loses the ability to self-regulate: it becomes a "runaway" system that stabilizes only at some undetermined, and entirely new set of conditions.
Public confusion arises not from the observed changes, but from an ignorantly-politicized dispute about why the sudden changes (150 years is incredibly "sudden" in climatology). Frozen dogma is useless in attacking and moderating the observed changes. The human population of earth is the only entity with the capability of remediating mean temperature increases. It is not certain what will happen if we act. If we do not act the math is clear and the impacts on all life on earth will be significant.
For those who point to events like the cold outbreak in the central and southern US and say "So how can this be global warming?" the response is that this is exactly the kind of effect expected from an increasingly chaotic weather system. Greater variability, greater intensive, unanticipated departure from historic and prehistoric patterns, all are predicted on large scales but are not understood (yet) on the small scale of local regions.
For coin collectors, the takeaway is: don't put coins in a bank box in a 1,000 year flood plain.
I totally agree. Climate change is real and a huge concern.

I would never attempt to remove them , I know better . What I'm wondering is will the spots affect the grade? Sorry if I didn't frame the question properly .
Do white spots affect the NGC grade?
NGC will factor white spots into its grading of modern silver coins just as it does for black spots on copper coins and red spots on gold coins. Larger and more distracting spots will result in lower grades. Heavily spotted coins may receive an NGC Details Grade with an Environmental Damage notation.
The development of white spots after a coin is graded by NGC is not covered under the NGC Guarantee because these white spots occur unpredictably and through no fault of NGC’s. If an NGC-certified modern silver coin develops white spots, NGC will leave it in its original holder or reholder it with the original grade. Here's the full article:

I always enjoyed reading the posts he used to make here. I don't read posts on CT.

I see @cpm9ball (Chris) hasn't posted here in 5 years. I wonder why?

Tooling marks are specific to the die that struck a coin, making them important tell-tale features of counterfeit coins. Knowledge of die diagnostics is usually acquired by examining countless coins over a period of many years, but specialized references that illustrate tooling marks on counterfeit coins do exist.

Looking forward to seeing some pics of these coins.

Curiously, what was the cost of the NGC membership?
20 USD
$25 is the minimum. Although, I would choose the premium account for $149, since you get it all back in credit.

It's still happening to me as well. Ironically, when there is significant lag here, it happens on the comic forum, too. It's the same format as this site.

How does the concomitant disinformation on the SMS Kennedies factor in? Totally serious.
Well, I see it as annoying. His last thread stated "I may have"

I have to ask this only PARTIALLY rhetorically: Who does more of a disservice to the “community”, Modwriter or Ratzie33?
Well, one's behavior is totally unacceptable, and the other is slightly annoying. I'll choose multiple pics of the same coins over rude and insulting posts any day.

I think Mod drinks a little. I don’t drink any more, but then again, I might not drink any less, either.
He is ruining the coin forum, insulting people in multiple threads.

Nice job blocking me. What a joke. How can you see my posts? You are a joke. I am also a menace to society. NEVER EVER CLEAN A COIN NEWBIES. TPGS WILL CHARGE YOU THE GRADING FEE THEN CHARGE YOU FOR THE RETURN POSTAGE. COIN CLEANING THREADS SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED. @DWLange

I'll choose 1913 D

Has any key date coins seen a significant rise in price lately?
in US, World, and Ancient Coins
Posted
I ask because many other collectibles have skyrocketed in price during the last 3 months. Many key comics that were worth 5 to 10K 3 months ago are now worth 10 to 20K or more now. The same has been happening with many other collectibles. How is the coin market these days? Any substantial gain in value for the more desirable coins?
