Now THAT, right THERE, should be your official NGC forum motto.
Nope, I simply don't care.

Note: While I sympathize with the plight of your friend, posting a solicitation for money on an essentially personal, non-numismatic matter, is not in accordance with the Board Guidelines.
There are members in good standing here who have suffered cataclysmic losses due to Acts of God, including flooding and wind damage and not a few who have endured financial ruin, irreversible health problems, some brought on by advanced age.
This is a Forum devoted to Numismatics running the gamut of coin collection and contributing, incrementally, to increasing the body of knowledge.
D.W. Lange, as you may have heard, has similarly been laid low by cancer. A stalwart, NGC mainstay, he is deserving of every consideration if only the membership knew what to do beyond PMg him with assurances he remains in our thoughts. You understand.
Who the heck do you think you are? Did someone make you a moderator or something? If not, just move along.

Yeah, that sucks. Alot.
I've known Michelle since we were kids. This girl is like a sister to me. I love her more than my actual sister.
Anyways, she moved in while I was in Israel, in September. In early October, she invited me out to the back porch and told me that she was diagnosed with Stage 1 Cancer. They caught it early, it hasn't spread, it's localized... all "good" news.
She is having Surgery on December 2, and hopefully everything will all be ok after that. It's supposed to be a relatively easy process.
Michelle loves flowers. They bring her joy. They brighten her day. They will help her recovery. Please help me fill her room with so many flowers! I've created a GoFundMe, and I would really very much appreciate your help. Thank you.
https://gofund.me/fcdf9e49I lost my 16 year old nephew to cancer. Donated 1, because cancer sucks. And 2, out of spite to QA.

How do you even figure out how many "followers" you have ?
I have no idea

You too, Mr. Even Fewer Followers.
I also wonder which is more. You're "followers", or the number of people who have you on ignore, or the number of people who have joined and left because of your braggadocio and holier than thou persona. Maybe I will just have to ask management, as you often suggest.

Have at it Mr. 20+ years member with 4 followers.
It's a sad man who places the value of his worth on the number of followers he has.

It's too large to post them all, but I have the complete set of Somalia elephants, going back to the original Zambia coins the first 5 years, 1999-2004. The collection includes all the privys for the WMF, the ANA, and the lunar privys, and the 2010 reverse of 2009.
I don't collect it for any numismatic value, the wife just likes elephants. Although a few of the early Zambia ones are worth quite a bit.

Well, I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last weekend.

That's simply because most of them are about 75 years old.

Could be there are not enough coins of that type graded.

If it's for collecting, choose a coin that is well known. If it is for investing, do not buy a coin, or gold, or silver. I mean, gold was selling for $1668 an ounce in 2012. Today, it is selling for....$1650 an ounce.

It's hard to predict how long a coin will sit on a buy it now listing on ebay.
A 7-day auction could be a good way to go. But you never know what the outcome is going to be. You'd probably want to set a reserve so someone doesn't get too much of a "steal" on them. Only problem there is you could end up with nothing after a 7 day wait if the reserve isn't met.
Be careful setting reserves. You pay a fee for that based on the reserve price you set. Much better off setting the starting bid at a price you are comfortable selling at, and hope a few people really want the coin.

Thank you! I appreciate the warm welcome. [When I informed my sister what had transpired her reaction was not unlike that of Jimmy Conway's (Robert DeNiro) after Henry Hill (the late Ray Liotta) shot Spyder: "What's this world coming to?"
That's why I love NGC. I will see how things go, and if the coast is clear, I will renew my membership at the prevailing standard non-discounted rate on June 1st.] 😉
Ah, but it was Tommy DeVito (Joe Pesci) who shot Spider. Both times.

P.P.S. Gentlemen, the formal reason given for my dismissal was "contentiousness." A review was conducted and a spokesman speaking on behalf of a consortium of [acronyms] granted me a reprieve which can be countermanded, per Guideline rules, for any reason or no reason at all. I believe a handful of members enjoy unconditional immunity. I do not. 🐓
Glad to see you back.

Easiest thing you can do is the ice test. Silver melts ice much faster than it has any right to. Get an ice cube, and press the edge of the coin into the ice cube. It will melt the ice and go through the cube pretty easily if it is indeed silver.
