  1. The condor tokens are a very interesting group of medals I have over the years read about them in several different coin forums and seen many pictures of them as well ....I like them and since I have a fondness for copper I have considered collecting them myself. Right now I'm looking to form a new collection other then my Icelandic coins. I have decided on northern European coins.... nothing new  since I'm not big on modern stuff ...the more detail a coin has the more I like them.

To be MS70 I think they have to be "perfect" under 5x magnification.

Many of these coins are made of cery soft metal that's easily damaged.

    This leaves a few possibilities:

    1) It is as you say

    2) There was a small nick or flaw on the coin that the first company missed

    3) Somehow a small flaw was introduced between one company grading and another company grading - maybe even during the first encapsulation process itself. If you crack it out yourself and send it in for regrading then there's even more chances for a coin to get nicked.

I agree with the all above possibilities.....plus I have read that each company has different standards which can influence the grade of a coin in either MS or PF.... I have coins in my collection,,,, both world and U.S.  that is truly over graded and under graded  ..As the old saying goes buy the coin and not the holder. And as to one of your questions above submitting slabbed coins to the other grading TPG services will pretty much look for a reason to stick it to the other TPG .....IMHO.....Its just good business.

  3. I just finished listening your podcast and found it very informative and very interesting. You did a great job.... if that was me I would have been tripping over my own words and not to mention freezing up at every question I was asked.    Your a natural at this......Congratulation  :applause::applause::applause:

Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

The sad truth of it though is that, shortly after it was issued, the $100 Trillion note was worth about US$2 and could barely buy a loaf of bread.

If you took one example of each pick number from P-1 to P-98, added them all up and expressed it in "first dollars" (only way to really add them up honestly), it would be $8,660,868,616,816,540,892,867,454,882.00. If you just naively added up the face values it would still be $180,267,755,317,238.00.

…. and that is how I determined that the current version of MS Excel only stores up to 15 significant digits in memory.

Just  think ....If you took the 10 richest people in the world and converted all there money to the Zimbabwe dollars you would need a 747-8 ..the biggest ever ....To move all that money from one place to the other.....:o:o:o

Say, now that is a mighty fine coin and RD to boot! At the price you paid when in comparison to the asking price for the ANACS you could almost call the PCGS coin a steal! Congratulations on the find and a new addition to what is already a mighty fine collection. Gary.

Wow. That's pretty! And not at all bad of a price for a nearly 80 year old coin.

  6. That is a very interesting clash....I wonder if there are many out there for this type coin

Clash dies have been a interest of mine since finding a bunch of them in the Icelandic coins I have. It appears to be a common accurance among world coins ...I have never seen a U.S. coin with clash marks ...I guess we are much better in the coin making department

Keep it as a hobby is my advice-- between buyers costs, sellers fees, paypal, shipping and the dollar's decline in value.. there are far better investments than collector grade coins. Sorry to be a negative nelly--I'm happy as a collector and will continue to do so, but I don't lie to myself and think that my collections are going to rocket up in value and be a nest egg for my retirement or progeny.

I couldn't agree more with what you said. My collection of Icelandic coins will never go up very much...If I'm really lucky maybe 1% to 3% a year at best ..( if I'm real lucky ) . I see my collection as a mission ...A mission to build the best set possible at almost any cost . I have spent over the years far more on grading as well as NCS conservation on any coin I feel that it will help with the appearance of the coin even if the coin is only worth maybe $40 bucks I will never get back what I have spent over the years....But that doesn't matter to me ..

  8. What you have said in your above journal I can really relate too. I myself have found me in many situations of having the lack of funds to buy some of the coins that has come up for auction in the past. I have also noticed the increase of slabbed coins in the European market as well... I guess the trend of having a third party graded coin in a slab has grown in both popularity and necessity to in sure that the coin you are buying is genuine and problem free.

I have found a few new varieties for the Icelandic coins from 1922 to 1942 and post one of my finding in the Cointalk forum a few years back with pictures and to my amazement the seigs catalog used my pictures in there book to show a variety that I found. I have thought of contacting them about this.....maybe they will send me a free catalog or just tell me to bugger-off....What do you think.

Well just hang in there ...All good things come to those who never give up

So do you like having multiples / duplicates for series like this that are favorites of yours or had you picked up several over time in the search for one worth grading and now you'll sell the others?

Well its pretty much both ....ones I like as well as trying to upgrade to a better coin in the series. I have like three 1925 2 Kronur in ms-62, 63 and 64.... I have two 29 2K in 65 and 66 I have four 1925 1 Krona in MS 62,63,64,65.. I have like four 1929 1 Krona in MS as well... Yes many duplicates.... Beside from collecting I'm  hoping to put together a little book about Icelandic coins from this time period and I have found a few new varieties as well as a few die state with the numbers in the date being re-punched twice as the dies was being used. The Copenhagen mint used dies with the last two digits of the date missing and when it came time to use these dies they would us a number punch to add the date to the die and that is why you will see such difference in the dates for those years. Well I may sell some of them in the future..... Maybe... Not sure  But I'm aways open to a good offer.

How to see the pictures ?  I clicked through to your name but I believe that was limited to this journal.  Vikings?  Thanks

I have never added a link to the journals before hope it works.

I'm not sure if I was doing this right so I'm just going to tell you to go to the registry for coins then world sets then Iceland then complete Kingdom era 1922 to 1942 . Mine is the Robertsson collection.

Sounds like the set was complete a while ago and some things just needed to be graded. Congrats and the grades and on the fact that they're now a complete NGC-graded set. :)

Thank you....    I just got the 42 ...10 and 25 Aurar about two months ago but I had others but these was the best ones out of the lot.
