  1. Tough to say, I guess we will find out next year.
  2. No FUN for me, too far and I hate FL anyway, I hope that Long Beach will be a go next year and If I remember correctly there is supposed to be a show here in AZ in March.
  3. Funny that this got pulled form the archives, just today someone ATS called that forum sleepy hollow.
  4. As a comparison here is one from my first submission almost a year ago, notice how the NGC photo looks dull and blah. The other photo was done by Mark Goodman, same coin night and day difference.
  5. Thanks all, the 1878 is a VAM14-2, the 1885 is a VAM 7 dash under the second 8 (not a VAM that NGC will attribute) and the Lincoln is a D/D/D variety. I was hoping for a 65 on the 1885 otherwise they all graded as expected. That was my biggest issue with the photos that NGC did on the first submission, all the coins looked dull and flat/lifeless no luster at all. This group of photos does a much better job of capturing the in hand look. As to TV's I've never used the service, I submit maybe six or seven coins in a two year timeframe on average and very seldom to PCGS as I find their grading to be flawed due to their love for luster and disregard of marks. But when I look at most TV's posted ATS I think those shots are glamor shots, very seldom do the TV's give you a good sense of the in hand look imo and have in some cases seen where the photos have masked or hidden some marks and flaws. Maybe that is a good thing if you own the coin but I find I cannot rely on a TV when evaluating a buy/pass decision on PCGS coins.
  6. At the end of last year I sent in a small submission of coins and opted for the photo vision service rather than sending to Mark Goodman as I would usually do. In part to see if the service was a good value as I had never used it before and partly for the sake of expediency. Here is the thread where I originally asked and then posted the photos done by NGC on the second page of the thread. Photo vision photos Since then I sent in a second group for grading during the covid special that NGC offered and while I was not in love with the first set of photos that NGC did I again opted for the service on this second submission. I must say that I'm much happier with the photos that were done on this second submission than on the first. This group captures the in hand look so much better than the first group, due to file size restrictions I will have to add each photo as a separate reply.
  7. Might be kinda cool looking, many years ago I bought a gold coin form the Canadian mint that had a prismatic hologram on it. I'm not much for colorized coins in general but this was somewhat unique and I do enjoy viewing that coin when I stop by the bank box.
  8. It looks like a hit but the closeup is a bit out of focus so difficult to say for sure.
  9. Those are actually cool bits, I can remember seeing lots of those at shows many years ago too. I don't have a pocket piece myself, I hate to jingle when I walk.
  10. I stopped buying from the mint several years ago due to the high prices, prices now are nuts.
  11. Worth $.05 cents, spend it, as you can see the coin is in a bezel and was part of a jewelry charm or necklace.
  12. I replied to your post on this in the for sale section.
  13. Its impossible to give advice on a coin like that without seeing it in hand, even giving advice from photos would be iffy but better than no photos as of now . Yes you will lose the sticker the way NGC does a regrade is the coin is cracked and regraded raw, you are guaranteed not to drop a grade but the coin will come back in a new slab with a new cert number. If it upgrades you would have to resubmit to CAC for a new review and see if they still like it at the new higher grade. If the coin stays the same grade you would still have to sent to CAC with the old cert for a new sticker which costs $3 plus the shipping both ways.
  14. I think right now there are two or three tops that can afford such a coin, but as you noted none were interested in stepping up. In fact its been discussed many times that Hanson has a history of paying huge money for some coins but not for the extremely rare and uber expensive coins.
  15. Yes NGC does accept PCGS coins into the US coin registry, you going for a MAGA set?
  16. Well we could discuss many of the other coins that did very poorly in the auction. Bruce has posted ATS that he is very happy to hold onto these two and the 1795 gold coin as a box of three going forward. I would guess that it will take a private treaty to move these coin going forward.
  17. Looks like I was wrong about the health of the top end market, perhaps some hesitation due to market and political considerations??
