  1. Thank you @Hoghead515 I'm very glad that you enjoyed viewing my set; Lincolns have been and remain a lifelong passion of mine. I hope someday that will see your name on the list for your impressive set of Washington quarters.
  2. The answer will depend on who you ask, in my opinion that sticker is worthless, not even worth the price of the material to print the sticker. There may be some that will attach some value to it.
  3. Lol you were on the money with your premonition for sure. Like you wrote about your winning set I felt like I would need to do more still to have the set be ready to compete for a big award so it came as a total surprise. I'm still on cloud nine but now even more determined to work on this set to improve the overall look of the set as well as improve the photos and descriptions in the coming years. @Electric Peak Wow that is an impressive seated half dime set some truly amazing coins you have in that set. And I am also very impressed with your images, sets that have good quality images really make the sets come alive and a joy to view. I just want to extend a big thank you to all for your congratulations and wonderful words. I have always said that the registry is about the comradery it inspires and promotes between collectors and your kind words are so very greatly appreciated.
  4. Way to go @Lem E, I was very shocked but ecstatic to see my name listed among this year's winners. Also a hearty congrats to @Revenant for his honor this year. And a big shout out to NGC for hosting the best registry !!
  5. Congrats to everyone that won this year!! And a special thanks to NGC for hosting the registry, already looking forward to what 2022 brings in the way of changes and improvements to what is already the best registry platform.
  6. I would not say for certain from these photos but I also suspect that the op's coin may have been polished.
  7. Ok instalment 3 of 12, I have already posted this coin once or twice but just for the sake of completeness I'll add a journal entry for this one too. I am a long time dedicated Lincoln collector and love the coin/series partly as I like the original wheatie design, but mostly for the historical significance of President Lincoln. I own many books written about him and enjoy learning about him, visiting the Ford theater the first time I went to DC was a real thrill for me. While most of my collection is focused on high grade registry quality red and red/brown coins I do enjoy rich lustrous brown coins like this. In some ways the details of the design are almost even more highlighted on coins like this vs full red examples. As many of you may know there has been much discussion in the collecting world dedicated to the blue toned Lincolns and IHC's, much of that discussion about the origins and originality of the blue color. While I know that blue on copper coins can be created it is my belief that it can happen naturally also, and in my opinion this is one of those original coins.
  8. Not an error of any kind, stained and damaged is all.
  9. If my memory is correct the coins were struck at Philly and Denver then packaged and mailed from SF. But I might not be remembering that correctly.
  10. I see nothing wrong with what you setup, I might have chosen a different category like Series Sets or Thematic & Topical Coins. But that is just a personal choice on my part, I hope that you will add some photos in the future. Its hard to appreciate any set be it custom or competitive if you cannot see the coins in the set.
  11. I am curious to see hos this series goes, when I saw the first five above I only knew three of the women and had to look up the other two. I would bet that many to most of the younger generations will have no idea of who any of those women are. So I have to wonder, will this be a success and get people to at least do a google search when each design is released. Or will most just say who the heck is this and go on with their day.
  12. I have no interest in this myself, just not the kind of thing I care to collect. So while I voted no if I come across a really nice one in change I will likely throw it into a 2X2, no chance I'll collect the series or spend money to buy a graded one.
  13. Looks like NGC has canceled the registry cocktail hour, on-site grading, and a couple of other events. Seems that FUN is getting less fun everyday.
  14. This is correct 2 million for each W design, nine designs is a total of 18 million minted and released.
  15. Almost like someone wanted to make a reverse proof like look to a circulation coin, perhaps a test piece that was used to perfect the craft to deceive a buyer.
  16. No need to retool, all my vending machines (I own over 60) all will accept SBA, Sacs, and the newer pres dollars. While I do not see them use with great frequency I do see them. The real issue for vending operators like myself is they suck to dispose of as banks like BofA dislike and discourage receiving change anymore.
  17. Very nice over the past two weeks I found two W quarters and a really nice borderline MS 1971 quarter. Both the W quarters are rough low AU examples, and I agree with you that these are not easy to find now. I have to think that the roll search guys plucked most out already and I'm sure that most found now will be lower quality; still a fun find no matter the grade.
  18. What @Mohawk said, not an S just damage of some type is all I can make out from the photo.
  19. The only hope that can help that coin is that gold goes way up so you will no longer be buried in it. That is a problem coin, and it always will be.
  20. Easy answer for me, quality early half and large cents can be few and far between while the dime will come around again likely sooner than later. But I can see where it would be easy to get pulled in both directions.
  21. Nice find, errors like this do have a value but the condition of your coin limits that to maybe $10 at the most. The real issue is finding buyers, most collectors that like and collect this stuff would rather find it themselves (as you did) than pay for them. But it costs nothing to list it on ebay, throw it up with a $15 BIN and see if you get any action or offers.
