They mean something to the guys who own the company, but not to the coin collecting public. Designating coins as "90 percent Full Bands," "4 Full Steps," and other such nonsense is just a way to take money from unknowing buyers.

Your first though was correct. It is not the real deal.

Apparently, being sick hasn't slowed down your typing. I was using voice to text, and you still beat me.

That is not a BB-256. It is also not a real dollar.
I am amazed that you would think that members of a coin chat board would be ignorant about coins.

    Welcome to the forum.
I am not entirely sure what I am looking at in the first two pictures, because they are not very clear. I don't really understand what the Kennedy struck on the nickel planchet has to do with the rest of the post either. (Edited to add: That picture has since been removed by the OP.) I do know, however, that the last two Kennedy half pictures are of a damaged coin that was created outside the mint.

At one time, NGC listed 100 different Formative Years Lincolns with doubling of the left thumb and fingers on the reverse. They have reduced the list to 8. Variety Vista still lists 76.

I thought the same thing. Looks like Doubled Dies are actually more likely to occur now than they were with the multiple squeeze method. I wonder if they will redesign the press to try to eliminate the chatter in the hub/die, or if that is even possible.

If I were in your shoes, before I spent the money for membership, grading fees, shipping and insurance, etc., I would take it to a knowledgeable dealer, or even several dealers, and get a professional opinion.

There were no Special Mint Sets issued in 1964. Some coins have turned up that look different from regular coins, and these have been called Specimen or SMS coins. The fact is, though that there is no documentation to support the claims that these coins were struck in any way that differs from normal coins. Several theories as to how or why they were made and/or saved have been put forth, but, as I stated earlier, no documentation from the mint has yet been found that supports one position over another.
This subject has been rather contentious on this chat board. If you search "64 SMS" in earlier threads, you will see what I mean.
