It works!!!!!
Thanks for getting this service back. Thanks to the Cistomer Sevice people for giving me grades over the phone while this service was out.
I am new to the Collector's Society, and recently submitted some coins for grading. That was weeks ago, and like most of you I have been unable to obtain any information due to this server problem. What is really being done about this?
I just switched back over from PCGS and am not happy about this server business.
I work for a software company and it appears that whomever is overseeing this upgrade has not tested before "go live". When you are dealing with other people's money, it is usually a good idea to test before applying an upgrade. I have a difficult time believing that NGC doesn't have sufficient resources to obtain a test server.
Why can't they give us any more specifics on the issue? I certainly hope
I am very anxious about the status of the server or the complete backbone system of NGC. For me it is unacceptable that the company has no planned (as we alla can see now) how the upgrade would be made and in what time space.
I know that all major upgrades take place to an alternative, backup server which show all the difficulties at the very first. Then the normal upgrade will be smooth as all problems have been already addressed and the procedure is stable and fast.
I don't know anyt
Total Inattention to Detail at NGC
After 33 WORKING days, which translates to 42 days in real time, I finally emailed NGC yesterday for some kind of time estimate. They emailed back and said I needed to call someone named Jeff. He informed me that my coins were ready 3 weeks ago but my credit card was being declined and they couldn't get in touch with me. Funny, I've been in touch with many of you via email and had no problem. NGC has the same email address, plus my cell phone number. I don't
Maybe the technicians work for PCGS?
I switched over to NGC from PCGS because of the expense and because I think PCGS is overly conservative on their grading. Little did I know that submitting my registration (by credit card over the web) would take 4 weeks to process. And now, waiting for a server to be functional ? maybe I got what I paid for. Unless they are stellar after this problem is finished ? this is my first and last year here.
Cheaper is cheaper ? guess I got what I paid fo
Get it well soon or get someone that can.
We may need to remind the architecht that this is beginning to be more than a temporary inconvenience, seeing as how we have been given two previous targeted get well dates and this problem is now over a week old. Sounds like you need some new technical experts with a system that works. These problems should have been planned and fixed before the conversion. Sounds to me like the cart was ahead of the horse.
Shame on the webmaster
For several years I was the manager of Internet operations for a company that sells recreational vehicle parts and supplies over the Internet. I can tell you that if that sight was down for more than 10 minutes I would have fired my webmaster and I probably would have been fired also.
Has anyone noticed that the only part of the sight that is down is one that offers customer service but doesn't bring in any money. The money-making part of the website is working fine
DOES ANYONE KNOW ABOUT THE 1999 DELAWARE QUARTER THAT WAS STRUCK ON EXPERIMENTAL PLANCHETS. IF SO PLEASE EMAIL ME AT NIZAMEL02@AOL.COM . I AM 95% SURE THAT I HAVE ONE MINTED IN DENVER.

A Proof Franklin 15 coin set is WAY overdue and a no brainer.
Two very distinct types of Proof Franklin half dollars were minted in 1956. The old die variety served well from 1950 to about 3 months into 1956. At that point, the mint refined the reverse die to a distinct and easily noticeable fuller detail, especially in the eagle's tail feathers. As a result, full cameo, higher grading 1956 Type 2 Franklins are common. The cameo'd versions of the T2 display the most striking eye appeal of any
Is it possible it reversed carbon spot?
I had obtained a High Relief Saint around 2 1/2 Years ago. When I received it I could've sworn there was a carbon spot on the knee. I confirmed it when I dug up the initial photo's I had taken of it. During the last 2 1/2 years this coin was kept in an Intercept Shield Double Row slab storage box at my bank safety deposit box. I recently pulled it out and lo and behold, no carbon spot on the knee! Is it possible the chemical within the intercept shi
Are they worth more or just more interesting?
Since I've started collecting, I found that pedigree coins are interesting. I started with the Binion Collection in morgan and peace dollars, and now also have two Walking Liberty's in this pedigree. Then I found The Richmond Collection, The Continental Bank Hoard and The Fitzgerald Collection in dollars, and The Pittman Collection in Walking Liberty. I don't know how many collections there are, but it makes it more fun. The one problem is not
Get out your copy and paste, because these are the web pages you want to read - from cameras and scanners to lighting and lenses.
I saw someone else ask about photographing coins in a collectors' journal entry, but rather than answer directly, I thought it might be nice to put up an answer for everyone to peruse.
This question is a really common one that I've seen come up many times on the NGC chat boards, and while I'm no expert myself... I know a few people who are. Copy the web addresses
Need help in getting your digital camera to properly photograph certified coins? I certainly do!
I have tried many different combinations of setup and have yet to find a reliable combination of light(s) and/or lenses to get a decent photo. The plastic case reflects too much light and the coins always come out too dark or have really bad contrast. I also have a lot of trouble with color balance and field-of-view because the coins are sunken inside the white NGC insert.
I am using a Cano
How can we get as close to FMV for the coins we want to sell?
Anyone have any insights into how to sell desirable coins to other collectors without taking as large a hit to value as the dealers often want to pay?
1869 5c in PR67 Cameo???
Copy and paste in your web address(URL)the following: http://www.anrcoins.com/lotdetail.aspx?lrid=AN00023204
I think this may be the world's only other 1869 nickel in PR67 Cameo. What do you think? Cameos are tricky because the fields must possess mirrors along with the full frosted 5 on the reverse. If there is any inconsistancy in frost on the five, the coin is just PR. -JC
Sluggo - Good job on you 1878/9 5C in PR68 (ANR auction), I bid against you on
What do you do with a coin covered with fingerprints?
When I first started collecting coins about 6 years ago I bought some $50 gold Anerican Eagles. Several of them have a thumbprint on them and one is darker than the others, less glossy and is covered with fingerprints. Should I get these slabbed and what do I have to disclose about the fingerprints when I go to sell them at auction? Is there a proper way to remove the fingerprints? I've always read that you never clean a coin. Is that
Now I'm really wondering...a whole new catagory or a new set?
The mint has announced that starting this year all the mint sets will have a new finish for the contents....and going forward also. So will this mean we will have two catagorys of UNC Sac's etc. A MS-67 in normal Uncirculated, and a MS-6? in Sateen finish? Oh boy
