All Sets Now Ranked in Top 100 Updated 3/03/06

Still have a few coins to be graded and then added! Just added 18 more coins from the Long Beach Auction. Some very hard to find in any grade coins. Looking Good!I have bought and sold coins for years, but just got hooked on collecting graded coins over the last three years. My wife doesn't like it but I'm not doing it for her. Puzzled by NumisMedia Total in NGC Registry Set.

Check Your Values!! I wonder why the total value shown in my <a href="http://Morg">Morg</a>an Dollar Set (NGC Registry) is incorrect? If you add all the values for each coin that total is much higher than the amount shown as the "NumisMedia Totals" figure. The actual total is 14% higher than the total shown.

BUY 'em up qwik ! There really is no reason for the huge price difference between PCGS and NGC coins. Personally I think NGC is better (else I should be in the "other" registry, which I am not). NGC doesn't seem to base thier grading on the number of coins that a person or company submits, nor do they try to curry favor by giving higher grades to favorite customers. Just goes to show that people who pay these unreasonable price differences just have more dollars than sense (or cents). Now s

PCGS versus NGC

How is it fair that PCGS coins sell for more than NGC coins? Recently, I have looked at auctions with teletrade and noticed that PCGS coins seem to carry a significant margin in price over NGC graded coins. I was already aware of this, but just not to this extent. The 2005 MS70 Marine Corps commemorative graded by NGC sold for $150 in one auction, while the same coin graded MS70 by PCGS sold for $1,100! I feel that this is just absolutely ludicrous. I cannot believe that collectors will pay so

As collectors, have we gotten too stuffy.

Are we pricing new young collectors out of the hobby? I recently exchanged e-mails with a young collector who is just getting started. His collectors' society name is chaosxemperor. He took the time to share his excitement about getting a nice MS-63 1904-O morgan (see "The Newest Addition" journal entry). Kennedy 1964 Proof Accented Hair PR-70?

About to make first entry, came to a complete halt! I was about to make my first entry and when I came to the population report I could not believe what I seen there. I thought I had something very special with a PR-68 DC 1964 Kennedy Half Dollar with Accented Hair. When I looked at the population report, it showed 6,089 in Proof 70! WOW! The Newest Addition

One day on the DLRC(David Lawrence Rare Coins) I found a beautiful coin. A 1904-O Morgan Dollar. Just one problem. It cost 52 dollars! It's all about the journey.

I blame the Boy Scouts. Some of my facination with this hobby stated around age 9.Then coin collecting merit badge entrenched it in me. With myself it is Indians and buffalos.I keep looking for that better grade.Well through the years enthusiasm is up and down ,but my desire to keep searching has never left me,loking for indians and buffalos in mountains of old coins.Besides I can think of nothing better to collect than money.

Morgan Dollars: Why do we love them?

A nice type coin? Sure, they're pretty and desirable, but can you love them, and can you find them? Yes, I know, Morgan collectors are nuts. We break out in a sweat at the sight of a frosty MS-67. We mortgage our house for that 66 DMPL cameo. But just ask us to fork over the cash for an MS-65 Type 1 Standing Liberty Quarter, and all of a sudden we're short on cash because we have to fix the car. PCGS vs NGC Grading

Are PCGS coins graded more conservably than NGC coins? Then why are PCGS coins worth so much more when reselling? I recently submitted 7 lincoln cents graded pr70 ucam by NGC to PCGS for cross-over. Want to guess how many did?

Searching the Oregon Trail.

Ninety percent down the trail and two of 14 still remain elusive! I've been wandering up and down the Oregon Trail in search of the 1938-D and 1938-S.
