I've just found out that the series will NOT continue!
I am kinda bummed.
No more issues of fractional gold buffalos, American Eagle Platinums and American Gold Eagles.
Although I was ready for the Eagle series to end, I was surprised to hear that the same fate befalls the Gold Buffalo too. I have one of each, Uncirculated (I will be ordering the 1 oz Uncirculated Buffalo later in the week).
I understand the 1 oz versions of everyting will continue to be issued.
Maybe the ones I bough
The fundamentals have not changed except .......
things are much worse.
I have written a number of times in the journal that metals gold, silver, platinum are the place to be $$ wise to protect ones nest egg.
Nothing has changed. The markets have yet to find the bottom. And every time things look like the bottom, there goes the floor.
I have used the price decline in commodites to buy, buy, buy.
I hope you have too.
Remember the cry, "Buy the dips!"
Superior Galleries was selling a few of my Morgan?s and one of my coins was stolen while in their possession!!!!!
Stolen Morgan Dollar!!!!!
Superior Galleries was selling a few of my Morgan?s and one of my coins was stolen out of their possession!!!!!
Long story short:
I sent some PCGS graded Morgan?s to Superior Galleries for them to auction off for me. After the coin was withdrawn from its second auction, I received the following email:
?Dear Mr. Sachs,
We have some very unfortunat
The addiction continues to grow!
I recently picked up my first Capped Bust Half dollar. An 1834 Small date, small letters, graded VF25 (imaged below) and it has now kindled a new interest. It is likely that in the next few months I will add the coins I'm acquiring to the Registry.
In the Gallery, if you click on the image or "Enlarge"....
the image now telescopes out nice and smooth. It gives a nice view of the image. Previously clicking on "enlarge" and after it enlarged, images didn't look as nice as it does now!
Kudos to NGC for this recent website feature upgrade!
I received mine, still no where to add it!
I have recieved my 1/10 oz Gold Buffalo. It is pictured below.
You may ask what is all that stuff around the Indians Head? Well, the fields around the Indian has a hammered look to it. On the reverse, the fields around the buffalo are not hammered. It has "normal" proof fields.
As hard as I tried to limit my gold buffalo sets, I failed!
Well, I was only going to do a set of Uncirculated 1/2 oz coins (currently on back-order from the US Mint).
Then I hooked up with the Live dot com Cashback offer and ended up buying a MS70 2008 PCGS (pictued below) 1 oz for less than $900 after the rebate.
Now, I just bought a NGC 1/10 PF69UC Buffalo from Gainesville Coin for what the US Mints sells the coin for raw (though I guess there is a chance for a 70 or a 68 from the Mint
A couple of ways to save money!!
Bought an ounce of gold final cost about $850!Live.com has a program (click on Cashback) going that can yield a 20-25% rebate on a limited number of purchases. Only catch is you must use BIN and pay with PayPal.Edited to add: Unfortunately, the big Rebate % is over. If you didn't get in you missed out. I got $290 in rebate in process.BigCrumbs.com offers unlimited number of discounts though at a smaller rate of return. There is a huge list of companies that part
Completed my $10 Proof Platinum Eagle set
Tomorrow, I will go to the PO and pickup my latest acquisition. A graded 2004 $10 Platinum Eagle. It is the key coin of the set with only 3,171 minted (as I understand it, if this is wrong, please let me know!).
This is one of those eBay good buys. I paid $787 for the coin which PCGS price guide shows its value at $1050. Numismedia shows a value of $970.
Now if I can only get out of the office in time to get home and to the PO before it closes. I l
Finally, some coins came in to image!!
Here is one of the first coin shots with the Kodak z710 Easy Share 7.1 MP digital camera.
Ths is the reverse of my 2008-W Proof $10 Platinum Eagle.
Here is my recent experience with a Collectors Society member.
I was the winner of a coin (what a surprise). After I entered the coin in my Registry set I received an email from the system requesting a transfer of the coin I had earlier entered.
I rejected the transfer.
A short while later, I received a very apologetic email from the member who had received a 2nd chance offer from the same seller.
What a nice gesture. Thanks RUPERT!!

The used 7.1 MP camera arrived yesterday. First shots!
The Kodak z710 arrived and today I was out and about.
I haven't had an opportunity to image any coins with it yet but here is a shot I took today out on a hike.
This photo was shot from the bottom of St Mary's Glacier in Alice, Colorado.
Looks like I am about to get a different digital camera.
I have made an offer on a used Kodak EasyShare Z710 IS 7.1 MP. I put in a Best offer that will put me at $100 delivered.
Maybe my pictures will be better than ever. It also has a 10:1 optical zoom lens!
Does anyone have experience with this line of cameras? If I win this item, I will have a week to decide to keep it or not.
Silver closed up $.72 today and Platinum is back over $2150/oz!
Is this the beginning of the rebound in metals?
Platinum has quietly moved back over $2150/oz. Silver up $.72 today to $17.66/oz and gold is up $14.20 today to $918/oz.
I hope others have used the "dip" to advantage and picked up any or all 3!!
I know I did.
One of the latest purchases.
NGC MS69 2008 W Silver Eagle Rev 0f 2007 Early Release even!
This Silver Eagle on eBay has been bid up to $390 with a bit more than 3 hours left in the auction. Ended at $490. Item number 130220671791.
I was worried that I paid too much at $202. Now, I wonder if I should sell mine while the price is high? Will it keep going up or will it go down? I should have bought 2 then it would be a no brainer!!!
This is the 2007 Reverse of my 2008 coin.
but nooooooo... not a one in hand!
So I bought one, a NGC MS69 Early Release.
But I don't have a set and they are not a part of a set at this time. Is it worth the money I paid for it? Only time will tell.
The photo is of a PCGS MS70 2008 W.
This is a new buy opportunity!
Buy the dips.
I am waiting to see how low it will go first though. I do not feel that the fundemantals of the economy have changed much (still worrisome!) that this IMHO is a price correction/consolidation. Some profit taking but now I hear that the loans called "Jumbo" loans are at an 8% default rate. And I am still waiting to see which "bank" is next in line after Bear Stearns
Sure fire way to break the habit!
Send me all of your gold, silver and platinum!
Once you realize what you have done, you will swear off the habit!!!
email me for the address to send the gold!!!!
With good reason!
Today I was paid our annual bonus. And I found I had deducted the same $400 payment twice in my check book so I decided it was found money and I deserve to reward myself.
So I expect to be adding a NGC graded 2007-W MS70 1/10 oz. to my set soon. I hope to be the winner of the item in less than 1 hour.
Update: I won it at $119. I'm happy!
This is an MS70 NGC 1/10 oz.
I am tapering off.
The last coin I bought was this 1901-S Half Eagle graded AU55.
I normally would have bought it as an MS62, as it is a high mintage issue. But this one was just over melt value.
Today my credit card bill came in. I'll be working on it for a couple of months now. Let's see if that cured me some more!
After adding $0.70/oz today, silver is up another $0.40 on the world market.
Have I mentioned that I like silver as much as I like gold and platinum?
On June 30, 2007 silver was at $12.30/oz. and at this moment silver is at $19.11. A 50% increase. When it gets to $50/oz I may sell some. But some say it is on its way to $100/oz.
I too spent more this weekend!
I bought a 2002 1/4 oz Proof Platinum Eagle, another Half Eagle, 1907 this time and a 2008 1/10 gold eagle.
With this addiction, at least, we something to show for our money! Money!
I get a newsletter called the Gold and Energy Adviser and they have now predicted......
gold to go up to $10,000/oz and Platinum up to $20,000/oz.
It is a doom and gloom prediction but this is the first time they have up-ed their call from $2500/oz for gold and $10,000/oz for platinum.
I am in for the ride!!!!
Bid on and won a New Orleans minted Half Eagle! I really did not want to spend the money now but I am, after all, a Numis-addict.
I have now been collecting half eagles for close to 3 years. I have found that the more common date and mint half eagles are mostly P and S. There are usually a number of CC, C and D minted half eagles available from different sellers but premium priced. And rarely, as I have only been able bid on this 1844-O since I started this set, are O minted half eagles offere
