If you get desperate, I’ll swap like for like, P for D, when I get back from Chicago.

Swap?! Ya big cheapo! @CoffeeTime, I'll gladly send out a well circulated Maya P, Sally P, and Mankiller P, once found, Monday afternoon, if you PM me your address. I can supply references, upon request. Enjoy your weekend, and thank you for stopping by and posting something! Means a lot.

I was in Seattle not long ago and someone rattled off something like this.  Everyone in line rolled their eyes.

    Nice star note find.

Thank you! I believe I've heard something very similar, which i why i have fun with it, and try to drop a somewhat coin reference in there. Gotta keep it coin related!

I find ☆ notes almost as much as old timey coins. I'll be posting over on the "nothingburger" thread as they come in. This thread has been hijacked enough, by me.

Hope to see you over there!

@CoinJockey73:  Well, at least you never had my problem. I was called a troll by someone, which I mistook to mean a gremlin under a bridge. And then some new guy comes along and challenged me on something effectively forcing me to defend my position by putting me in the unenviable position of having to answer someone who had taken me seriously. Whoa! Your doing just fine. In an ideal world, we all learn to accept our differences--and move on. I, for one, enjoy your work. In my mind vintage coin finds are not possible. Your postings suggest otherwise. Way I see it, Connecticut's [CT] loss is our gain.  (thumbsu

Haha! Gremlin! Agreed! I may appear to be a troll, but the more posts you see, the more you'll realize, I'm not a troll. I just don't care. Sorry to hear of your past troubles here.

I must confess, i think you believe this is some act, and I have some ulterior motive other than goofing off. I don't. I'm not that smart, trust me. When i attempt anything like that, it's usually me holding the bag, so i try to avoid anything with real thought. That's not a joke. I quote your above statement, "In an ideal world, we all learn to accept our differences--and move on", amen brother, amen (that's not religious). That's me, to a fault. I really am quite simplistic. If it seems like i know what I'm doing, that's just because i read a lot. I'm usually just spit-balling to see what sticks. Which by definition, is a troll. Holy Moses (that's not religious either), I'm a troll? Does that mean I'm a bully too? Did i come over here, just because i was banned over on CT, and start running things like i own it, pushing people around?! lol

Not a coin today, but I'm always looking, and usually finding.

Got in change this morning when i got my vente grande half calf mochachino draped bust boba tea latte, extra extra stevia. Yum.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, my friend. Hopefully i won't wear out my welcome.

Totally wrong thread for this, sorry.

When is a ‘64 quarter not a ‘64 quarter? When it wasn’t struck in 1964. But again, for all post-Depression coins, if it ain’t uncirculated, I don’t care about it. Only pre-1933 gets a look if circulated. And not all denominations of those. The “newest” coin/year/mint in my current search is an uncirculated 1939-D Walking Liberty half.

I mean, my posts in general. That was way back in March '21. My song sounds exactly the same yesterday. Almost word for word. That's what i meant about sounding like a broken record. I don't like coins, i find stuff all the time, shouldn't be so serious. Blah blah blah. There's not an original thought there. Sad.

Thank you. Just to give an example of my useless contributions, these are all the 1964 quarters I've found in circulation in the past 13 months.

I post stuff like this every day, almost 5 days a week. Nothing special. No Morgans, or double eagles, but i do find something, be it a 1941 nickel, a day.

I'm only interested in coins i can find in circulation, so i really have nothing special to contribute. But ppl come by my thread every day and thumbs up me, or tell me the reverse on that '56 quarter is very rare... stuff like that. It's a fun site! Shouldn't be taken so seriously.

Hey @VKurtB, do i at least get points for consistency? I sound like a freaking broken record

You can haggle with my son when I draw my last.

@VKurtB, i am in shock! This goes against everything we stand for, well the one thing we agree on, in numismatics! Share! Share with a fellow coin enthusiast! And not just any coin enthusiast, it's freaking @Lem E! He has what, the second best registered set on the planet, or something like that? What a story! @VKurtB sells rare nickel to make the first complete set of blah blah blah. You know what i mean. And you know he's good for it, his reputation is stellar. He's clearly no cheapskate, like me. Why not?! What a feel good story going into the weekend.

Unless, you, ah, unless maybe, just maybe, and i mean a teeny tiny lower case maybe, just maybe... you don't got it?

    Edit*

I don't want anyone offended by this. If you haven't figured out yet, we're all having a bit of fun. I'm not actually calling @VKurtB out to sell his coin to @Lem E. It's just me being a goof ball, at their expense. Sorry fellas. You knows i luvs ya. Have a great weekend.

  7. Happy Friday! I said, happy Friday! Alright, never mind. Hard to get the crowd into it when it's just you. Anyway. Happy Friday!

@VKurtB, I'll put this in a ziplok baggie with the other 1951S nickels I've found. I've probably only found a dozen. Make that a bakers dozen. I can post up pics of how i store my doubles and triples. You'd be thrilled.

It’s the epitome of fair. Everybody who has that sample slab has the fancy number. I did more research on that service. It bought the equipment and supplies of PCI, and for part of its history, it was owned by David Lawrence of DLRC. It had a not bad reputation but didn’t last all that long. I guess the inherent conflict of interest of a major dealer owning a TPGS just got too overwhelming. Either that, or they ran out of PCI’s old slabs and didn’t want to buy more. So now the top two firms are owned by private equity firms. Pick your poison, right?

And they send out everyday clad coins in a cooly numbered holders that look like slabs. Diabolical.

Promotional sample slabs. Happens all the time. Regardless, the company doesn’t even exist anymore. Just another fly-by-night operator.

But it's numbered with a very cool number. One of those repeaters. That's not fair.

My eyes aren't as sharp as they used to be either.  Sounds like you need a good 40x LED loupe (to go with a 10x LED glass for quick checks). I understand some swear by the USB scopes, but that's not really my style.

This is my current rig. Never mind those silly coins in the background, just a couple nothingburgers i found this week. Wink wink. I'll look into the 40x. Thanks for the advice, always welcome.

I do have one in BU (raw) but it drove me nuts finding one. The “Holy Grail” Jefferson is the PROOF 1940 with the Reverse of 1938.

BU? You? BU? How embarrassing! I thought you were mint state Charlie! Haha! Just kidding, just kidding. I'm sure it's the best BU you could find. I don't have anything BU. Mine are all PU, get it?

all 1939 nickels have two reverses... 1938 and 1940.  These reverse varieties are based on the definition within the sides of the walls to the steps.  The 40 is much more defined.

Holy mackerel. That's the only way to tell, on an 80 year old nickel? Not happening in the wild, sorry friends. But thank you for the tip @The Neophyte Numismatist, always appreciated.

There is also a QDR (Quadrupled Die Reverse) for the 39P but it isn’t as popular or desirable as the DDR. In my opinion the 39 S REV OF 40 is one of the true key date coins in the series. You just don’t see them very often. I’m still searching for that one.

    I'm easily confused. It's a 1939S with the reverse of a 40? Hmmmm
