  1. I will always try for the special issues ase’s, because I really like them. Reverse proof, I’m there but there’s more to collecting. Stick around long enough and my brothers and sisters will present a series of great collection ideas. Coin roll hunting. Albums. Type sets. 😉🙀🦫
  2. He’s a dang mentor. Did you see that Oregon dollar. I can only hope. 😉🙀🦫
  3. Wait a dang minute!! I thought you were talking about pcgs forum Beaver pointed out that he doesn’t recognize you and cat backs him up. Coin Talk I’m not familiar with so….. Welcome. ( glad I didn’t start looking for your nemesis Doug, over there)😉🙀🦫
  4. I’ve mentioned that I am not collecting ase’s anymore. I have started a Roosie dime album. Begun collecting tokens and SCD’s . And for fun coins with beavers or merchants tokens from places like Beaver Falls centennial, Pa. Oregon, Canada and miscellaneous towns provide plenty of options and a wide spread of cost. Here’s three I’m proud of and were reasonable cost wise. But sometimes along comes a rather unique piece. It spoke to me and I’m probably opening myself to some good natured ribbing but I just love it.
  5. Thanks. I believe we all can benefit from a feel good story. Congradulations 😉🙀🦫
  6. I completed my collection last year with the type 2 first types W S & W burnished. 2- coin reverse proof set. No more. Done. They used me up. Burnt my brain, Took advantage of my wallet, my patience, and left me drained. I stopped, no 95 or 2019S. Oh well. I put it all away and started collecting real coins, tokens and SCD ‘s. And the quest for coins with beavers 😉🙀🦫
  7. The coin came to me in change years ago. I always imagine that is what a dryer coin would look like. Its smooth and has some interesting features. Just not a belt sander look. If needed for reference I’ll gladly take some better pictures. Funny thing I remember about it (it’s been 20 years) is after I checked my change it was counted as a dime😂
  8. Well I went to all the dang trouble to find this thing. So I’m gunna share it because I can’t control OP meltdown but it’s a fun coin. Also, asked the boss lady about dryers and such and she pretty much said “guys” don’t always empty the pockets. The water holds everything in place in the washer but the dryer is where stuff falls out. 😉🙀🦫
  9. I’ve got one similar to this only 2015 I think. It’s put away. These are as mentioned, party favors, mine was given out at a luncheon as I recall.
  10. Welcome. Yup, me and the boy’s (cat and beaver) consider this our home. The other forum gets busy but part of that ( and something that makes this place different) is it’s general nature, while this is for newbies. There’s a group of us who use it as a general purpose meeting area while attempting to help new folks. Can get repetitive but such is life. Please listen to Kurt about politics being very carefully used We don’t all agree but seem to be able to overlook any differences ( mostly) and enjoy each other’s opinions. Little slower pace sometimes 🤨 Jzyskowski1 😉🙀🦫
  11. I’ll be danged. Nice job buddy. Sometimes I just need to see my thinking in words to bring about a resolution. I was thinking check the value as the 66 rays can get pricey. What next?
  12. Howdy Peaceman. Glad to see you found this forum. I am going to welcome you and then let you discover how many of us are over here. Dozens of members at collectors forum (pcgs) also haunt here. Over there your 64 Kennedy wasn’t a SMS and last you said you were sending it in for grading. I like to consider this my home group and I’ll be danged , if you are going to interact here , I suggest you watch how you comport yourself. Oh. My elderly eyes didn’t notice, you got yourself banned over there 😉🦫🙀 If you try real hard you can get banned here too Just watch it, I got my eyes on you 👀
  13. I find the early commemoratives are too pricey but moderns I can do. I prefer high grade , nice coins ,so that don’t help being picky. 😎 I can’t repeat enough. Buy what you like. When I started buying new issues from the mint it was easy. I liked it or not. With back issues a red book was helpful. I could study designs and check mintage. Several of us here grabbed the 2008 with the sweet bald eagle issue. Moderns can be found for cheap (under $40) Silver, to boot As always my 2 cent 😉🙀🦫
  14. Welcome. What was provided by Mike are links to begin your journey. I have been at this for a little while and I get confused all the time. Google may be helpful. Research is going to help. Asking questions here will provide a nice variety of advice. Try to organize your questions and ask away. We’re a pretty good bunch here just beware of humor as it’s used alot. 😉🙀🦫
  15. Neo. That’s what I thought then realized that the colorized U.S. mint issues are color applied at a separate facility. Would that be post mint. ? Just got me to thinking, ofcourse this could become a problem 😉 as I tend to argue with myself What say you? They graded em. Read an article about how the colorization was done.
  16. Welcome. This is how we learn and I’m far from an expert. I’ll step up. I say MD. My understanding is that the step or little pedestal is even and there’s a couple other things missing to indicate anything other than MD.
  17. AW on obverse are designers initials. They are bullion additions. MM required for collectors edition. Nothing special. Ase’s are going for spot plus $10 premium and grading is 25-40 so there’s your value
  18. The 2018 mintage 138,000 ,several years 150,000. They are way mis-understood and my pick to be the sleeping giant. Just my 2 cents 😉
  19. Ah yes. This is one of the biggest areas of question. I had to pay a price to learn. A couple disappointed results will educate you. Post pictures here and we’ll do what we can. This is not an easy thing you are doing. There will be mistakes. It’s ok. Sorry and I say again we’ve done it and will help you.
  20. Safes and Tupperware tubs. Boxes and bags. Books and albums. More more more! I’ll just have to go to my grave with a mountain of stuff and I think they will enjoy it. They are very aware of my passion and know that collecting is personal. Very easy for me because I really really like what I’m doing and when I’m dead I won’t care. I’ll share this. Stick a $100,000 in a life insurance policy and specify it be used to preserve or replace the collection with something different. A little cash makes negotiating something like this a little easier.
  21. Sometimes referred to as a parking lot coin. Keep searching and posting. It’s how we all learn.
  22. Give it the magnet 🧲 and ring test. And a weight. Howdy Bill. This is an adventure for me because I’m learning also 👍🏼
  23. Howdy. Welcome. Please do not hold coins like that , it’s fingernails on a chalkboard. Cotton gloves or cotton tshirt. Very cool find. Rule 1. Never clean 2. hold by the edge. Its very cool but most of us believe we are caretakers and responsibility for the coin is 1.
