  1. I sorta figured it wasnโ€™t but I am amused by the picture. Sorry. What is it. Weight and measurement. Thereโ€™s no rim so itโ€™s not quite a prepared planchet. Slug? How the heck did, if itโ€™s a blank, it find its way out, if indeed a blank. More research ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  2. Welcome. We all have been where youโ€™re at or similar and are sharing from experience, please donโ€™t take offense. I personally have a small collection of โ€œwhat the heck was I thinking โ€œ coins. You can pick a couple and start your own. ( kinda lemons to lemonade sort of thing ) The Cherrypickers Guide is your road map. The Redbook is a good resource. Your hobby, make it fun and collect what you like. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  3. Howdy. Old thread๐Ÿคจ I see. Yes, books before coins. There are those who say when your library is larger than your collection of coins, your becoming a numismatist. All you can get and then thereโ€™s these that are from the 20โ€™s & 30โ€™s. Enjoy ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ Also a quick shot of my daily reference ๐Ÿง
  4. Howdy and welcome. Dryer coin on one side? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿฆซ๐Ÿ™€ Nah , edge would be gone Some sort of lamination error or?
  5. Thatโ€™s the only one Iโ€™ve seen like that. Cool effect. Such a great hobby. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  6. Go get em JP. Iโ€™m looking at trying to get to Denver for the big show beginning of May Pictures of your new finds please ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  7. I bought one congratulations set and it was easygoing. Actually did it. Didnโ€™t buy any extra W proofs, just the one because of itโ€™s being the first type 2 congratulations set. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  8. Get some of those self slabs from eBay. Wizzard supply or Amazon. They are a couple bucks each and work well. Get the good plastic. I like slabs but have several coins that only need protection. Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  9. I got mine couple days back (quickly). I also noticed that Wow everything is really really nice. Had no trouble getting a congratulations set today. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ The quarters are different in hand. Much nicer than I thought. Gunna be a limited number of clad S proof quarters and even fewer S clad Kennedys.
  10. There now. Donโ€™t you feel better talking about it. Letโ€™s have one and cheer our hosts for providing this forum ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  11. Howdy. I was told to learn about any coin I bought. You have begun that step. Iโ€™m wondering if maybe you should study collecting in general and wait before jumping into a kinda specific and difficult type. I was also told that if thereโ€™s more than one then whatโ€™s the hurry. Not talking aseโ€™s or proof sets. Some serious money can be involved. Enjoy your hobby and buy what you like. Good luck and remember study study study ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ ps. That thing looks harshly cleaned
  12. And then the tumble weeds start to fly and stack up something fierce, dang near bury the whole neighborhood. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  13. This is also the right time to start a collection of the type 2โ€™s. Best advice I have received is collect what you like and study study study ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ. I collect coins with beavers on them ๐Ÿง transportation tokens and SCD including half so-called dollars. I remember I am the caretaker and handle coins with cotton gloves or t-shirts. Never clean and store properly. Enjoy and welcome to knowledge land๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ
  14. Jerry Jerry. I am going to suggest some different help. These guys are good. I can not help you from a professional perspective, sorry. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  15. Interesting. Do you have a picture of one in the 2x2 with staple offenders in place. I do better visually. Thanks ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  16. I would sell it. If keeping. Remove from holder, give it a little pure acetone rinse and put in a self slab holder $2-$3 ea. Wizzard supply. eBay. Donโ€™t send it in. Slabbed examples are reasonably priced. Now if it has personal importance, perhaps let it be. Memory and such. You could carefully remove it and keep original stuff as part of the collection. ๐Ÿฆซ๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿ˜‰
  17. Thanks buddy Good news is so welcome. Nice job ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  18. I think me and the boys will try for a congratulations set. First issue with type 2 ase. HHL3 30,000 limit. Plenty of collectors for these, 30% premium certified,at least. Gunna be next to impossible to get any before the mints computer meltdown. This is just for fun. Iโ€™ll get a 22 later as you guys did well, Iโ€™ll find an album filler. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  19. Welcome. Iโ€™m not sure where to start. First, you probably shouldnโ€™t hold a possibly valuable coin like the pictures. Hold by the edges. Never clean. Next. Research, as your doing ๐Ÿ˜‰, as weight, more pictures and hang in there are some smart folks here. Gold not my specific area but cotton gloves or an old 100% cotton t-shirt for handling is a good start google it and see what comes up. Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  20. When it works itโ€™s great and then thereโ€™s those other times. What was the grade originally ? Good luck next time ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  21. Different Morgan but a good one. My question, is that a gold coin ring heโ€™s wearing? ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
  22. Nice score JP. Feast or famine. For me my old grandpa budget is good with a steady flow of stuff but it gets uncomfortable if several โ€œ got to have its โ€œ show up around the same time and usually 2 weeks before I get any fresh money ๐Ÿ˜‚
  23. Check em with a magnet and do the ring test on the counter. Drop one style from a couple inches repeat with questionable coin and listen for difference. Iโ€™m gunna look in my ase bible and see if thereโ€™s any mention. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ™€๐Ÿฆซ
