  1. Me too JP. I only know a little but I believe mechanical doubling has flat edges more like a step (sorry more coffee and words will come). The more experienced will clarify soon. Very cool 🤓🙀
  2. Lots of ms70. Search eBay search google. Here’s 3 different examples. Usually you can find most any date and mint mark from the 1970’s on, slabbed in most grades from 65-70 One is burnished Ms69 one is proof 69 and one is ms67pl
  3. Top picture looks like a black eye 👁 or perhaps the dreaded stink eye 🤓🙀😂. Really appreciate you posting this again JP as it’s a great teaching aid. Thanks 🤓🙀
  4. Howdy. Those are called burnished and I don’t quite understand your question. Here’s a couple answers. Proof coins can grade below 60. accidental circulation. All circulating and burnished for collectors and proof can be slabbed (certified). Grading goes from 0-70 with kinda below 0 grades possible. Some collectors like very low end coins. Thanks 🤓🙀
  5. Thanks Mike those are things I’m just exploring but absolutely. Good advice 🤓🙀
  6. No no no you’re just fine. I use descriptive words all the time (although I am trying to learn the numismatic language). Here’s a picture from the red book (there is a 1946s/d so that’s a plus). Looks different to me but that’s not saying it is not. Let’s study the pictures and report back. Get you involved in the process 🤓🙀 maybe
  7. Here’s one I bought just because, I don’t know. I like it 😃. Profound words JP. I quit cigarettes and booze and bar hopping. I can’t imagine how much money I have saved but I agree when splurging on $5-10 compulsive buys to remember and focus on the good stuff One thing I have not experienced is waking up the next day with no money and a hangover to show for it🤪. Now I wake up with no money but something cool to show for it😃 Minted in Philly for Nepal.
  8. Where do you think the doubling is? I am not seeing it but only on my first coffee 🤓🙀😉
  9. Interesting, any possibility of a close up of the mm. Looks like there might be something going on. Thanks
  10. Hello and welcome. Don’t be shy. It’s ok I had trouble with my first posts. Pretty good pictures remember that both sides will help. Your question please?🤓🙀
  11. Welcome. As said by coinbuf (he’s someone I respect very much) it’s worth a quarter. It appears to just be pmd or post mint damage.🤓🙀
  12. I have some concerns with the 3 There’s a feeling that I get when I can mark more than one problem. I’m at 1 & 1/2 so I’m with my fellow collectors. You could find a coin show and save some money find someone there to look at it and if it’s fake buy yourself a coin with the money you save. Welcome 🤓🙀 Holy moly 🚩🚩🚩alert My grandpa eyes (thanks coffee) see the “n” problem that’s not right. That’s 2&1/2 problems and confirmation. 🤓🙀 The li in liberty and just the whole looks of the lettering 🚩
  13. Should he pop it out and do the ring test to test for silver? It looks ok. If unfamiliar Tap it gently on the counter or something similar to listen for the ring of silver. To compare tap a newer quarter. Listen. Tap yours it should ring. 🤓🙀
  14. Glad it worked out. I didn’t want to climb on the band wagon but I have bought several coins from them 6-8 and they are just the best. Now with one more good review I can say I recommend them lots of coins but they are really good at customer service . 🤓🙀
  15. Hi and welcome. You have come to the right place and I really want to thank JKK for sharing in my opinion a very good essay on how to begin handling your situation. I can only repeat a couple things 1. Handle coins with cotton gloves or cloth tee. Handle by edges. 2. Never clean 3. Get a red book last year is fine. eBay wizzard supply. Amazon. Local book store 4. Post as good quality pictures as you can. I have practiced with my iPhone 7 and have gotten pretty good. JKK is right..,there are those of us who love helping people with their coins. Thanks 🤓🙀
  16. Here’s a handy product for 1982 varieties. That coin your looking for is extremely hard if not impossible to get. A fake would probably be easier to find 🤓🙀🙏
  17. It arrived the other day and is stunning in hand. There’s a golden red hue I hope the pictures look good 🤓🙀 Chain baby some of the first 🙏
  18. My WW2 privy milk spots were there at opening. I am not going to go to far out on a limb but I think you may be right about the spots. Haven’t had any turn but one. They came that way Certified and not fresh from the mint or later secondary 🤓🙀
  19. I got lucky twice this year aseS & W. Mostly I got dogs (no offense) milk spots on every dang thing 🤓🙀
  20. Yes sir and or they appear on tv as “survivors “ of wreckage from xyz ship disaster. Buy a “pinch of gold” from only too much. 🤓🙀
  21. I agree I need to remember that the dang things cost 💲 73 plus shipping $5. Makes it hard for the pricing when you add grading fees. But it’s crazy right now. Seems like a turkey shoot do I get a certified 69 now and lock in a price or wait for the usual price drop. Ever since the WW2 privy last year there seems to be no way to predict anything from the mint. Look at the crazy pricing on the W proof 2021 ase’s slabbed. ( currently I plan on moving away from ase’s to something new. Dimes or WLH something. Thanks 🤓🙀🙏
  22. Saw this and thought of the many comments I have seen on ancient coins. This is for you
