  1. Another for the set. Not a MS but. The Price was nice
  2. There are so many slabbed coins out there. If I can't get a coin all ready graded in a holder close to raw price, I just wait a while. It will turn up some time close to my pocketbook price. And yes I still get raw coins for the folders when I can.
  3. I am a Electrician LoL . The tanks and pipes are unreachable That is why the bulbs work so well. I may just pick up some flood light bulbs if I cant get some of the old ones. Or just go to warmer weather if it gets to cold up here. Last winter it was colder in the south than Cape Cod.
  4. Ya I am bumming . I use 60W bulbs in the compartments of my Motor home to keep the tanks and pipes from freezing. At 0 degrees outside one 60W bulb will keep the compartment a 40 degrees. I don't think the LED bulb will do the same.
  5. I have some 1975 and 1976 proof sets and mint sets I picked up for $5 each. I also saved my 1976 Quarters from pocket change we all thought they would be worth something later but after almost 50 years they are not worth more than a quarter. I have started to give them away to the grand kids for playing games at the arcade. I find that makes them worth more.
  6. Or.... He is trying to get a rise out of a bunch of coin collectors.
  7. I know it is not Tuesday but at my age I do things when I am thinking of them or I will forget to. We are in Wolfeboro on Lake Winni NH we took the grandkids to the arcade in Laconia .
  8. On my nickels I set my mark at 30% and I walk ..If it is a hard to find coin I may go to 50% but that's it. then I walk....That's why I still have a lot of dates to fill..LoL. On my Morgan's I was getting the easy MS ones at 30 and 50 % but in the last year because of the tougher dates I have been running between 60 and 80% of high retail. My No 1 rule is...There will always be another coin down the road to bid on, if I live long enough to see it.
  9. I agree, I have a few Top Pop Nickels that I have picked up cheap. Not that I was looking for them, I just got lucky on the bid or finding them on a shelf in a shop somewhere.
  10. A price guide is a reference, most of the time High or over priced for the dealer to use. Although some dealers go by auction prices and e-bay if the price is higher .If a coin is not very old it may not have a price guide yet. Remember that the price guide may not be up to date also.
  11. Yes I have seen this coin bid, It is currently biding in the $1500 range. As you may or may not know I am building a Nickel Set and I would never bid on this kind of a coin, to rich for me . Like Greenstang has pointed out . To a lot of bidders money is no object.
  12. I agree this was jeweler's sample to show different carvings for silver rings or wrist bands. The coin is worth melt unless you can find a buyer that likes the PMD.
  13. Greenstang is correct, there is no way to tell. Each coin stands on it's own merits there is no one shoe fits all. What I may consider a nice coin he could dislike its looks. What I think is worth $50 is only worth $20 to someone trying to resell it.
  14. Yes at $175 give or take it would be worth the cost if you intend to sell it at any time. I would not know how much the other costs would run you.
  15. The coin has some discoloration on the reverse anyway so it is not at it's full value and would need conservation that may not work. It may not be worth the cost to re-holder the coin ,only you would know that.
  16. Hi Chris. When looking for error coins remember that the coin must be in good shape to start with. Finding one is hard enough and if it is all scratched up it will not be worth anything other than face value.
  17. It looks like it was on a piece of cloth for many years and it corroded or picked up some kind of reaction to the material and it stained and pitted the coin bad.
  18. I wanted to say welcome but I see you have been a member for 4 years. I do like it I think it is a unique set, it just would not work for me.
  19. I did look it up but the NGC value is only the value price of one coin.
