  1. There is a new type of error recognized on nickels. It is called a Bar Die Error. I have seen this on many nickels where there is excess metal between the rim and the edge of the devices. It is important to be sure it is not displaced metal pushed in from the rim. I guess they are getting there own label now. So far the list does not go any further than 1969. Not to say there are not others out there but none that have been reported to Variety Vista yet. http://www.varietyvista.com/35 BAR Nickels/BAR Listings.htm
  2. I also disagree with the SMS on the newer coins. I think SMS should only reference the 65,66and 67 coins .ATS calls it Satin Finish . It should have been something different for NGC like SMF (Special Matt Finish) to late to change it now. Erin there are many factors to consider when looking at coins. Keep on trying. Don't give up ya never know what you will find.
  3. It is a fact 2006 SMS, Sorry Roger..Also 2005 SMS coins
  4. That looks like a FS 5 depending on the grader looking at it. The nick on the top step may or may not change to outcome.
  5. Well it looks clean now. the coin is well circulated from the looks. I don't care how soft the brush was. It left scratches behind
  6. I see nothing special just some good looking coins in a cellophane wrapper and two plastic e-z open holders. The 67 does have the nicest fields of all three samples
  7. 1964,65,66 and 67 were strange years for the mint . Well actually for everyone everywhere Lol... I think there was someone in the cellar going through bags of coins saying this one looks good enough for a SMS set.
  8. I have many proof sets that have coins in them that were just ok enough to put in the box. It makes you wonder sometimes?
  9. My guess is the 1885 would get a MS 63 with hopes it does not get a art tone label. I think the 1904 has a chance for a MS64
  10. Now that looks like a dryer coin. It got pinched in the center between the barrel and frame and spun around a lot before it fell out .
  11. Thanks GoldFinger It is a nice AU58. The 1890 -1895 are the pricier coins in the set. trying to find a Morgan in the price range you posted $50 to $75 is not as easy as it sounds. I am always looking for a MS coin but a 1891 MS 60 to 63 at auction can go from 100 to 300 depending on the coin and the bidders mentality. Finding a good looking reasonable priced coin all ready in a $50 holder is what I am always looking for. As for Pay up the last 3 coins will be the killers 1893,94 and 95 can be a bit high even at G4.
  12. The coin RWB shows has a beaded rim, yours has denticles
  13. I have been trying to find a MS 1891 Morgan for a reasonable price for the last year. Every time I find one it bids out way to high. When I saw this AU58 it looked just as nice as some 62,63 and 64's so for $54 I think it was a good deal.
  14. I think most of these posters know exactly what they have 99 % of the time. They just want to see what they can get away with and what we will say.
  15. I roll hunt all the time and I think it is a great find ( yes one of a kind ) like all coins or anything for that matter. The point everyone is trying to put out there Kass is that it is a very worn coin and unless you find someone who is in love with it. I would just put it in a 2x2 and keep it for yourself.
  16. I have a few coins in slabs with minor doubling or RPM's . It is not worth it for me to send them back for verification. I think the cost would out way the value . Now if you have the money to burn then that is your choice.
  17. It is my understanding It is a option when sending in a coin to Wexler if it is found to have a oddity. They will send it to ANACS to have it slabbed for you , for a fee of course. Many of these will not cross over But new collectors will think they are error coins anyway.
