  1. They like me I guess. or they like the big coins less
  2. Another trip to the bank today and asked if they had any strange coins they wanted to part with? One girl said I have 19 of them if you want. I said sure. LoL I got one silver out of the batch. At melt It is almost worth what I paid for the whole of them.
  3. Well, collecting nickels it is almost a normal expectation to find polished dies. Some are quite nice. Finger prints not so nice and never either of the two on proofs.
  4. It could be a hardened piece of grease . A strike through can be a one time thing a lot of times it is gone after the first hit .
  5. I agree it was mounted in a bezel and then coated with a sealer of some kind.
  6. I just looked up your coin with the numbers and it was listed. There is no photo but it has information. Also wanted to say...Very nice coin ...
  7. It looks to have the strike of a very worn out die, that is all ,Sorry .....Not a error
  8. QA I for one think you should not be even asking about this stuff. We try to discourage the new people from doing any more damage than is all ready being pushed around the internet.
  9. Thank you for the heads up Sandon. I will have to see if I have any of the type 1 coins. Not that I would break the set but good value factor to know about. Maybe slip a note in the envelope for the kids so they will know.
  10. This came in today and I was hoping it would be a gold colored UC .I think it is cool looking. I have seen this color on some mint sets I have bought in the past.
  11. Not all dealers are numismatics some are just salespersons.
  12. Congratulation on those wonderful grades, It makes me want to go out and buy a square box.
  13. Yes Roll hunting helps for finding the three C's. Those little imperfections ......Clashes,,,Cracks..and,.Cuds,,,,These coins are all 2021 eye clashes. Not a Item worth grading I just label them and put them in a box for another time.
  14. The cent is showing the rim being mushroomed . I like the term ( Dryer Coin ) anyway it just fits .
  15. I have some normal looking 1943 cents for you . I do have a couple of nice ones somewhere but this is what they look like unprotected and. well circulated
  16. Roll hunting, I have always found Denver coins have a much stronger looking strike and proof like fields for many of the coins. So I can see why the count would be higher for people trying to get the PL designation on a coin.
  17. A very nice collection you have going there Hog
  18. In the past some coin company's cleaned polished and plated coins for retail. Many people would buy these certified coins through magazines and TV advertisements never knowing that the coins are the same as almost any coin on the street just cleaned up with a fancy piece of paper. Everything on that paper is true to a point just not specifically pertaining to a individual coin .
  19. I dug up some 2021 P Eye clash coins to show the obverse line next to the left eye.
  20. I like many collectors use the Redbook for a reference among other sites like NGC and PCGS, Coin World and such . I am just a old construction worker, biker ,musician I am kinda gruff around the edges and don't always explain things very well and I make mistakes all the time . The problem is Mike, when we explain something about a coin we have to be carful on what we say. Especially for the new people. This site even though most of us are only collectors our comments are available world wide. If we say something out of context we better have something to back it up. That's all I wanted to say and here is the Redbook page on proofs and another PL. to keep things rolling.
