  1. And thank you to all who are helping me to learn. I really enjoy the nuance and the history behind the coins I've been looking at. It really is an art and is a fascinating hoppy I hope to learn more about!
  2. Well that explains it. You're confused! I can probably help if you're able to follow... "Down" is the direction that a person's grade will go in English Composition class when you use an ellipse after a period. (See Proper Usage Above) It is also the direction in which one falls when one's mother drops her child on his head. Naturally; this occurs after her second bottle of Boone's Farm runs dry! That should be a familiar analogy; No? This should help any person to distinguish the reason a "newbie" is seeking information in a beginner's forum. In fact, I'm not really sure a quarter can actually go "down" in value? You must be referring to depreciation because that response could never be mistaken for sarcasm. (For Proper Usage of Semicolons and Sarcam; Note the Response Above) Can you spot the "errors" in this thread? And, sweet emoji by the way...
  3. What do you think about that lettering? I know that this coin doesn't have much of a history when it comes to double dies but could it possibly be one of the many types that occur? Ill send a better image. Camera sucks but the letters seem to have odd shapes all over the reverse.
  4. @Sandon, The 8 actually looked like a nine at first glance and appeared to be very different than others I saw as well as the the other numbers in the date. Thats why im in this forum. I look here for information.. I don't know the vocabulary nor do I have the eye. The quarter was in my pocket and the dime was mixed in with pre 65 silver coins that I now have after my mother passed. I've been looking through all of it when I can find the time. Iwas just curious as to why the 68 would be there too.. The one led the other and I finally decided to just register here so I could ask. Ill deal with the extra emails later! If they were common then none of us would be here at all. Just here to learn
  5. Thanks Greenstang. Having a lot of fun just lloking and learning. Found this today too... Is this what you are referring to? It's symmetrical and looks to be mechanical from the description..
  6. Do I have an error here or is the "8" in the date stamp damaged? Would love to know. There are a few other curious marks as well. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, B
  7. Appears to be a symmetrical mechanical strike tha seems to coincide with the circle filed on the reverse. Just wondering what I stumbled across here. Would love to hear back about it. Thanks -B
