  1. There is also the FG to look at. I think on the CAM it is farther from the steps.
  2. It looks like the zinc is deteriorating under the copper plating.
  3. It looks like there was something wrong with the die. You can see lots of polish lines in those areas
  4. You could post some pictures and we can see. Most of them look very nice but trying to get one to grade out at MS 68 would be tough . I would just leave it in the set.
  5. You may get more comments on the Newbie section of the forums. A real nice quarter you have there.
  6. It was most likely in red dirt before it ended up in the change jar. Also, I have seen clad coins that were mixed in with copper cents take on a copper tone. 20 years is a long time
  7. If it will fill your book I would crack it. You can always look for a NGC proof to match your reverse proof if you want.
  8. We do understand, I roll hunt for coins all the time. I find that circulation can change the coin a lot over the years. The metal moves around and changes the look. The devices on your coin have been changed and so it may look like doubling to you, but the coin does not match any of the markers of other discoveries. With a coin this old you have to look for all the markers available and I do not see them. Sorry, I always say Keep up the hunt if you love it like I do.
  9. Enjoy, it sounds like a good time even if you don't find what you are looking for.
  10. I receive private listings from Heritage every week of high-quality coins that are graded. Nothing my pocketbook can afford I am sure there are dealers out there that have a hit list of customers they call when something comes up. There is an auction house only a mile or two down the road from where I live. If you do not have their listings, you don't know there is a auction going on until you drive by. There is a quiet side to numismatics most collectors do not see.
  11. Good find, Like Eagle said not much value but You do have the satisfaction of knowing it is a keeper.
  12. I wish you all a happy and prosperous 2024, from an old roll hunter.
  13. Looks like you got your color balance working, I see no more green.
  14. In my opinion it will be a mess. I think JA should have just opened up his sticker services to the general public if he was trying to make a buck or two. Now he is committed. And now, what will happen to ANACS. Will they be pushed off the map with ICG.
  15. You should look at the video GF. I see you talking about ABC coins and after watching the video I do not think there is B or C anymore. You get a Details Questionable Surface or a Bean CAC.
  16. If you go by the NGC Registry this would be the first and last of the Westward Journey set
  17. I would be happy to find just a 1997 SP nickel at a price below $100 not an easy task.
  18. In 1975 we lived in Gouverneur NY about 30 miles south of the Saint Lawrance River. My Father-in-law had a country store we all lived and worked in outside of town. We exchanged many a coin and currency and never charged a percentage.
  19. Almost all these coins have come from roll hunting U.S. coin rolls. I also have some nice washers and other spacers that have been snuck into rolls.
  20. It is going to end up being a lot of BS. I can see the replies from dealers all ready. You want to sell your MS65 but it is in an NGC or a PCGS holder so it is really a MS64 so you get half of that. If it was in a CAC holder it is a real MS65 You still get half from the dealer, but it is real. I still say it is all just an opinion and I am sure JA is not doing the grading by himself. It will be a new experience for all Numismatics everywhere. .
  21. We used to see a lot of Canadian change in the 60,70, and 80's when they could cross the border easily to work in New England. Not so much anymore.
  22. I am not a collector of Canadian coins, but I always like it when I find a nice one in a roll of nickels. They are just so shiny. Not much nickel in them 94.5% steel.
  23. Your closeups are good, next time you may want to try a white background it may help to show the true color of the coin.
