I agree with Stang, also try to orient your shots north and south and use a white background to shoot photos it gives a truer color.

LOL, we are very different. I keep every wheatie I find.
I still keep most of them, but these are really rough, and I am sure a new collector may get a chance to see them.

the white flip helps the camera focus better than the black background.
Yes white is always a better background. If you can shoot before you put it in the flip. Your shots are nice but still a bit out of focus that will come with more practice. Try to find a focus point on the coin and go with that.

Welcome, even a butterknife handle will work to push them down.

I am always wondering if people decide to just give up on holding on to stored rolls of these and end up just spending them. I could only imagine some people who put away BU rolls of these when they were first released in the thoughts and hopes that 30-40 years later those rolls would add significant value only to find in todays terms they are really not worth that much. Disappointment setting in on their original plan, they just decide it's not worth the trouble to try to even sell them so they spend them.
Excellent finds though!
Yes, I agree. I have mentioned before that where I live is a big retirement area. Almost all the old banks have large walk-in vaults with safety deposit boxes. I think when the estates of these people come up a lot of stuff is cashed in.

Very nice Rob, how did you find this one. Did you pull that coin from a proof set?

A great idea but this is a nine-year-old thread.

There is a reply to this thread from Mr Mike Meenderink. He has given us all a very thorough, scientific, explanation about the mixes. It's not the color solely, that makes these coins "errors". They do have a brass plate, the problem is that it doesn't take much of a change to the mix, to change it from copper, to bronze, or brass. That's where the problem exists in my humble opinion. They seem to have a problem controlling the mix, Or the aftermath from the mix, to the cleaning, and the washing and drying getting chemicals from one step to the next and soon you have a Frankenstein. In my opinion.
I think anything after 1981 is a mess once the core is exposed it is all down hill from there eventually, they all end up looking like Frankenstein

It is an unusual coin to find in a roll. I does happen from time-to-time because not too many coins get looked at when rolled automatically. I roll hunt a little and these are some examples of coins I have found in different coin rolls.

I look at the curl on the 9 when you can see it, if it goes up it is a small date and downward if it is a large date.
-
Oh no not another thing to look for when roll hunting. I see cents of a different color all the time and think that it is because of the zinc core, or someone left the coin in the cup holder in the car to long.

Nice find.
