Lem E got a reaction from Teddy R in Jefferson nickel steps Rev of 38 or 40. What do you see?
All 3 mints used both reverses on the 39 coins.

Only 2 simple rules for this thread.
1. Must have a face value of 5 cents.
OR
2. Made from nickel alloy.
We have a silver thread and a copper thread. I thought it was about time to give nickel some love. Post what ya got. Foreign or domestic, old or new, half dimes, 3 cent nickels, Buffs, Jeffs, Libs, etc.

1818 Capped Bust quarter, PCGS graded XF 40, an example of the larger diameter "open collar strike" subtype (1815-28), the preceding Capped Bust quarters having been of the smaller diameter "close collar strike" subtype (1831-38). (Coins with different designs are generally referred to as types, not, as a certain new member claims, "die series".)

Got this 85 proof today and when I entered it into the system the reverse image was a Morgan. I thought that was kinda funny.

1868 proof Shield nickel, PCGS graded PR 64. CAC awarded a green sticker despite the coin having several small green corrosion spots!

1831 quarter dollar, "Small Letters" variety, NGC graded XF 45, though lightly "cleaned" in my opinion:

Lem E reacted to robec1347 in For the love of copper
I was gifted this by a former CU and NGC forum member, Curly. It will of course never receive a good grade, but it’s a keeper for me until it’s passed on to a new custodian.
