That's pretty nuts, IMHO.  These coins only came out this year and I'm certain there are many from Mint Sets that haven't been submitted yet.  If a lot of 69's come out of the Mint Sets, which may happen, these prices will be unsustainable, I think.  There are good, scarce modern coins.  I know this...I sell them.  However, I have my doubts that any of the WCDs will be among them in the long run.  What I think we're seeing with these is that there are some people that just cannot wait....they just have to be first in getting anything and will pay the price to do so.

I thought the one and done factor might play a role in it. Doesn’t seem like the Tuskegee quarter is getting as much attention, but I haven't seen a MS69 or what it would or did go for.

  2. As far as the trustworthiness of your coin dealer, I can’t say. Even if these are true mint errors, which I am not saying they are or aren’t, I don’t think this coin is going to be worth more than face value in the condition it is in. Die chips are really not uncommon. Laminations, while interesting, won’t raise the value of this coin by much if at all. If it is all PMD then it is worth 1 cent. If you could post pics of the whole coin front and back, people can get a better look and give you more information and opinions. I don’t think this coin would be worth the trouble, but let some of the other members here have a look and they will give their opinions and advice.

Wow I'm surprised that seems very under graded from what I see, maybe the luster is not as strong as I am thinking.   I cannot imagine a better strike, my MS67 FB example is not quite as crisp as your coin.   No matter the grade in this case it is a wonderful coin and I look forward to seeing Joe's images.

Obverse luster is much better than the reverse which is what I’m assuming held it down. I’d say more shine than luster on the obverse. When I get away from my Jeffs, grade takes a back seat to eye appeal. Joe will work his magic on it. Thanks again my friend.

Drop dead gorgeous Merc there @Lem E, love that coin.   A very early strike on both dies, really hammered; MS68?  ^^

Thanks CB but nope. That there is a 65FB. The seller claims its a DDO (Coneca DDO-004) and not recognized by NGC. I really don’t care if it is or not and I haven't looked it up. It’s actually quite PL with some nice color underneath. Pics make it look flat but you know how that goes.
