  1. I found a 1970-S cent and a 1976-D cent in pocket change the other day. Both in really good condition which was surprising. Neither would grade MS. The 1970 was very BN and would grade at G 4-6 at the lowest. The 1976 still had a lot of mint luster and might grade at F 12-15. Holdered them both and added them to my cent collection.
  2. I label my 2x2 holders with Ultra Fine Point Sharpies.
  3. Agree. I would keep it in the holder and save it.
  4. Great photo and tips! I was a litho process camera operator for many years and cant take a decent digital coin pic to save my life. I need to get some LED lighting.
  5. Great post Coinbuf. I have more reasons to submit coins in for grading. If you dont mind. I am NOT suggesting the OP send coins in for grading. 3). For the novelty. The quality of being new, original, or unusual. 4.) For a Registry set. 5.) Authenticity and Preservation. 6.) Easier re-sale liquidity. 7.)Preserved for life. DISCLAIMER: I am NOT advising the OP or anybody else for to submit their coins for grading.
  6. Dont grade coins when your eyes are tired. I went through a security company roll of dimes last night and found 4 that I wanted to holder. I had put them in holders and stapled them. I did one last check with my loupe before boxing and one of them had the tiniest mark that got by me.
  7. Somebody without coin grading experience put that cent in a holder. I agree that the value is 1C.
  8. The mint hast lost my business. I got several rolls from them last year and a couple of other online coin sellers. Marks, scratches, tons of spots and at a huge loss. I get rolls of coins from my bank without paying the high fees.
  9. Please post a picture of it.
  10. Is your coin in a plastic holder similar to this one?
  11. AU-Cleaned? Has your coin been slabbed By a TPG?
  12. (Stands up) My name is Mike. I am not huckster. I do not buy or sell on Etsy. (Sits back down) 😉
  13. Following. Very nice quarter collection. Ive only found one 2021D MS quarter and one 2021D MS Cent in the wild so far. Both of them have gone into 2x2 cardboard holders.
  14. Correction. 73 years. I was born in 1958 and have been in circulation and taken a few hits for 63 years.😉
  15. This article came over this morning with the greysheet newsletter. Does anybody have a RARCOA green label? New guy on the block? https://www.greysheet.com/news/story/a-major-dealer-is-making-markets-for-quality-coins-certified-with-the-new-ngc-green-label
  16. I got rolls of state and territory quarters last year and several had some value. Be sure to save the nice ones. The 1999's and 2009's that I had sold quickly.
  17. I got several rolls of quarters directly from the U.S. Mint last year and was very disappointed in their poor condition. Never again. U.S. Mint bags of coins can also be purchased directly also.
  18. My total at the coinshop today was $19.95. As the guy rang me up at the cash register, the drawer popped open and.....got a worn down down nickel..
  19. I googled the term Bag wear on coins and a lot of information came up. PCGS has the best article, Examining Contact Marks on Coins.
  20. I was reminded last night as once being a troll and ostracized here myself last year. So far so good since returning. I am going to visit my two local coinshops today for supplies and maybe pick up a coin or three. Have a great day everybody!
  21. According to the Sheldon Wikipedia page, Briiliant Unc. coins are MS60-62. See the second paragraph in the Notes section. Select or choice grade at MS63-64. Gem unc. can grade MS 65-69. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheldon_coin_grading_scale
  22. As long as TPG's are around, this will be discussed and never settled. (Select or choice) uncirculated will grade at MS63 thru 66, correct? I have always regarded select or choice as the key words for those mint state grades.
