  1. That is one scary cent. The obverse has three scary images. It is a Halloween cent. Anyone else see what I'm seeing?
  2. Save your graded coins for your great great grandchildren. What was your lowest grade coin? MS67 Grade is excellent!
  3. I would NOT submit your quarter. It may come back with a DETAILS Damaged designation, and would not be a good investment.
  4. Yes, somebody started a low ball thread awhile back that got me interested in them. I am working on a Seated Liberty Quarter P01 set. The P01 coins can be quite pricey and I haven't seen them at auction yet, but selling on eBay.
  5. Thanks. I now see that my collecting junk coins can lead to misconception and confusion with new collectors and will not ask if their junk coin is for sale from now on. Yes, my junk collection has come from my pocket change. No fun in making my own. I do buy graded coins at auction, usually in the MS65-66 range, but have a fascination with low ball sets.
  6. I am looking to buy @Erin33's quarter if it is for sale for my junk collection.
  7. @EagleRJO do you know the year of the nickel? I can see the 19. The last two digits may be 84?
  8. West Coast here too. Do the mints make their dies in-house? Do they make their planchets in house? I ordered a complete set of the Philadelphia state quarters for a folder that I'm working on from Littleton and they all were in MS condition. I had most of the Denver coins. I have noticed the PL appearance on circulated coins since the 2021 Washington Crossing the Delaware quarter.
  9. Nice! A couple of moon cents! Do you have a junk collection? I've just started a junk collection. The worst of the worst.
  10. No, not weird. Before I got that moon cent, I returned them them back to my bank in rolls. What makes me feel bad is finding a coin that is perfect on one side and flip it over and there are nicks and scratches. I'm sure every coin collector has that happen. I got some change today but none were worthy of my junk jar.
  11. Start a junk coin collection for your own amusement. I just started my junk collection with this "moon" cent that I got in change and have added a few ragged dimes. Anybody else have a junk coin collection?
  12. Thanks again. I have seen a dime and a nickel so far in the proof sets that would not grade higher than a PF65 but most would grade PF67+. I did receive a cracked holder 2021 proof set from the Mint. I did buy another set from somebody else but may send the coins from the cracked proof set in for grading someday.
  13. LOL Henri! If I ever see a Chiquita banana sticker on a slab, I will buy it! I have in fact thought about putting a gold star on my coin holders...
  14. Thanks. I know I am upside-down business wise since I started buying these proof sets. I am a collector first and a seller only in hard times. In fact, I have got a small coin hoarding collection going on. I wish I could tell tell the difference between a PF69 and a PF70. But I do know what a MS65 grade looks like after sending in a lot of coins for grading a couple years ago that I thought would grade higher.
  15. Thanks for the advice. I will keep an eye out for the NGC first day of Issue proof sets to purchase to add to my collection.
  16. Thanks! The NGC disclaimer is "original sealed mint shipping box". I have been buying proof sets online that are in the mint box or envelope, not in a SEALED mint shipping box. I may try for the first day of Issue in 2024.
  17. @EagleRJO Thanks, I do want to keep my mint sets in their OGP holders. I purchased a 2017 mint proof set just like yours with the NGC first day of Issue sticker and seals in the OGP holders. That got me wondering if the TPG's offered some kind of attribute service for mint set collectors that want to keep the OGP holders. Stickers and seals and for the older sets in cello put into a sealed holder like they use for notes. It does sound like a great business to me with a low cost start up, website, label and stickers, forms and a PO Box. If I was younger, I'd start it up!
  18. I'm going to start my own TPG for grading proof mint sets. I got an email back from NGC when I asked if they would acknowledge mint sets in OGP with stickers and seals NGC replied with a standard reply letter. not one word about my mint proof set question. I bought a lot labels and stickers during my career in printing and seriously thinking about it. I have not heard from PCGS yet.
  19. I purchased this 2017 S clad proof set from MCM and it has NGC stickers and seals for First Day of Issue. This is the first mint set I have purchased with NGC stickers and seals. Too bad they don't give them numbers for a registry. Anybody else have mint sets with stickers and seals? What does the "MINORS" stand for?
  20. I love seeing chest feathers on old GW quarters. Hard to come by in the wild. I have found only two GW quarters in change worth keeping over the last few years.
  21. I got my 2019-S proof mint set today and they come with a 2019-W cent. I was surprised at the condition. It would not grade 68-70. Just a bit lower. The 2019-S cent is in 68-70 grade. I am not cracking my S proof sets and not paying grading fees.
  22. Be careful! A couple of years ago I was suspended for a week from here. I was joking with @Hoghead515 about cleaning his 3 cent pieces in a thread and a lot of members got upset with me. Not too long after that, I got clean and sober. I now know who I can joke with here and who not to joke with.
