  1. is this about the same size and weight of a $5 gold half eagle? based on size and weight it seems like it may be gold. that makes me wonder why a non authentic piece wouldnt be much lighter. how much would a piece like this be worth if it was confirmed genuine. and does anyone else think it looks like gold? it does seem to have alot of dents similar to some older pieces i have seen???? but then again the surface looks very porous.
  2. thanks coinbuf. i have slowly been messing with it on NGC and other site. I got 3 dmpl carsons in my custom album over the course of 2 beers lol. its gonna be a long haul. i will fill you in on my CAC submission journey last 6 months. over 400 mostly cc's and peace and batting almost 50 percent green. will start a new thread when i got time to take some pics. no golds.
  3. hello again, still dabbling on where/how is the best way to organize coins. i created a custom set in NGC and it seemed it would not allow me to post the NGC cert verification photos to the set? please advise if I am doing something wrong. thanks
  4. ebay seller xvpvd_10 it got removed real fast and was from a while back
  5. What I was looking at appeared to be right within the pcgs registry??
  6. If you know Carson city Morgan's then the tite says it all. If someone can snag a pic and post then please do. Unreal
  7. I have never entered any coins into a registry but on the other site it shows an option to put your coins pictures into a "set" that makes it look like they are in a "digital" album. It seemed like something that would be popular but perhaps it no longer exists.
  8. Hello. Has anyone used the digital album software? Does it allow showing CAC sticker? I'm considering entering my collection into something for viewing and organization but knowing it will be an arduous task I am not sure where to start. Thanks for any advice and if you can display CAC, a picture would be greatly appreciated.
  9. thanks to all for the great inputs. i am absolutely definately 100 percent going to leave this coin alone! if and when i get around to selling a few items this would be in the first batch. As i have been badly burned before buying raw coins when i was a total newb. (i have learned ALOT here) i would simply list it as 1921 PEACE DOLLAR, old PCI holder and state in the description that PCI has been noted as being unreliable in the past. the 62 grade looks correct to me and that there are no obvious signs of cleaning. then i will sleep good at night and based on what 1921 peace are going for i would say it would bring 700+ EEEEAAASSSYYY with a dozen really good closeup shots listed. i havent listed any coins for sale before, just bullion, but i know this for a fact......good pictures sell good coins (better than this one probably) thanks everyone!!
  10. thanks for the reply VkurtB! yes she has taken some hits. so far coinbuf's suggestion of just keeping it in its current holder and selling it as grade unknown. does she appear to be cleaned? i am feeling like 62 is an accurate grade im just not sure about the cleaned part. and she has a flaaaaaaaat soft strike. what to do?
  11. wow, thanks to you coinbuf my pics are getting much better !!
  12. hello coinbuf the number is 6149244018 so 10 digits, yeah the color is weird as it seems just like "a golden tint" not in any particular place. these have been going thru the roof so im wondering if i should just crack and send and keep my fingers crossed. i am thinking the golden cast is from an improperly/incomplete rinse after a dip. it still has luster and doesnt have that overdipped look we all know but im pretty sure it crossed paths with a mad scientist and a jug of EZEST in its past
  13. hello again all, was digging and found this which i purchased a couple years ago when i was getting into Peace dollars. i paid 250 dollars and at the time didnt realize the history of the PCI slab (company). It is not very evident in the pictures but the entire coin has a gold like shading to it (almost like a light nicotine stain look) I find the gold color very unpleasing. Is this color just the start of retoning after being dipped? After i looked at this closely to see if it had been cleaned or not and would perhaps straight grade at NGC i was riding the fence. it has some hairlines? but so do all the other 1921 peace dollars i have in 62 and 63 and 64. please take a look and see what you think. @VKurtB if you read this I will send this coin to you if you think the golden color can be removed. Please advise, sorry for rambling.
  14. im finding that CC 1890s are few and far between so far. these 2 are nice lookers.
  15. hello JP, as @Coinbuf said if you are approved to submit by CAC it is 16 bucks per coin that gets stickered. but the real cost comes from registered shipping back and forth and some handling fees. i havent been tracking it closely but i would say the "average" total cost to get a green bean for me is about 30 -35 dollars once it is said and done. it would be cheaper if you sent a batch (i have been sending 19 per batch just due to being able to fit into an NGC box easy) that has a bunch of green beans. so far i have three submissions graded. 8 out of 19 green, 8 out of 19 green, and the third one which i dont have yet 7 out of 19 green. i am finding it is very hard to break 50 percent and some of the non-CAC coins seem amazing to me. I like the CAC coins alot. As far as value, im not exactly sure but i do know that (for example) the 34S peace CAC would sell at full book price plus some easily based on other sales i have seen. some of the other lower value coins might not sell for a huge premium but i would say the 35 cost per eliminates anyone from screaming the coin totally is a dog. It has been exciting and fun to try to figure out exactly what traits they like in a coin. But, i think i grade like mr magoo!
  16. hello again, i got my second CAC submission back. once again i got 8 out of 19 coins green beaned with no golds. A couple pictured i was hoping for to get beaned and got good results.
  17. and the fields are very clean (like 66 clean??)
  18. way to go hoghead! with a clean clean pretty face like that im not surprised at 65. that is a very nice example.
  19. hello. it is impossible to tell from pictures alone whether or not a coin has been cleaned. 1921 peace are funny sometimes as some earlier (i think that is correct @RWB is an expert on these and will hopefully see this post) strikes seem almost lifeless due to the new dies. this may be one of those examples as it does seem a little lifeless. based on my personal experiences with this date this one appears to be a little overdipped a long time ago and has darkened up since then. It is just impossible to tell via those pics/ sorry if that doesnt help much but their are others who know this coin inside and out.
