  1. I can't speak for anyone else but I do consider myself "The King of my Castle" ...but given today's prices/evaluations of some coinage I can see where only a "King" could afford some of them.
  2. I concur with this statement.
  3. I'll be honest I really wanted the Koala, good thing I was lazy. Glad it worked out well for you !!
  4. Purchased 3 for my Birth Year series from Six Mile Rick...Easy, Quick and great looking coins to boot ! Thanks.
  5. Coins look great and will look better once I add them to my Birth Year Collection. Thanks Rick
  6. After the 59' 50¢ FBL I picked up this one to add to my Birth Year collection, a restrike issue. The Rev shows the true buttery color of the coin, for the life of me I couldn't get a good one of the Obv. Maybe it's time to use a real camera instead of phone LOL. Thanks for looking.
  7. This I can understand as someone still trying to grasp the process of grading. I can understand the value and purpose of being graded by a TPG and it's intent but I can't understand why a very brief explanation can't be given. Does the TPGs have 1000 coin a day evaluations to perform with 10-20-100 people ? Does their workload prevent them for doing so or is it simply a matter of practice? I'll mostly likely send coins in for evaluation but it would be great to have a base idea of WHAT THEY SEE that I do not to avoid getting that lower grade or the "Details" designation.
  8. I have 20 coming to me as soon as the shipping backlog gets fixed from JM, they have been out of stock for a while now. Hoping the type"2" later this year don't get swallowed up too. Edited to state I had to preorder mine also when it became available. ...edited again to state I sent 10 in to NGC and will keep 10 raw for now.
  9. Received this one 2 days ago, a addition to my Birth Year collection...I really need to get a better set of pics.
  10. It's a German token ...some other examples: HERE 1 is for Pfennig ...their version of a penny. Various themes throughout the years made. The German in me likes them, wishing I saved/got more Volksmarch pins while stationed there.
  11. In the event I purchase a "Elite" membership is the requirement 100 coins or 100 sets of 2 aka 100 holders ? Thanks (I'd call during the day but it's next to impossible using a cell inside the plant)
  12. How do I submit coins of the same type so that 2 of them will be side by side in a holder with appropriate labeling regarding type and grading...etc ? I've seen this done with others and with Mint sets (5 coins), How to submit? Thanks
  13. I would never consider sending in bulk older coins without prior evaluation, this is for New and/or never opened sealed U.S. Mint coins. Thanks.
  14. I guess I should state that a "bulk" submission for me would be no more than 50 and not near the 100 requested by NGC and PCGS. ....and yes I saw the requirements to submit in that quantity. Thanks.
  15. If a person purchases bulk coins from U.S. Mint, company or a individual is it best to leave in the sealed container from the Mint or do TPGs asked they be individually sent ? I'd think less touching the better but I know some here do this regularly and I'm curious what they do. The NGC site, https://www.ngccoin.com/submit/how-to-package/, seems to only talk about raw single coin submissions. Thanks...and yeah I bought some, older and newer...haha OK, I need better reading comprehension skills....just saw this on site ..."Bulk submissions do not need to be submitted in non-PVC plastic flips. These may be submitted in original rolls or other packaging."
  16. That's a bad habit they have, I understand that due to grading changes or something the cost may influx but I'd really prefer they give a person a heads up. They truly need to work on their communication skills some in many areas IMHO.
  17. Susan B the interior rim was polygon, the Sacagawea was not.
  18. It's a shame that at least a bullion coin couldn't be done even if only for a commemorative coin or the like. At times thinking outside the box, in this case circle, could be a draw for people. This is all just pondering.
  19. (I posed this question elsewhere too) Just for discussion, Has the U.S. Mint ever or consider making coinage that had polygon shapes ? Would it drive the vending ppl insane nowadays ? Could it just be for bullion related types or for public use ? I have 2 non-collectables, at least for me, that I've had since 77'(grad year) but every now & then I look at them because I like the polygon shapes, more so with the brass 3 pence. Has the US Mint ever consider this ?
  20. The very 1st set of images are from a straight over the top angle(w/black background), the 2 sets proceeding are me attempting to get a better angle that reflects the toning I saw but with the fluorescent lighting it gave a xtra bright reflection of the toning. Just now took 2 pics with natural sunlight, Obv shows it better at what I see in hand, still can't get the right angle for Rev but the lighter area on wheat's is where I see the toning the most there. Hard to take pic with coin in hand and use Gal. 8+ phone Thanks for looking.
  21. So, I researched some at various locations and don't feel nearly as bad about this as before but.... ....there are numerous examples of toning like this some great looking pieces some not so much. Some of the images were graded by NGC and PCGS and a couple raw and were in better MS grades than mine but still show a vast range of toning. One site suggested that this occurred when in storage they were in a stacked position and the ensuing change happened, I will read up more on that soon. I'll try to get some better images of mine now that I have some daylight, my preferred choice is overcast skies, and not a overhead light. It appears the BN type when shot straight on doesn't get the appearance of toning that much as shown in the last 3 images(same coin) Some examples:
  22. I don't doubt you for a second. Can a coin of this nature get a toned appearance at all and to this extent ? The 2 lower sets of images reflected the light harshly but the excessive toning is present as mentioned. Just learning and trying to understand this part of collecting. Trying to differentiate on what is good and bad toning or if it should even exist on a coin like this at all. Thanks
  23. Don't suppose you have a list of some sort ? approx. how many coins ? ...and I enjoy Biloxi ! a casino there, BeauRidge, is holding onto some money of mine lol.
  24. I was going through coins I purchased 6-8-10 months...dunno haha but as I was trying to determine a possible grade and read up about on it online I noticed at a certain angle it has a toned appearance, more so in center of Obv and on wheat on Rev. A straight on shot shows pretty much a BN coin. I'm not concerned about the grade but I am curious about the toning, does this appear natural in the making ? and also on the Obv along the cheek and flat surface does this appear to be rubbing/cleaning ? I tried my best to get a decent image(s) of toning and a few images have some excess reflection but I think you can see what I'm talking about. I do like the coin itself and may hang on to it as I'm starting to lose interest in Morgans and shifting my interests elsewhere. Thanks for looking, look forward to responses. Ed G.
  25. Thanks for the input all, hopefully others wondering this will see this as a good advice.
