  1. It definitely opens up a lot of questions. I think this could be good, although he kind of hints that higher end coins will be their main customer base.
  2. I don't bash my head on any TPG result. For one, as I have said, I am a horrible grader. I see Lincolns that look like children have played mini shuffleboard with for several weeks that are MS, etc...On Ebay, there has to be some coin swapping going on. JMO, I fear that many buyers aren't getting the coin that was originally encased in the graded holder. Even as untalented as I am at grading, I can see the difference between an MS61 and a 64. (I think). Coinsandmedals definitely didn't hold back and got to the point.
  3. I would enjoy seeing the reverse of the 1923, if you would.
  4. It is good enough to be addressed. It has to be submitted for the Variety Plus service, and when it is returned to you it should be in a new scratch free holder. It wouldn't hurt to give NGC a call and explain to them the issues. They are very nice and understanding and will help guide you to what exactly you should do. Although they are busy, I think you will be surprised at the personal attention you will get. Good Luck!
  5. Most people having less than a year to go quote days left, not years. You must enjoy your job, which is a good thing. a lucky man indeed. (313 days and counting)
  6. GBrad, at the rate your going, by next year you'll be working at NGC in the Variety Plus department.
  7. Idhair, I don't guess there's any chance that I'm in your will is there? Kidding.
  8. Looks like the real deal to me. I would feel more comfortable if Mr. Lange responded after me instead of before me though. Good luck GBrad!
  9. No, I don't use a 12 gauge for squirrel. LOL. As a matter of fact, I hunt dove with a BB gun. Of course I have to have a head shot, and shoot when they are flying towards me for full impact. Kidding. Jed and Jethro might do that, but for me, a 22 rifle for squirrels and any gauge for dove. Wrong thread for this, just saying............. I guess I could make this legit. An old shell, nice toning, low relief because of worn out dies, XF45. The Columbian, ugly dark toning, could be black powder yuck from the shell, and has more nicks than an AU50 Morgan. The Columbian also looks like he got the worse end of a recent fight.
  10. Common shelf doubling on Remington shell.
  11. I think I found what Hoghead was looking for.
  12. They look like black dots to me. You should take closer/larger pics.
  13. Charlotte favors Queen Elizabeth, although I've been known to stare at a coin a little too long as well.
  14. GBrad,, you are correct on the math. You need to know, that after 40 years old you should always deduct 10 years from the age of a lady. My mother taught me that one. My neighbor likes to do just the opposite with men. He'll ask "Were you in the 'police action' Korean war"? Knowing full well they were born in the late 50's, he likes to see their expression.
  15. Thanks a lot! I really enjoyed everything you posted and liked last years and before. Please do again next time. I'm starving, and I seem to be craving wine for some reason.
  16. I was surprised that early half dimes were dead last. I guess #4 and #5 with your general observations cover that. --- Thanks for the thread.
  17. I've never slept with my coins, yet. I've noticed a few looking the other way, but as far as I know, none have ever two timed me. The coins are keepers.
  18. Happy Birthday Karen! 1969 was a great era to be born, and 43 is a wonderful age in life as well. Hang around a little more often. Have a wonderful day!
  19. I was too mentally lazy to try, but since FlyingAl gave me a shortcut structure to work with, here I go. (starting tomorrow, Sunday).
  20. I was humming the song the very second I read 8675309.
  21. JKK, you and so many others have done a wonderful job with newbies. I remind a few, a very few, about the 'What you need to know before posting coins for inquiry' thread that you started. The NN's that ask questions and then won't take 'no' for an answer, I think has been handled nicely. Sometimes it's quite humorous, like the person that was arguing about some coin, and Lange chimed in to help, saying that the coin was damaged The person finally said "I'll just send it in to get it graded". Lange responded, "Ok, I'll be looking for it when it comes across my desk". They didn't even bother to look at his title, much less realize that he was trying to save them the time and expense, doing it for Free. I'm more easily amused than the average person, but if that didn't put a smile on everyone's face, I don't know what would.
  22. I'd rather live in the house directly between Rachael Maddow and Sean Hannity than between Vkurt and RWB. Just kidding guys, we like and need and respect you both.
