  1. Where's the Love ❤️ button? That's what I'm talking about!
  2. All very well and good. Easy to follow instructions. But the complainant is in a real quandary here. What does one do when a fellow member heaps effusive praise on you, embellished with genuflecting emojis to boot, and you absolutely refuse to block [ignore] him? In the morning, he is says, do whatever you like. A few hours later, in the afternoon, he issues a CEASE AND DESIST order! Is praise an actionable, reportable offense? [If the Interstate is closed, you or I will try local roads. Not so the complainant. After all, the Interstate is not supposed to be closed.] I have never blocked anyone, but then again, I cannot recall having encountered any offensive content. I am going to do something I picked up from a dear old friend. Stay away and try again later.
  3. Correct me IF I'm wrong, but it seems to me it would be a sacrilege to introduce a dime, quarter or half on your thread. I do not wish to engage in one-upmanship. You post what you've found. That's very humble. True, I have a few odds and ends (to the everlasting astonishment of those who believe I was born with a Rooster in my mouth) but none, to my recollection, were "found." To claim otherwise would be cheating. I enjoy your offerings, as is.
  4. Totally slipped my mind. They've got that corner of the market nailed down.
  5. No, no, no! The aforementioned gentlemen have arrayed their respective entourage, against me! I promised them I would vacate the premises! Please do not get me into any more trouble than I'm already in.
  6. I was thinking of reviewing my meager U.S. holdings, but this thread vibrates at a certain frequency. And, regrettably, when it comes to taking pictures, this "smart" phone is not all its cracked up to be.
  7. Yours is an exquisite coin with a more than respectable grade. [None of my 🐓 graded that high.] The steps appear to be intact as viewed from my perch, but my opinion, alas, does not count. I only have 50 years of collector experience. FWIW: If the attribution sought translates into that humongous a dollar figure, it is quite understandable why our hosts would be finicky and picky as to whom they award the highly-coveted 5FS designation to. [In order for me to make a definitive finding, I would have to whip out the Great 30-power Lense at least one member has quite vocally prohibited me from using.]
  8. In deference to you and one other member who finds this thread "irritating," I am abandoning this thread forthwith. It is a rare privilege to be so honored by not one, but two highly esteemed members in the course of a day! Rest assured, I will not coerce you, or anyone else, to scroll anymore. Wish granted! 🐓 [Gratuitous add-on: Is this place great, or what?]
  9. When I asked a young clerk where the disposable cameras were kept in a local CVS pharmacy, she gave me a look and a reply I have seen and heard many times before: "We no longer have them. Everyone is using cell phones now." Even that block, East 32d Street, hard by Penn Station, featuring all the large camera and photo supply stores, has undergone change--with more expected shortly. I would be forced to use the internet, whether I wanted to or not.
  10. @VKurtB: I could have sworn the gentleman became a member here, spewed forth his intemperamental invective, and not a week later, fled the premises. I wasn't even aware he had violated the sanctity of other threads. How did he have the time? I wonder if he got bang for his buck... A Hasselblad? I haven't heard that name in years. [Don't lean too far off that balcony! Remember: "NO INTENT!"] 🐓
  11. @Oldhoopster: Funny I was thinking about you. If I may just direct your attention to the very last line of my spiel: "The sentiments of those who do not, shall be respected." MINING OVER.
  12. Hello, everybody! Retread guy here ready to carefully tread thru this classic thread. Old-timers may recall the above comment made by a distinguished member. In the days ahead, with the indulgence of Moderation and the present membership, I am going to be mining this thread to see if it's ready to yield its hidden gems. All in favor, say Aye! The sentiments of those who do not, shall be respected.

  14. A bull in a china shop has NO intent. Those bulls that participate in that festival in Pamplona, Spain, have NO intent. What's that, you got gored? Sorry, NO intent! This member may very well have been all the things other members have attributed to him, but there was NO intent. I still fail to see what was so self-evident to me, continues to vex and bedevil others. As the former president so eloquently put it: NO COLLUSION, i.e., NO INTENT! One more time now, everybody, NO INTENT. 🐓 [Man, I love this thread!]
  15. Churros, exactly! I am going to--what's that term Eddie Murphy used in "Trading Places"?--"retire" now. Bother me? Not at all! I simply place my forearm on the table i/f/o me, and clear the slate. Voila! Tune in tomorrow for another episode of "Q.A.'s Q.&A."
  16. Well, at the risk of being made a laughingstock on this Forum, my B.A was in criminal justice. Any known connection to numismysticism? Not that I am aware of. [I believe I can withstand the "slings and arrows of outrageous Fortune," as William put it, in Hamlet, Act 3, Scene 1 - "to be or not to be."]
  17. It is absolutely NOT mispronounced croysant; how can you buy something without knowing what it is? (Let me guess, may I have (pointing) one of those, please.) In any event, a CROY-ler--is this comment even permissible?--is a long thin sugary sweet with lands and grooves, on the outside. The Mexicans serve them from small carts in the subway. A croissant is a pastry fashioned in the shape of, what else, a crescent. A patisserie is simply a shop that makes cakes, cookies and bon-bon. [Your testing the patience of Moderation, and may yet get me banned!]
  18. Confused? As to what? It's a joke! I hear guys saying CROY-ler all the time; croissant, is, well Kwah-SAHNT. Nothing to be concerned about. I never heard anyone, on the Forum, or off, entertain the thought of being banned, but you do not offend anyone so we are all Kool and the Gang! 😉
  19. This guy is mocking me! I can understand pronouncing the "r" in cruller, but in croissant? That's blasphemous! How am I to explain this to my French-speaking wife? 🤔
  20. [FWIW... all I know is I disregarded the advice given to me when I was discharged from a hospital 2-1/2 years ago following major surgery--DO NOT MAKE ANY MAJOR DECISIONS!--and the next thing I know, P--- is sending me an award plaque for Best French Set. A fellow member (we all know and love) says none of that counts because I assembled the collection, uncollector-like, i.e., too quickly. He's got a point. With Eliasberg and others, their compilations, many of them, were a labor of love undertaken with all due deliberation, some of which became a dogged life-long pursuit. One day a collector will make a passing reference to Q.A., and a collector within earshot will say, "Quintus Who? Never heard of him!"
  21. [Calm down, l'errorist, it's a MS die crack, not a PRF one.] Very lovely coin!
  22. Q.A.: Nice re-strike! LEM E: Do you ever stop thinking about Roosters? This is an Indian Head Cent! Q.A. My bad! That's a truly awesome I.H.C, and a very respectable grade!
