  1. @Coinbuf I joined it for grading quiz … which anyone can practice grading there sure are some tricky coins on there then  Again I don’t agree with some grades … I’m terrible at grading GOLD COINS ! I cannot lie !!! I tend to under grade gold coins due to distraction marks I see on the coins then again I have to remember gold is softer metal bag marks show up easily on gold … but the grading quiz does get a little addictive once you try it

I don’t think I’m going to posting a lot on there we’ll see  … but they just installed grading quiz like last week , it’s a free platform if I don’t like it then I’ll just deactivate my account and leave

should I wipe with microfiber cloth

Never ever wipe any coin with a rag or anything …. Only way to remove finger mark oil it soak the coin in 100% acetone let it naturally dry off itself do not take paper towel or old tee shirt and try to attempt to dry coin off by wiping will leave hairlines on the coin …. I dip every raw I owned into acetone when I bought them from other collectors or coin shows soon as I get home I open the coin 2x2 flip open and soak coin in acetone let it dry off I transfer it to a fresh new 2x2 put it away in storage

I do like the grading game, but I wished the specialty areas got more conversation.  I still think the platform has a lot of potential.

In time it might catch on … it’s still a new platform , I’m just dabbling in to it today I haven’t navigated around it or looked into any of the chats yet nor added a picture on profile yet

Never heard of it.  Googled it. Undated stat: received 1.71 stars on 17 reviews, indicating customer dissatisfaction. Credit card problems were cited as one issue.  But don't let that hinder you from checking it out. Perhaps, you can report back with your own review here.  (thumbsu

It was free to join , it didn’t ask me for credit card

  5. I know I’m behind on little on time I just joined Mycollect today I e heard of ot last year but didn’t look into if … Anyone else enjoying using it ? How do you like it so far ? I heard they just added “guess the grade” contest or quiz something like that …. I’ll be sure to check it out later on when I can …. Sounds interesting

  6. @tj96 I would assumed some of Cheerio gold dollars were probably spend and sent into circulation that’s only thing I can think of happened or folks tossed them in dresser and jewelry box …. It wasn’t discovered until much later they were scarce and worth some $$$$ to coin collectors , most of the general population is not aware of this ? What happened to boxes that did not sell at time with Cheerio coin inside every store removes expired boxes in timely manner

about 5-7 years ago I had a guy at work literally at candy and pop machine everyday he would put $5 in machine hit release button it would give back $5 in gold dollars … He knew i was coin collector , he would always bring them to me asking if any were the Cheerio dollars i think he did that to get on my nerves somedays  … I was like No , No , No , No , NOPE ! now get out of my area Johnny !!!!! I got so tired of looking at them

  7. I was looking at her breast (sorry ma’am!) ha ! I notice on one OP showing there no breast line even on badly worn one you’d see at least a breast line …. Unless on the fake coin it’s a dude wearing a wig ?

All joking aside ! not only that the stars don’t look right nor does the curls in his’s/her’s hair

  8. Imagine long time ago when gold coins were treated according to their face value used sometimes sparsely among hard working Americans walking down street to go to store reach in your pocket oopsie got hole in pockets lost a couple of gold $2.50 on side walk or in store somewhere or between couch cushions (just a little humor $2.50 back then was big money ! I’m sure people held on to their change better back then compared to today if we lose a quarter or nickel in our pocket change we don’t fret over it)  , fast forward today $2.50 gold coin even in worst condition has melt value $260 ! How far we have come !!!

most gold didn’t circulate much during 19th and 20th century , same could be said about certain world gold coins you can find a lot world gold coins in mint condition they did not circulate very much as well during that time.

  9. Old sealed proof sets , old original wrapped coins are pretty cool even sealed mint bags are neat …. Not my cup a tea tho , that’s like buying coins blindly not knowing what they look like inside …. I wouldn’t be able to hold myself back I would be to tempted to break the seals just to have peek inside I would be dishearten to find all coins were ugly toned …

🐓:  Hey, Q!  This is a topic you can leave comments on.

Q.A.:  Great. It's gotten to the point where if I see a coin graded MS-69, I look for what I believe to be the possible cause of the deficit. I see something on the obverse on top but on the closeup below, it's not there. Same for the reverse. Would you mind giving me some idea of what it is you believed resulted in that 1-point loss.

If you’re referring to what looks like a rim rub or rim nick … possibly none has graded higher than 69 for that year so far

lol, woulda never considered Gronk for that

A lot people didn’t know he was collector until a few insufficiently_thoughtful_persons broke in his house stole his coin collection they tried sell his proof Morgan dollars to local coin dealer the dealer knew about it called the police they got arrested… wasn’t long before words got out in news about it

  12. Looking in my gold part of my collection apperantly I had one as well same thing MS64 … I can remember when I got it and where I got it must been long time ago tiny little gold coin I’m sure I only paid like $60-$70 for long time ago I don’t collect Mexican coinage how I got still puzzle me maybe trade in with another collector

  13. @GoldFinger1969 I agree … some collectors love gold coins nothing wrong with that they earn their place in numismatic world I know several collectors that pretty much all they collect is gold coins simply because they are attracted to the coin and designs on the coins ….

As for investors ? I would not blow all my money buying graded Gold coins as an investment , there’s much better stuff to invest into during 21 century such as Real estates ? Stocks? I never really looked at a coin collection as an investment more of something I would want give my kids or my grandchildren some day if they are interested … I really don’t want a dime back from my collection but if my kids don’t want in further I guess I’ll just dump it out in auctions get whatever I can for it and turn around invest money into something the kids want

  14. I treat my gold coins like any other coin in my collection as numismatic collectible … I’m not all hyped up and hell bent buying gold like it’s a retirement investment …. I take joy in building and selecting certain coins for my collection that’s my purpose , a lot newer folks getting into the hobby mistakenly believe gold is best money can buy … sadly that’s not true ! We as collectors know that …

now if you you’re investing into some gold to sell when hard times hit ? Now is okay time to buy some gold when price is dropping and sit on it for longer term when market spikes

  15. @Fenntucky Mike I wouldn’t be surprised if the bid price went up over $500-$600 ? If I’m close ???…. I do a lot of bidding on auctions as much as I can for coins I want in my collection… It’s no shocker to me when some yuppie with fat pockets who comes by at last minute and bid recklessly high !!! to get a coin that sparkles in their eyes… next you see them trying to flip it on EBay or heritage auctions for much higher price than they got it for sadly it sits there collecting dust … I see it all time , some coins I’ve lost out in auctions to a high bidder a month later see it up for sale on ebay with an outrageous price !!! Nobody buying it … I keep track of cert numbers even on coins I’ve lost see them later on somewhere else up for sale or up for bids again
