  1. Congratulations to all who won. Chicken Dinner .
  2. I'm not sure but thought I would ask. Don't know if it's the grain around the MM or if this is a true rpm. I looked at the 58 rpm's on variety vista, but can't match it. Hmmm
  3. It was to hard not to share this. I've seen alot of PMD but thinking this might be a error. Struck through or lamination or combination of all three. I know you guys say not to clean your coin but this one is tempting lol. Thanks for any advice on this one. Joe
  4. Thanks guys ,appreciate the help. Back to hunting.
  5. Since I can't find that stinking close AM , what about this between the ME in America. What kind of error would this be. There's something funny going on at the mint lol. Any help would be appreciated thanks. Joe
  6. Congratulations Tom, and good luck on that 1954 1000 bill. I have only a 1954 1 bill and a 1954 2 dollar bill. I have these on my wall because there just eye appealing. They have alot of creases in them, but people that come into my house it's a good talk peice.
  7. Hi Coinbuf, I'm a little frustrated and understand what you and Woods are saying about stock images. But when you buy from a trusted company like Littleton co. Your obviously not getting what you're seeing before you buy. Three 1957 one cent PF67 was purchased. Luckily they were legit in hand. But purchasing a 1945 MS66 one cent that they broadcast on air on TV looked promising ,because it also was graded. So when in hand , the obverse was decent. When I turned it over and looked at the reverse, it was missing the N in united. I'm going through some boxes trying to find the coin and I'm pretty sure the paper work is with it. I know better next time to keep this stuff near by in cases like this. I'm fortunate that I'm not spending thousands of dollars, I would be sick to my stomach if I wasn't getting what I was paying for. What I'm saying is, I just need to stay away from them kind of coin companies . I'll just go back to walking into retail stores and doing it that way. It is better to have the coin in front of you before purchasing for sure. Thanks Joe
  8. I guess I ended up with one bad coin in each set. Here's a pic of a 67 dime it's ethier MD or damaged while being striked .really don't know how something like this can be so perfectly damaged out side the mint, but these big coin outfitters are just like Estey and I need to stay away from. Woods, your right I need to look into finding a coin dealer, I live in a small town and it's about an hour and a half or two to the closest one. When I say its complicated when ordering coins, all's I'm saying is the company's you buy from isn't going to put you on hold to take the time and personally walk in the warehouse and sort through to find the perfect coin and send you a pic.
  9. How do you look for cleaner examples to evaluate these sets to buy. When you order anything to buy, that's what you get when the product is in your hand. The only thing I can do is send it back and hopefully get a better set. It's more complicated then people think. It just happened I got a lemon.
  10. My question is , maybe the employees from the mint are walking around doing this to coins. I'm asking because, where I buy this and alot of other coins are pretty legit. They get all there stuff right from the mint. Hmmm
  11. This is not a DD or MD. Looks like the mint took the old chips off the block. Whatever it was, chewed This coin up. You can see parts of the letters just took some badly hits through the striking of the coin. Interesting to know how this was done. Any information on this would help. Thanks Joe
  12. Nice, I'm still looking for these. Good luck on your set JP.
  13. Ahahahah, that's OK Tom. Some stuff I see like this coin , I want to say DD. But I do research to find out any other posable errors that might fit what I might be looking at. When I seen the overlay I thought that's gotta be it. Thanks
  14. I don't know what's going on with this one but leaning towards die clash. It's next to the right side of leg under the feathers. And above the arrow heads would be Washington's eye. I was going by a overlay on a quarter. I might be right on this one
  15. Thanks guys, I thought it was pretty cool also. Another one in my error book.
  16. Opened a roll of 55s and found this little stinker. Missing S and die chips on the 5s and also die crack on the bust of Lincoln.
  17. Thanks Tom, thought it would be MD. Circulation strikes in them years were bad. Thought I would ask before putting the set away. And yes this helps tremendously.
  18. Hey there everyone, I'm looking at this coin and I want to say DDR and then thinking MD. confusing and interesting at the same time. What would your thoughts be on this. Any info would be appreciated thanks.
  19. Thanks Tom, I'll be on the hunt for those more often. There fun to find for sure.
  20. Thanks for sharing that hoopster. A couple of book cases with 3 or4 shelves would be anough for me. Not to many and not to cluttered.
  21. I love to read to learning more. It's funny when I go into thrift stores or antique shops looking for coins and stamp books , because I have the whole section to myself. Nobody is really into the books in those places. Yeah my niece got us into stamps a little bit so we're slowly getting into that hobby also. Started a profile on the stampboards just to get a little feel of it, but I'm making a fool out of ourselves. Lol Family keeps asking what I want for Christmas. I'm just going to say the 2022 red book and a couple of US stamp books. I'll see how that goes. But we don't want to get overwhelmed on books in the hobby. Even though, the more the better. Thanks Joe
  22. Thanks guys, them are nice James. Bob posted in another thread about Red Book on Red Books. I might purchase that if I can find it. Just to learn more on the older Books.
